  • Patent number: 9495378
Abstract: A packet of data and a packet-identification value are transmitted to a network device having an identifier. The stored packet-identification value and the identifier are recorded. The stored packet-identification value is then increased and the process repeats. To receive data, an expected identification value is stored in association with the identifier. A packet and a packet-identification value are received from the network device. The identifier and an indication of receipt are stored. If the received value does not match the expected value for the identifier, the received value is stored. If the values match, the stored packet-identification value and identifier are recorded. If the received value exceeds the expected value, the stored packet-identification value, the identifier and the received identifier are recorded. Subsequently, the stored expected value is increased. The process repeats. Network devices and systems are described.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for supporting secure packet communications, e.g., sRTP/sRTCP, which are resistant to denial of service attacks are described. A received packet is identified to correspond to a particular stream being received, the stream having a current expected set of packet sequence numbers, e.g., a current window including a next expected packet sequence number and at least one packet sequence number in the expected packet window on each side of the expected packet sequence number. Unencrypted information from the received packet, e.g., a received packet sequence number, is used to determine at least one of: to drop the received packet, or to assign the packet to one of a plurality of policing levels. If the packet passes policing at its assigned policing level, the packet may undergo authentication and decryption to determine if it is a valid packet.

  • Patent number: 9461736
Abstract: Techniques for efficiently sending and receiving data in a wireless communication system are described herein. The techniques utilize a slot structure that is backward compatible with existing design. The techniques include sending and receiving forward link packets that occupy less than a full slot of the slot structure. An output waveform, which includes at least one slot, is generated at an access point. Each slot is segmented into two half-slots, wherein at least one half-slot includes a data unit of a packet. At a terminal, the output waveform is received and processed to extract the data unit and the data unit is processed to determine whether it is accurate. The terminal also generates ACK/NACK information in response to the results of processing the data unit and transmits channel information including the ACK/NACK information. The access point interprets the ACK/NACK information to determine if the data unit should be resent.

The sub-division of the network enhances security by reducing the amount of the network visible to an attack and by insulating the network hardware itself from attack. The fixed bandwidth range at each sub-network level allows quality of service to be assured and controlled. The mobile device can further combine the mobile-rendered video stream and the compressed server-manipulated video stream to form a collaborative video stream, and a display screen of the mobile device can be caused to display the collaborative video stream. The mobile-rendered video stream can have a first level of a quality attribute and the collaborative video stream can have a second level of the quality attribute greater than the first level of the quality attribute.

Abstract: A centralized controller provides dynamic end-to-end network path setup across multiple network layers. In particular, the centralized controller manages end-to-end network path setup that provisions a path at both the transport network layer (e.g., optical) and the service network layer (e.g., IP/MPLS). The centralized controller performs path computation for an optical path at the transport network layer and for a path at the service network layer that transports network traffic on the underlying optical transport path, based on information obtained by the centralized controller from the underlying network components at both layers.

Abstract: A wireless communication network system includes a plurality of nodes. Each node from the plurality of nodes includes a plurality of communication modules. Each module includes a modem and is configured to operate according to a communication protocol. Each communication module is configured to monitor its own communication parameter data and to cooperate with companion modules of a node by sharing communication parameter data, for instance through a coordination unit. Each communication module is further configured to allow, preferably according to a predefined set of rules, communication using a protocol of one communication module by utilizing a band associated with a companion module. The sharing of communication parameter data between modules may be continuous sharing or periodic sharing.

Abstract: Systems and methods disclosed herein receive a network application proxy (NAP)-extended API function call issued by a networking-aware host application. The NAP-extended API function call provides parameter values associated with a host off-loadable packet exchange sequence. Using the parameter values, a NAP module intercepts and responds to one or more incoming network packets associated with the host off-loadable packet exchange sequence while the host processor is in a sleep mode state or is transitioning between sleep mode states.

Abstract: Embodiments include a method for managing connections to one or more antennas in a wireless network. In one embodiment, a method includes receiving antenna information at a wireless controller from an antenna. Configuration information is accessed from a database coupled to the wireless controller, where this information includes suitable antenna characteristics for use with the wireless network. The received antenna information and the configuration information are compared, and instructions are provided to cause the antenna to be connected to or disconnected from the wireless network based on the comparison between the antenna information and the configuration information.

Abstract: A remote control for a set-top box is configured to communicate with the set-top box using first and second wavelengths. In one embodiment, the remote control automatically performs Bluetooth pairing with the set-top box when the remote control is in proximity to the set-top box and the user presses a button on the remote, such as a “Power” button or other designated button. The remote control may wirelessly transmit a unique ID to the set-top box for the pairing process using the first wavelength, such as infrared. When paired, the set-top box may accept commands from the remote control transmitted using the second wavelengths, e.g., Bluetooth.

Abstract: A system and method for protocol translation between security devices in a security network using a transforming router. The router utilizes protocol templates to identify the protocols that encapsulate messages sent by the devices, and to determine the format of the messages. Using the protocol templates, the router translates the messages from protocols of source security devices to an intermediate protocol, translates the messages in the intermediate protocol into destination protocols for destination security devices, and forwards the messages to the destination security devices.

Abstract: Embodiments enable recovery of push notification channels via session information associated with user identifiers. A proxy service creates session information describing push notification channels (e.g., subscriptions) for a user and associates the session information with a user identifier. The session information is stored in a cloud service or other storage area separate from the proxy service. After failure of a user computing device or the proxy service, the session information is obtained via the user identifiers and the push notification channels are re-created with the session information. In some embodiments, the proxy service enables delivery of the same notification to multiple computing devices associated with the user identifier.
