  • Patent number: 11487687
Abstract: A device for a serial bus system. The device has a receiver receiving a signal from a bus of the bus system. For a message exchanged between user stations of the bus system, a recessive bus state is overwritable by a dominant bus state and the recessive bus state is generated differently in the first communication phase than in the second communication phase. The receiver generates a digital signal based on the received signal, and the signal being output to a communication control unit for evaluating the data contained in the digital signal. The receiver uses a first and second reception threshold for generating the digital signal in the second communication phase, the second reception threshold having a voltage value lower than that of the first reception threshold or higher than the highest voltage value which, during normal operation, is established on the bus for a dominant bus.

  • Patent number: 8948216
Abstract: In the various embodiments, decoders, methods, systems and devices exploit state information associated with transmitted packets to facilitate decoding operations. Specifically, in at least some embodiments, packets are received by a receiver. If the packet is unable to be decoded because of corruption, state information associated with that packet is buffered at the receiver and used for subsequent decoding. A retransmitted packet is then received, checked for corruption and, if not corrupted, is decoded leveraging the previously-buffered state information associated with the corrupted packet. In an event that one or more retransmitted packets are corrupted, this process can be repeated a number of times.

  • Patent number: 8675693
Abstract: Techniques for transmitting and receiving data in a communication system are described. A receiver may iteratively decode a data packet and may obtain better performance with more decoding iterations. The receiver may select the number of decoding iterations based on at least one parameter (e.g., packet size) to tradeoff between decoder throughput and link performance. In one design, a transmitter may obtain a transport format selected based on the number of decoding iterations, process a data packet in accordance with the transport format, and send a transmission of the data packet to the receiver. The receiver may receive the transmission of the data packet and may perform decoding for the data packet for up to the selected number of decoding iterations. The transport format and/or CQI information may be determined based on an expected degradation in link performance due to the receiver performing the selected number of decoding iterations.

This software layer can also “virtualizes” peripherals, devices or group of peripherals and devices into single addressable group of components that will act like one.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing a communication bridge between a physical location and a virtual location are provided. In particular, the presence of a visitor to a physical location is detected, and notification of the presence of a visitor is provided to a user associated with the physical location. The notification may include an identification of the visitor. Following notification, real-time communications between the visitor at the first physical location and the user at the virtual location are established, without requiring entry of a communication address for the virtual office of the user by the visitor.

Abstract: A Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) is partitioned into Line Cards, I/O Cards, and a midplane to provide enhanced Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability. Each I/O Card provides a cabling interface for coupling an assigned Line Card to other portions of a Hybrid-Fiber-Coax Network. A plurality of RF signals is coupled via connectors between each Line Card and a corresponding I/O Card, via the midplane. This permits a Line Card to be removed for servicing without requiring recabling of the corresponding I/O Card. Preferably, a rectangular-multi-pin collinear connector-cascade (Line Card jack, midplane double-plug, and I/O Card jack) is used to couple the plurality of RF signals. The connector-cascade is configured with protective RF ground pins adjacent and surrounding each of a plurality of RF signal pins.

Abstract: Prioritization of fragmented messages in an ORB is achieved by intercepting the flow of message data within the ORB, marking the current data stream location and issuing sufficient read commands to gather the message header and control area information. Then classification for priority can be performed using the data in the control area to classify the request. The classification information is stored for the message for later use by queuing and prioritization processes and the data stream marker is reset to the original location. When the queuing and prioritization processes are ready to dispatch the message, the message can be sent on to the higher levels of processing within the ORB where the higher levels of message processing code will process the message, totally unaware of the fact that the message has been classified and/or queued or prioritized prior to delivery to the higher level.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for installing software code on a remote information handling system (RIHS) comprising a management access controller (MAC). A remote management station (RMS) is implemented to manage the RIHS by communicating with its MAC over a network connection. The RIHS is initially booted by selecting a virtual media device (VMD) emulating a predetermined physical mass storage device containing a boot file and appearing to be physically attached via the RIHS's USB bus. Once booted, the RMS transfers additional boot files and installation files containing network share information to the MAC. The MAC transfers the files across a USB bus to the RIHS's memory where they are loaded and installed. A network connection is established to a network share comprising software code installation files. The software code installation files are then transferred from the network share to the RIHS for installation.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides an apparatus that selectively multiplexes a plurality of signal lines through an I/O pin on a semiconductor chip. This apparatus includes an I/O pin, for coupling a signal line within the semiconductor chip to a signal line outside of the semiconductor chip. A transmitting circuit is configured to selectively multiplex the plurality of signal lines onto the I/O pin. A receiving circuit is configured to receive multiplexed data from the I/O pin, and to reverse the multiplexing so that values originally from the multiplexed signal lines are separated into distinct signals in the receiving circuit. Note that the transmitting circuit and the receiving circuit are driven by a common clock signal. The apparatus additionally includes an initialization circuit that selectively configures the transmitting circuit and the receiving circuit to multiplex at least one of the plurality of signal lines through the I/O pin.
