Entertainmemt Appliance (e.g., Tv, Vcr, Radio, Etc.) Patents (Class 379/102.03)
  • Patent number: 12093707
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to action recipes for a crowdsourced digital assistant. Users can define an action recipe by recording a set of inputs across one or more applications, by providing multiple sub-commands in a single on-the-fly command, by providing one or more associated commands, or otherwise. An action recipe dataset is generated, and stored and indexed on a user device and/or on an action cloud server. As such, any user can invoke an action recipe by providing an associated command to a crowdsourced digital assistant application on a user device. The crowdsourced digital assistant searches for a matching command on the user device and/or the action cloud server, and if a match is located, the corresponding action recipe dataset is accessed, and the crowdsourced digital assistant emulates the actions in the action recipe on the user device.

Abstract: In a system for identifying subscriber lines, an end of a subscriber line is coupled to and terminated by a transceiver of interest. The other end of the subscriber line is coupled to a speaker. The transceiver is then selectively activated and deactivated causing it to transmit its normal frequency spectrum in a predefined pattern. The frequency spectrum includes frequencies audible to humans. Thus, the speaker produces sound capable of being heard by a human, and the sound exhibits periods of noise followed by periods of silence. Indeed, the periods of noise and silence are in a pattern according to the activation/deactivation pattern of the transceiver. Thus, a user can identify the subscriber line that is coupled to the transceiver by identifying which of the lines is coupled to the speaker when the speaker emits noise and silence according to the predefined pattern.

Abstract: A transceiver includes: a TV signal receiving unit for generating a first audio signal from a received broadcast wave; a decoder for decoding a reception signal received from the transceiver, to generate a second audio signal; an adding unit for transmitting the second audio signal to a speaker or adding up and transmit, to the speaker, the first audio signal and the second audio signal, and for outputting a reference signal; and an echo canceller for estimating a pseudo echo component from the reference signal, and cancels the pseudo echo component in a picked-up signal picked up by microphone a sound outputted from the speaker. The adding unit, when the TV signal receiving unit receives the broadcast wave, adds and transmits, to the speaker, the first audio signal and the second audio signal, and outputs a signal resulting from the addition as the reference signal to the echo canceller.

  • Patent number: 8644481
Abstract: A system and method for improved audio controls on a personal computer is provided. The system and method provide a unified architecture for audio controls across hardware and software interfaces of the personal computer. An intelligent facility may automatically change audio controls for users to simply interact with various communications and media applications. To this end, a configurable audio controller intelligently handles various aspects of the system's audio devices by following various rules that may be based at least in part on user-configurable settings and a current operating state. The present invention also provides audio controls so that a user may easily change audio settings such as the volume of an audio output device. There are many applications that may use the present invention for automatic control of audio devices based upon the user's context.

  • Patent number: 8509400
Abstract: A method and system for adaptively configuring a remote control includes analyzing a log of events, maintained by the remote control, which indicate how the remote control and the devices it controls are used by a user. Once the analysis is performed, the system and method can suggest alternative configurations of the remote control to the user. The range and type of alternative configurations is not particularly limited and can include changing which devices are employed for various user activities and/or how those activities are performed, the placement and hierarchy of commands in a menu tree and/or troubleshooting and set up configurations. The analysis can be performed either partially or totally within the remote control, or at, or in conjunction with, a service to which the remote control connects through a network.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for controlling a cordless telephone device for use in a system that allows remote control of a home electric appliance. The method includes a first generation step of causing a first generation unit in a handset to encode audio input via a sound receiving unit in the handset to generate a first stream, and a first transmission step of transmitting the first stream to a base unit. The first generation step includes causing the first generation unit to generate instruction bit information and a first instruction stream when a first trigger indicating a request to start the remote control is given to the first generation unit. The first transmission step includes transmitting the instruction bit information and the first instruction stream to the base unit through a multiplexing scheme that is common to transmission of a first stream generated when the first trigger is not given.
