  • Patent number: 9773261
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing interactive content for display in low-bandwidth communication environments are provided. A system can receive request for a web page including primary content. The system can determine that the end user computing device is communicating with the data processing system via a network connection corresponding to a bandwidth below a predetermined threshold. The system can, responsive to determining that the network connection corresponds to a bandwidth below the predetermined threshold, provide the web page including the primary video content and web page code invoking a low bandwidth advertisement rendering script responsive to the request for the web page. The low bandwidth advertisement rendering script can be configured to cause the client device to receive an ad rendering application and an ad content package, and then render an interactive ad corresponding to the ad content package.

  • Patent number: 8571157
Abstract: A system for and method of validating a VoIP telephone number order is presented. The described systems and methods may allow for corrupt telephone numbers to be discovered and placed in a corrupt telephone number pool. To this end, data may be mined from class 5 switches and VoIP routers and then compared to the telephone numbers in the order. If a telephone number is found to be corrupt, it may be removed from the order and stored in the corrupt telephone number repository for later review. The ordering process for any other requested telephone numbers may then continue on without interruption to the processing of the entire order.

  • Patent number: 8170163
Abstract: A signaling system is described. The signaling system comprises a transmit device, a receive device including a partial response receive circuit, and a signaling path coupling the transmit device and the receive device. The receive device observes an equalized signal from the signaling path, and includes circuitry to use feedback from the most recent previously resolved symbol to sample a currently incoming symbol. • Patent number: 7587010
Abstract: A pseudo-image signal producing section produces a pseudo-image signal imitating an actual image signal. An amplitude detection section detects the amplitude of the pseudo-image signal having passed through a complex filter circuit. A filter control section controls an element value control section in the complex filter circuit so as to decrease the detected amplitude. The element value control section performs an element value adjustment so that absolute element values of a pair of elements corresponding to each other in two filter circuits in the complex filter circuit increase/decrease in opposite directions.

  • Patent number: 7200196
Abstract: The present invention provides a solution that eliminates both the voltage-controlled oscillator (“VXCO” 105) and its associated D/A converter (120) from the timing recovery scheme, thereby significantly reducing manufacturing costs for modems, such as asymmetric digital subscriber loop (“ADSL”) modems. The present invention also enables tracking of a wider frequency offset. The present invention provides this with a novel timing recovery scheme implemented entirely in the digital domain. The present invention includes a free running clock (205) as the sampling clock for the A/D (110) and D/A (115) converters, and interpolators (210, 220, 615 and 635) to correct timing errors for both the receive and transmit samples. The desired sample can be obtained based on its timing offset and its neighboring samples.

  • Patent number: 7068732
Abstract: A receiving apparatus and a power control method that permit standby power consumption to be reduced. If a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) stores an Entitlement Management Message (EMM), which is contained in a MPEG transport stream (MPEG TS) packet, in a memory, the DSP supplies a startup signal to a human interface (HI) microcomputer. According to the startup signal from the DSP, the HI microcomputer supplies power to a back-end portion to start up a main microcomputer, which causes the main microcomputer to initiate processing.

  • Patent number: 6895189
Abstract: A synchronization system in accordance with the principles of the invention includes a central synchronizing management unit, at least one synchronization distribution unit, and at least one network element. Each synchronization distribution unit receives synchronization and management information from the central synchronization management unit. This information may be transmitted directly from the central synchronization management unit, or it may be transmitted though another synchronization distribution unit in a group of a daisy-chained synchronization distribution units. The daisy-chained arrangement employs both active and passive optical paths. The central synchronizing management unit may query any synchronization distribution unit within the system to obtain performance statistics.

  • Patent number: 6798840
Abstract: The invention is a communication system having a series of output modules that provide continuous synchronization output signals. Each output module has a driver assembly has a driver output and a backup selector output that is capable of driving a failed next driver assembly. A sensor detects the failure of the driver output and generates a select signal in the failure state. A selector receives the driver output, a backup driver output, the select signal, and a select signal from the next driver assembly. The selector normally selects the driver output, but in response to a failure state from the select signal, isolates the failed driver output. The previous driver assembly transmits a backup selector output to the failed driver assembly to maintain a continuous driver output. The transformers are preferably placed on a separate card to reduce the thermal degradation of nearby electronics. As transformers rarely fail, replacing them when a card fails is wasteful.

  • Patent number: 6724804
Abstract: In a frequency converter, a phase-locked loop generates a local-oscillation signal having a low frequency, of a plurality of local-oscillation signals having different frequencies, based on an intermediate frequency beacon signal that results from mixing a predetermined beacon signal with the local-oscillation frequency signal. Even if the phase-locked loop is used to generate the low frequency local-oscillation signal only, a frequency offset and a phase noise taking place in remaining high frequency local-oscillation signals are compensated for or canceled out. The frequency converter thus results in a high frequency accuracy. This arrangement reduces the number of bulky, costly and power-consuming phase-locked oscillators, typically used in the quasi millimeter band or the millimeter band. A simplified, compact frequency converter is thus provided, reducing both installation and operating costs.
