Abstract: An image capturing apparatus performs automatic image capturing of a subject by using an image capturing unit, controls a plurality of images acquired by the automatic image capturing to be recorded in a recording unit, selects deletion candidate images from among the plurality of images recorded in the recording unit, based on a predetermined deletion condition, automatically deletes the deletion candidate images, and performs control so that information about images other than the deletion candidate images, among the plurality of images recorded in the recording unit and including the deletion candidate images before being automatically deleted, is transmitted to an external apparatus via a communication unit before the deletion candidate images are deleted so that the information is displayed on the external apparatus.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for, in a video encoding and decoding procedure, selecting a candidate motion vector of a current block from a motion vector candidate list of the current block, determining a motion vector of the current block by performing a motion search based on the candidate motion vector, performing motion compensation by using the determined motion vector of the current block, and applying local luminance compensation to the current block based on whether the local luminance compensation is to be applied to the current block, wherein a cost function used for performing the motion search is determined based on whether the local luminance compensation is to be applied to the current block.

Abstract: A moving picture decoding apparatus, method, and medium for decoding a current block are provided. A first candidate is derived from a first motion vector that has been used to decode a first block. The first block is adjacent to the current block. A second candidate having a second motion vector that includes a non-zero value is derived. The non-zero value is assigned to a corresponding reference picture. The second motion vector is not derived by decoding a block adjacent to the current block. A candidate is selected from a plurality of candidates, including the first candidate and the second candidate. The current block is decoded using the selected candidate. The second candidate includes the non-zero value of the corresponding reference picture, selected from a plurality of referable reference pictures.
Abstract: The invention introduces a method for rate control in an MB (macroblock) layer, including: calculating a prediction MAD (Mean Absolute Difference) of a current MB of a current frame according to a real MAD of a previous MB of a previous frame; calculating a real MAD of the current MB of the current frame; performing an adjustment procedure to adjust the prediction MAD of the current MB of the current frame according to the real MAD of the current MB of the current frame to obtain a final MAD of the current MB of the current frame; calculating a quantization parameter of the current MB of the current frame according to the final MAD of the current MB of the current frame; and outputting the quantization parameter of the current MB of the current frame to a quantizer.
