Weight Patents (Class 377/22)
  • Patent number: 5003489
Abstract: A totalizer apparatus, used with belt scales and other flow rate measuring devices producing output signals subject to zero drift, maintains an auxiliary totalizer register during zeroing operations so that should zero flow conditions be interrupted during such an operation, a correct total can still be maintained. This enables autozeroing operations to be implemented, for which purpose a further auxiliary totalizer is used to test for an extended absence of flow before permitting initiation of an autozeroing operation. If a zeroing operation results in an apparently excessive zero correction, it is rejected and assumed that flow has restarted during the operation; the first auxiliary totalizer register is used to update a primary register.

  • Patent number: 4866642
Abstract: The diameter of railroad wheels is calculated from data obtained by simultaneously producing two marker points on the tread surface of the wheel and simultaneously sensing these marker points and from data representing the known fixed location of the marker point generators and of the sensors. These data define a chord line and a chord height subtending the chord line. The length of the chord line and chord height in turn define the wheel diameter. A computer performs the calculations and provides a respective output that may be used for display or for controlling a tool such as a wheel truing machine.

  • Patent number: 4862396
Abstract: An apparatus and method for analyzing a pair of analog, generally sinusoidal, quadrature gauge signals from a conventional plunger-type gauge head includes digital ratio-metric comparison of signals using floating high and low reference conversion values for analog-to-digital conversion, such values being selectively obtained from the gauge signals and their complements. Intra-quadrant distance values are optionally scaled for detected variations in actual quadrant distance values from assumed nominal values therefor. The intra-quadrant distance value is summed with whole and partial signal cycle distance values to determine a total distance value for a given plunger movement.

  • Patent number: 4674060
Abstract: A scale under microprocessor control weighs each batch of currency. The weight measurement is compared against predetermined stored weight values to determine if the currency being weighed is strap currency or unstrapped currency and to determine the range of the currency count. Dependent upon the result of these comparisons, the proper routine is selected during which the last currency measurement is compared against the measurement criteria of the selected routine to either confirm the accuracy of the count or indicate an error. An average strap value is created from a table of stored values for at least one of the strap quantities and is updated each time a strap of that quantity is weighed. The averaging technique employed creates an average from the weights of the last ten straps of that quantity measured, and which are stored in the table. The averaging is performed after the table is updated.
