Abstract: The present technology relates to managing workload within a storage system. A quality of service parameter proposal associated with managing incoming network traffic is generated and provided to a plurality of nodes. The generated quality of service parameter proposal to manage the incoming network traffic is modified based on a response received from the nodes. The incoming network traffic is serviced using the data from the modified quality of service parameter proposal.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to systems and methods for tracking local and remote file usage, and aggregating the resulting file usage statistics for presentation to a user. The operating system of a local computer can track and generate local file usage statistics, such as most recently used files and editing time. A Web application or service, such as an email or word processing application or service, can record the file usage data for a user's remote stored or served files. A file usage aggregator module, which can be located or resident in the operating system of the local computer or hosted at a Web site, can receive and combine the local and remote file usage statistics. The file usage aggregator module can generate a display of the aggregated file usage statistics, so that local and remote files are listed in a most-recently used order, on a combined basis.

Abstract: An image communicating apparatus includes a controller, a communication unit that transmits an image to a transmission destination of input destination information, and a character recognizing unit that recognizes, from an image including destination information of a transmission destination, the destination information. The controller transmits an image to the transmission destination by using the communication unit in a case where the recognized destination information matches the input destination information. In addition, the image communicating apparatus includes a memory that stores input destination information. The input destination information is stored in the memory in a case where the input destination information matches the recognized destination information.

Abstract: A method and system for providing a user with digital content includes a user interface provided to a user for allowing the user to be presented with the digital content. The method and system includes receiving authentication information from the user and authenticating the user if the authentication method correctly corresponds with previously stored information of the user. As a result, the user has access to the digital content, wherein the digital content is information from a third party, e.g., a vendor of goods or services or information provider, based on a user profile which comprises user preferences. The digital content is then presented to the user interface.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media for advertising-supported call service are disclosed. According to one method, a SIP call setup message associated with a first call from a calling subscriber to a called subscriber is received. It is then determined whether the calling subscriber subscribes to a play advertisement pay less (PAPL) service. In response to determining that the calling subscriber subscribes to the PAPL service, an advertisement is presented to the calling subscriber via the subscriber's telephone, the call is connected to the called subscriber, and a reduced charge is effected for the call based on the PAPL service.

Abstract: Management of multiple subscriber identity modules by server is disclosed. If, however, it is determined that the cost does not satisfy the one or more cost parameters, the one or more communications may be stored by the utility meter for subsequent transmission.

In various implementations, a series of dial pulses received from a telephony device can be counted to determine whether the series is valid. In the prior art, directory assistance provides a value-added service to telephone users and an expense that must be charged back to telephone callers or absorbed by telephone carriers. In enhanced directory assistance (EDA) services as described in the disclosure, EDA is further developed to deliver a keyword targeted advertising service to telephone listing owners and advertisers. The present invention provides a method and system to extend EDA services to the wireless messaging systems used by telecommunications operators. The invention further discloses methods to support both one-way and two-way communications on these devices, as well as systems to support the distributed EDA Transaction business model.

A fee might also be charged for each time the application is used. These fees are recorded as debits and transferred to an invoicing location where an invoice reflecting the debits is constructed. For example, the debits may comprise fees for wireless service access, Internet service access, downloaded application programs, data, multimedia services, or other fees.

If the message is a display message, the call charge included in the display message is detected, and the call charge is outputted to the display window and/or the printer. Accordingly, a user can identify the call charge easily and conveniently.

Abstract: A telecommunication network exchange and method of playing an announcement to a call party in a telephone exchange during connection set-up. The invention is based on the idea of totally separating the detection of the need for an announcement from playing the announcement. The need for the announcement is detected in a conventional manner at a given stage of call set-up. However, the exchange does not play the announcement immediately, but delays playing it up to a later stage of call set-up or up to a later event, if necessary. The announcement may be played, for example, not until collection of additional dialing is definitely terminated, the call is confirmed to be successful, the announcement is confirmed to be necessary/correct, and so on. As a consequence of the delayed playing of the announcement, wrong and unnecessary announcements and the failure of the call are thus avoided.

Abstract: It is desirable to be able to recognize data calls so that different charges can be applied to such calls and that vertical services, such as the use of special transmission facilities, may be offered to data callers. Abstract: A voice enhanced phone card which allows a caller to place a call by voice activated dialing only when the caller desires it is presented. A caller places a call using a standard calling card switch number and enters a predetermined service code. The voice enhanced phone card system recognizes the service code, and using known telephone switching capabilities, switches the call to a voice activated dialing system at a main feature point in the voice activated dialing system call flow. The call is then connected to a destination using the voice activated dialing routine.
