Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In aspects of the present disclosure, a user equipment (UE) may report metrics (e.g., received signal power, beam identifier) about synchronization signal (SS) beams using the same (e.g., or a similar) framework that is used for channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) reporting. Because SSs are intended to be broadcast across a wide coverage area in a beamformed manner, the SSs represent a promising complement to existing beam management techniques. Accordingly, beam management may be achieved at least in part based on reporting one or more metrics of beamformed SSs through a channel feedback framework.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for a sidelink of a wireless communication system are proposed. A transmission UE can contiguously or non-contiguously allocate radio resources through sidelink communication. A specific resource allocation method is selected in consideration of latency of sidelink data/packets or other factors. For example, a specific resource allocation method can be determined based on whether a plurality of contiguous subchannels is allocated to radio resources before a first time, which is determined based on latency of data/packets.

Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards sharing a radio by multiple subscriber identities at a device. A time division multiplexing pattern at the device radio gives primary radio use to a first subscriber identity, while also providing time windows for radio use to a second subscriber identity. In response to a communication by the second subscriber identity, the time division multiplexing pattern can be changed to give the primary radio use to the second subscriber identity. Also, a radio resource control protocol can designate appropriate states for the different subscriber identities, designating the subscriber identity with primary radio use as connected, while the other subscriber identity is designated as inactive or idle.

Abstract: A session management function (SMF) receives a message from a network exposure function (NEF). The message comprises downlink data and a release assistance indicator (RAI). The RAI indicates that transmission of uplink data by a wireless device is expected subsequent to transmission of the downlink data. The RAI indicates a release of a connection associated with the wireless device after the transmission of uplink data. The SMF receives an indication that the uplink data is transmitted. The SMF upon receiving the indication, sends a release message to an access and mobility management function (AMF). The release message indicates release of a non-access stratum message associated with the wireless device. The release message comprises the release assistance indicator.

In some aspects, the transitions may be signaled by a base station based at least in part on traffic volume for the UE, which may assist with improving throughput (e.g., when data is available for the UE), and which may assist with extending battery life of the UE (e.g., when data is not available for the UE). In some aspects, such transitions and associated parameter values may be preconfigured or a transition may be triggered by expiration of a timer, thereby reducing signaling overhead.

Abstract: A first wireless access point notifies a handoff management resource that a second wireless access point is a potential handoff candidate. Subsequent to authentication of the second wireless access point as being a valid handoff candidate, the handoff management resource notifies a mobile communication device that the second wireless access point is a valid handoff option to receive a communication session from the first wireless access point. To perform a handoff, the mobile communication device initiates termination of a wireless communication link with the first wireless access point and communicates with the second wireless access point to establish a new wireless communication link. In furtherance of providing uninterrupted network access, the handoff management resource conveys communication settings information associated with the handed off communication session to the second wireless access point for use over the new wireless communication link.

Abstract: A link downgrade detection system includes an interface that is coupled to an endpoint device. The endpoint device is configured to provide an endpoint link that includes a first link capability at a maximum first link capability level and a second link capability at a maximum second link capability level. The endpoint device stores a working first link capability level and a working second link capability level in a first memory device included on the endpoint device. A BIOS coupled to the chassis interface enumerates the endpoint device, determines an actual first link capability level and an actual second link capability level, and retrieves the working link capability levels. The BIOS then determines, based on the working link capability levels and the actual link capability levels that the endpoint link is downgraded, and in response provides a notification that the endpoint link of the endpoint device is downgraded.

Abstract: When a serving base station encounters a trigger for handover of a UE to a target base station, the serving base station will responsively predict whether, before the serving base station would direct the UE to handover to the target base station, an inactivity timer for the UE will expire, and the serving base station will then control the handover based on that prediction. For instance, responsive to the predicting being that the inactivity timer will expire before the serving base station would send a handover command message to the UE, the serving base station could forgo engaging in handover-preparation signaling with the target base station for the handover, instead allowing the UE to transition to idle mode upon expiration of the timer, at which point the UE could then engage in idle-mode handover to the target base station.

Abstract: Methods and systems are for managing congestion in a network of devices are disclosed. A method may comprise identifying one or more battery-operated devices. A signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and a signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) for each battery-operated device may be determined. Based on the SNR and SIR of each battery-operated device, a battery loss using clear channel assessment (CCA) and a battery savings using CCA may be determined. A total battery savings may be compared to a total battery loss to determine that the total battery savings is greater than the total battery loss. Based on the determination that the total battery savings is greater than the total battery loss, a noise may be generated to block transmission from the one or more battery-operated devices.

Abstract: in the context of “operator-controlled Wi-Fi” as in 3GPP TR 37,834 v12,0,0 “Study on Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)”, both in solution2 and solution3, WLAN identifiers need to be communicated between the radio access network, RAN, and the UE. However, WLAN identifiers (e.g., SSIDs, BSSIDs, ESSIDs, HESSIDs, Realm identifiers, NAIs, PLMN identifiers, Domain Name lists, . . . ) are large (e.g., SSID may be up to 32 bytes) and cause a large overhead in the wireless interface. This problem is solved by providing an indexed listing of WLAN Identifiers and by only exchanging the indices across the wireless interface; Preferably, some WLANs may have several indices, and each index may also be used to convey the action to take by the UE.
