Abstract: The invention relates to, among others, a network device (10, 11, 12) for an intercom network (13) for permitting an audio communication, in particular a duplex audio communication with other users (14a, 14b, 14c, 14d, 14e, 14f) of the intercom network, comprising a housing (33) and a communication module (20a, 20b) arranged therein or thereon, with which a radio link can be established for the transmission of audio signals to another user, wherein the radio link is subject to the DECT protocol. The speciality, among others, consists in that the network device (10, 11, 12) comprises a means (21) for preventing or reducing multipath interferences.

Abstract: Provided is a mobile terminal that communicates with a server that performs call control between an intercom disposed in a lobby of an apartment building and an indoor monitor. The server stores event information transmitted from the intercom, the indoor monitor, or a terminal apparatus connected to the server. The mobile terminal includes: a receiver that receives the event information from the server; and a display section that displays the event information in chronological order from an upper side to a lower side of a display apparatus and that scroll displays the event information.

Abstract: In an intercom system to be used in an apartment complex configured by residential buildings and a centralized building that can communicate with the residential buildings, the residential buildings includes: residential room master devices disposed in residential rooms, collective entrance devices which can communicate with the residential room master devices; and a building controller. The building controller has: a building controller ID that, when the centralized building is called by one of the residential room master devices via the building controller, is used in recognition in which the centralized building recognizes the building controller; and a collective entrance device ID that, when the centralized building is called by one of the residential room master devices via the building controller, is used in recognition in which the one residential room master device recognizes the building controller as a virtual collective entrance device that is different from the collective entrance devices.

Abstract: A security system has a camera; a sensor generating a signal in response to a triggering event, and a management module. The triggering event is one of an actuation of a doorbell button, an actuation of a bell connected to and operated by a doorbell button, door opening detection, motion detection, proximity detection and infrared (IR) beam interruption. The management module is adapted to send data to be received by a remote communication device upon generation by the sensor of the signal generated in response to the triggering event. The management module is also adapted to initiate a connection between the remote communication device and the camera, the connection permitting data exchange between the remote communication device and the camera. The security system allows a person located in a vicinity of the camera installed at a building or a house to communicate with a user of a remote communication device.

Abstract: A system and method for remote home monitoring and intercom communication. An indicator is received for activating an interactive feature of a telephone. A determination is made whether the indicator authorizes the interactive feature. The audio interface of the telephone is activated.

Abstract: An improved public intercom system is described which has a sealed enclosure including an extruded chassis having a front wall and a rear wall. The front wall has an interface panel and a viewing panel mounted within cutouts. A plurality of axially aligned module cover plates supporting system components are mounted over cutouts in the rear wall. The interface includes a speaker, a microphone, a call initiation means, and a camera positioned to acquire images of the area in front of the interface panel. One of the cover plates including an outer surface with heat dissipation protrusions, with a blower located on said rear wall being oriented to direct air across the protrusions to extract heat from the chassis interior. A two-way communication means is mounted on a module plate and programmed to initiate a call to a pre-programmed receiver responsive to a command from the call initiation means.

The device includes a communication transceiver configured to communicate with a remote system via a predetermined communication channel. A control circuit is coupled to the communication transceiver. The control circuit is configured to determine a device operating mode status based on communication transceiver activity. The device operating mode status includes a telephonic communications mode and a remote system communications mode. An interface circuit is coupled to at least one telephone set. The interface circuit is configured to propagate voice telephony signals between the at least one telephone set and a telephony network in a telephonic communications mode and propagate voice intercom signals between the at least one telephone set and the communication transceiver in the remote system communications mode.

Abstract: An authentication device for fitting at the entrance to a property includes an externally facing interface including a speaker and a microphone; an internally facing interface comprising a speaker, a microphone and a keypad; and a processing unit including electrical interfaces to both the internally and externally facing interfaces and to a telephone unit. The internally facing keypad includes a button which permits a user to cause the processing unit to initiate a call using the telephone unit to a remote voice verification center via the telephone unit and the PSTN to which it is interfaced when in use (via standard telephone socket). The processing unit is additionally operable to communicate audio signals between the remote voice verification center and at least the externally facing interface (i.e. the speaker and microphone thereof), whereby a visitor may be remotely verified by the remote voice verification center before the householder grants the visitor admission to the property.

Abstract: Disclosed is a door intercom system, which is installed on a door of a community for communicating with and identifying a visitor and opening/closing the door through a network by an inhabitant among a plurality of inhabitants of the community and capable of transferring data to a system provider through the network. The door intercom system has a central processing unit (CPU) connected to a database, a dialing key module, a display module, a video and audio processing module and a network interface, respectively. In the database, inhabitant codes, network logon numbers and identification numbers of the plurality of inhabitants are stored. When the visitor inputs an inhabitant code through the dialing key module, the CPU acquires the network logon number corresponding to the inhabitant and is communicatively connected to the network through the network interface, the network being connected at the other end to the inhabitant end or the system provider through a public switched telephone network (PSTN).

Abstract: The invention is a messaging subsystem used in combination with a software based intercom system for receiving and handling voice telephone calls from a plurality of callers and/or notes. The invention comprises a message pad module resident in the intercom system for capturing information pertaining to the voice telephone calls from the plurality of callers and/or notes. A database stores information obtained from the callers and/or notes other than the captured information. A computer module or program correlates the captured information to the corresponding stored information obtained from the callers and/or notes in the database. In the preferred embodiment, the database comprises a patient treatment database corresponding to treatment provided to a patient, such as a dental or medical history.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a gate access system that includes an imaging system configured to capture an image of an object disposed in a predetermined field of view in response to an image capture signal. The imaging system is also configured to associate time/date data with the image. The time/date data represents a time and a date when the image was captured. At least one gate access panel device is disposed in the field of view and coupled to the imaging system. The at least one gate access panel device is configured to transmit the image capture signal in response to being actuated. A gate transceiver is coupled to the imaging system. The transceiver is configured to transmit the image and the time/date data via a wireless communication channel.

Abstract: A method allowing the audio and video signals of an intercom system to be extended to a mobile communication device via Internet is provided. A server device functions as a relay between a residence-end device of the intercom system and a mobile communication device. The server device is able to forward the audio and video signals from the residence-end device to the mobile communication device through the Internet. Correspondingly, the voice, video, and control signals from the mobile communication device are passed to the server device which in turn feeds the signals to the voice, video, and control circuits of the residence-end device.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for wireless doorbell and security control panel interaction is provided. The system includes a wireless doorbell, a security control panel, and at least one control panel activation device having a transmitter and a manually activated switch or button. The control panel is in communication with the at least one control panel activation device by way of the transmitter. The control panel includes a receiver for receiving signals transmitted from the at least one control panel activation device via the transmitter. A security keypad having a speaker device for broadcasting an alarm or message related to functions of the security system is in communication with the control panel as well. At least one auxiliary security device is also in communication with the control panel. The auxiliary security device may include an assortment of devices that perform ancillary functions that enhance the functionality of the security control panel.

Abstract: An electronic apartment station intercom unit, housed in a vandal proof enclosure, providing a means for a tenant to communicate with apartment building main entrance door panel and means to unlock said door. This unit has a power storage unit that enables this unit to be compatible with existing apartment building switching units. This power storage unit can be in the form of capacitors. In addition, this unit also contains a timer to shut the intercom unit off after a preset period of time.

Abstract: Methods and systems for allowing communication between an exterior and an interior of a location, or a person associated with the location. A device positioned exterior to the location is connected to a communications system of the location. The device includes a signal generator for providing a signal responsive to input such as from a person on the exterior. In response, the communications system initiates or forwards a communication to a communications unit such as a wireless unit of a person associated with the location. The communication may be initiated or forwarded after a selected time. The device exterior to the location allows for participation in the communication. A voicemail or other system may be included for receiving a message if the communication is not answered. The device may be switchable to doorbell mode, in which case, the device does not generate the signal to the communications system and no communication is initiated or forwarded.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for controlling communications privacy in a Home Network telephone system. The method comprises: using a gateway to send and receive calls on at least one external telephone line; supplying privacy and public mode bridging options; and, selectively excluding bridges between external telephone lines and a plurality of Home Network endpoints. In response to the privacy mode being selected, the gateway bridges a call between a first external telephone line and a first endpoint, and prevents bridges between the first external telephone line and other endpoints in the system. Alternately, when the public mode is selected, the gateway bridges a call between the first external telephone line and the first endpoint; and permits bridges between the first external telephone line and other endpoints in the system. That is, while the call is bridged to the first endpoint, a bridge is added between the first telephone line and the second endpoint.

The intercom service request includes a calling number associated with a location. The calling number is determined to correspond to a subscriber to the intercom service. Abstract: A security system and method is disclosed for use with a security gate entry system that uses a telephone or other communication system at a security gate for communication by a person seeking entry into the secure area with a residence or other unit in the secure area. When a person seeking entry to a limited access area calls on the voice communication system, provided at a security gate entry system a residence or other unit within the secure complex the party answering the call has the option of disguising or altering the voice characteristics of the person answering the call. The system in a preferred embodiment shifts the audio characteristics of a female or child's voice to that of an adult male.

Abstract: A card, particularly a digital line card is provided for use with a chassis having a slot for receiving the digital line card. The chassis has an Ethernet bus for receiving packets from the line card and has a power supply and power strip for supplying power to the line card. The line card includes a public switched telephone network (PSTN) digital line input/output interface for sending digital signals over the PSTN and for receiving digital signals from PSTN. A line card control processor is connected to the digital line input/output interface. An Ethernet input/output is provided for sending packets over a local network corresponding to signals received from the telephone line and for receiving packets from the local network and forwarding received signals to the digital line input/output interface.

Abstract: A parallel-connected dialing signal detection and transmission-inhibiting device is disclosed which detects dual-tone multi-frequency dialing signals across tip and ring conductors of a telephone link and switches in an a.c. load that attenuates the dialing signals by at least 30 dB. This prevents action in response to the DTMF signals by a central office servicing the telephone link, thereby allowing commands-data to be transmitted within the home telephone wiring. Such commands can be used to invoke a speed/auto dialing function, to provide an intercom, to control appliances, etc. To allow fast response, the controller charges a capacitor of the a.c. load by connecting it across the tip and ring conductors in response to an off-hook condition. Then it is disconnected to allow a dial tone to reach a user at the telephone. Further transparency is provided by the fact that a single interfacing capacitor connects both the dialing signal detector and a tone generator to the tip line.

Abstract: A home telephone system uses one or more super mini-private branch exchange (PBX) devices that enable telephone units on a same internal phone line to ring each other without involving a central office. After identifying a call as an internal call, the super mini-PBX devices may ring all other telephone units within the home. Alternatively, the home telephone system may assign different numerical numbers and/or ring styles to specific telephone units so that a specific telephone unit may be reached directly by dialing an assigned number from one of the telephone units within the home. When only one super mini-PBX exists, the home telephone system may assign different ring styles to reach a particular telephone unit. The home telephone system uses existing telephone equipment without the need of special wiring, thus improving in-home communication without the complexity or additional cost associated with intercom systems. In addition, the home telephone system affords private conversation within the home.

Abstract: For single line telephone service, let red/green denote a pair that is connected to the central office, and yellow/black denote an unused pair, but which also appears at the connections to the subscribers equipment. Any computer or other device that is to be interruptible by an ordinary handset is connected to red/green through a phone service re-allocation circuit that is also connected to, and that monitors, yellow/black. An extension allowed to cause an interrupt is connected to yellow/black. For RJ-11 connections an adapter routes the yellow/black (in the wall) over to the terminals normally used for red/green. An off hook condition of the interrupting equipment connected to the adapter now serves as part of a signal to the re-allocation circuit. Upon a signal, the re-allocation circuit terminates the access of the interruptible equipment to the red/green pair, and bridges the red/green pair to the yellow/black pair instead.

Abstract: A wall-hung or shelf situated free-standing voice memorandum system allows an individual to record a message for another member of the household. the system can be used in connection with a household doorbell system so that at the user's choice, the system either operates simply as a doorbell or when the door button is pressed plays at the door a greeting that the user has recorded, invites the visitor to leave voice messages for the household-and-records any messages given.
