Patent number: 9825764Abstract: Systems and methods for enhanced security of media are provided. Media security may be enhanced by improving the setup of encryption and/or decryption, by improving the performance of encryption and/or decryption, or by improving both. The calls related to enhanced security of media from an application in an emulated environment to a security module in the operating system hosting the emulated environment may be combined to reduce the overhead of accessing a security module. An application handling secure shell (SSH) communications may execute multiple calls to a cryptographic module in the host operating system. Because many calls to the cryptographic module during SSH communications follow patterns, two or more related calls may be combined into a single combined call to the cryptographic module. For example, a call to generate a server-to-client key and a call to generate a client-to-server key may be combined into a single call.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2014Date of Patent: November 21, 2017Assignee: Unisys CorporationInventors: Kevin Clayton, Peter Wilkes, Yuko Onishi, Raymond Campbell

Patent number: 8891514Abstract: A system and method for providing PBX-like functionality at a mobile location includes the capability of maintaining a network session with a mobile number associated with a remote worker. The system utilizes a remote office platform interposed between a data communications network and a conventional PBX switch. Patent number: 7251242Abstract: At least one queue is provided per current branch pattern in a network node. In this way, a queue can be jointly used for a plurality of distribution compartments which are imaged onto the same branch pattern in said node. Arriving packets are differentiated according to the particular distribution compartment to which they belong (i.e. not according to a particular flow to which they belong inside the distribution compartment). They are then inserted into a corresponding queue accordingly. Said queues are used by the ports belonging to each branch pattern. As soon as a port is free, it selects the next queue to use. The selection thus begins in sufficient time to ensure that no gaps appear on the outgoing line from said port. If a port uses a plurality (in this case fully or partially overlapping) of branch patterns, a search is then carried out for non-empty queues in all of that branch patterns, during the selection.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2002Date of Patent: July 31, 2007Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventor: Karl Schrodi

Patent number: 7228145Abstract: A switching system adjunct (120) monitors a call between a calling and a called party and reestablishes the call when one of the parties has been or is being dropped. The reestablishment may be effected to a same or a different phone number of the dropped party, and may be effected via the same or a different medium (e.g., wired or wireless). The call record of the original call is merged into the call record of the reestablished call, thus preserving the context of entities involved in the call that exists at the time that the party is dropped.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2003Date of Patent: June 5, 2007Assignee: Avaya Technology Corp.Inventors: David R. Patent number: 7191020Abstract: This invention provides an output service provision system which is capable of allowing a user to easily receive a provided output service, providing an output service responsive to the user and flexibly coping with situational variations. Upon determining that a virtual object B is in an area-in state with respect to a virtual object A, a virtual object management device can transmit an area-in notification to a projector. Upon receiving the area-in notification, the projector can transmit a projector display data transmission request to a portable terminal and receive projector display data transmitted in response to the transmission request. The projector can then execute a projection process by a projection device on the basis of the received projector display data. The portable terminal can transmit the projector display data to the projector in response to the projector display data transmission request.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 2005Date of Patent: March 13, 2007Assignee: Seiko Epson CorporationInventors: Yoshiki Fukui, Shinya Taniguchi, Naruhide Kitada

Patent number: 6975718Abstract: A communication system includes a tenant with multiple physical locations that include a number of packet enabled telecommunications devices managed by one or more call managers. To generate a route plan for use by a call manager in managing calls from these devices, a route plan wizard determines routing options, location information for the tenant, and gateway information for gateways available to the tenant and then automatically generates a route plan for use in routing telephone calls originating from the managed packet enabled telecommunications devices based on this information.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2004Date of Patent: December 13, 2005Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Christopher E. Patent number: 6822942Abstract: A distributed features system is disclosed which permits a telecommunication network to accommodate the creation of open multimedia services. In accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, protocol extensions for a distributed feature system are disclosed which accommodate a broader range of media choices than conventional telephony. Protocols are disclosed for internal calls between modules in the distributed feature system that permit a module to open and close any number of media channels to be utilized in the communication usage. A protocol is also disclosed for internal calls between modules in the distributed feature system that is more appropriate for a packet-switched reference implementation.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2000Date of Patent: November 23, 2004Assignee: AT&T Corp.Inventors: Michael A. Patent number: 6816587Abstract: A virtual private line connection method allowing efficient and economical virtual private line service in the public ISDN is disclosed. When a SS7 (common channel signalling system No. 7) message is generated in response to a call originated by a terminal accommodated in a PBX, the SS7 message is encapsulated in an ISDN message and the ISDN message is sent to the destination PBX on a D channel. When the destination PBX receives the ISDN message, the SS7 message is read from the received ISDN message to establish the virtual private line between the PBXs.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 2000Date of Patent: November 9, 2004Assignee: NEC CorporationInventors: Takeo Orui, Takashi Okumura

Publication number: 20040179669Abstract: A virtual private communications network (VPCN) and method of managing calls on the network. Stations on a private communications network are identified by an unique private network identification (ID) code or dial in direct (DID) number. Remote communications devices (e.g., cell phones, analog phones, etc.) are virtual client devices connected from a public communications network to the private communications network. One or more DID numbers are shared DID numbers, dedicated for the virtual client devices. Calls from the virtual client devices may be placed to network stations by dialing shorthand (e.g., 5 or fewer digits) numbers. Each call has a dedicated DID number temporarily assigned to it for placing the call as an in network call. Once the call reaches its final destination, the shared DID number is released for temporary assignment to other virtual client device calls.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 10, 2003Publication date: September 16, 2004Applicant: Siemens Information and Communication Networks, Inc.Inventors: Leroy Edwin Gilbert, Robert W. Patent number: 6788649Abstract: An intelligent network implementing processes and apparatus for supporting ATM/Vnet services. The intelligent network comprises the ability to receive an ATM VNET call at an ATM switch associated with a service node of the intelligent network, translate the dialed VNET number and then extend the call to a correct termination. Prior to the outdial, source address and subscription validation, destination address screening, source address screening and VNET number translation are performed. In one embodiment, assuming that the VNET call is an ATM to ATM call, no number translation is required. In placing Vnet/ATM calls, the network does all resource allocation, e.g., bandwidth reservation and allocation. The resource specification in the ATM setup message (e.g., bandwidth) is validated against the customer's subscription versus the current network utilization.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 1999Date of Patent: September 7, 2004Assignee: MCI, Inc.Inventors: Andrew Dugan, David McDyson, Sami Syed
