  • Patent number: 7046774
Abstract: An intercom apparatus has a main line connecting intercom master stations in respective residential rooms. Each master station has a terminal unit which is separate from and removable from the master station, so that the terminal unit can be removed according to need while keeping the connection. The intercom apparatus further has an entrance substation by which the master stations in residential rooms may be called from the entrance substation through the main line for bilateral communication. The terminal unit has terminals for connecting with intercom master stations by a station-to-station spanning wiring forming the main line and a terminal board on which the terminals are mounted for electrical connection with the main line path. A mounting bracket, by which the terminal unit is detachably mounted, is provided in a space which is formed in the backside of the intercom master station.

  • Patent number: 6885738
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for activating an electronic lock in an intelligent switched telecommunications network having a plurality of Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN) components. A call is received from a device communicating with the telecommunications network. The call is from a calling party to a called party. Processing of the call within the telecommunications network is suspended. A database is queried for a telephone number of the called party. The database stores telephone numbers of called parties subscribing to a lock service provided by a telecommunications service provider. The lock service allows a user to remotely activate an electronic lock using the telecommunications network. If the query is successful, processing of the call within the telecommunications network is resumed. The call is used to activate the electronic lock.

  • Patent number: 6762788
Abstract: The present invention provides a wireless video/audio transmission device for bi-directional communications, which comprises an emitting device and a receiving device. The emitting device comprises a 2.4 GHz or 5.7 GHz emitting module and a UHF receiving module. The receiving device comprises a 2.4 GHz or 5.7 GHz receiving module and a UHF emitting module. Video, audio, and a digital control instruction are emitted out by the emitting module after signal processing and transmitted to the receiving module. The receiving module is used to demodulate and convert the signal into a video, an audio, and an output control instruction. A control instruction and an analog audio signal are mixed and modulated by the UHF emitting module and emitted out to the UHF receiving module, thereby demodulating and converting the signal into an audio signal and an output instruction.

  • Publication number: 20040120486
Abstract: A method for implementing a remote receiver connected to a telephony network can include a call authorizer that can access remote receiver specific information, wherein the remote receiver specific information can include an authorization requirement. The call authorizer can receive a digitally encoded signal specifying an authorization code. Prior to a telephony connection being established between the remote receiver and an originating device, the call authorizer can determine whether the authorization code satisfies the authorization requirement. Responsive to this determination, the call authorizer can send a ringing signal via the telephone line to the remote receiver. The remote receiver can power an actuator within the remote receiver with a voltage from the ringing signal. The actuator can activate a device controlled by the remote receiver.

Abstract: An apartment building alerting system and method are disclosed which use the Public Switching Telephone Network (PSTN) to alert and connect visitors to residents. The PSTN system generally has a visitor interface unit located in the apartment building and is connected over a regular telephone line to a telephone switch located at an end office which serves the local area. The visitor interface unit also includes an auto dialler which takes a resident name, an apartment number or some other means for identifying a particular resident of the apartment building and translates it into a PSTN directory number (DN) associated with the telephone physically located in the resident's apartment. To contact a particular resident a visitor uses the visitor interface to identify a particular resident and the auto dialler proceeds to dial a corresponding PSTN DN associated with the resident. Where the resident answers the call the telephone switch connects the visitor with the resident over the PSTN.
