  • Patent number: 11831809
Abstract: Certain exemplary aspects of the present disclosure are directed to a data-communications system including a networked contact center for which, in an example embodiment, a communication is received by a networked contact center. In determining whether to allow the communication to reach contact center resources, a contact rate value is examined. The contact rate value may represent an allowable quantity of contact within a time interval. For some example embodiments, a determination of whether the network contact center is to accept or reject the communication is made based on the contact rate value.

  • Patent number: 11405121
Abstract: A system on a chip (SOC) is configured to support multiple time domains within a time-sensitive networking (TSN) environment. TSN extends Ethernet networks to support a deterministic and high-availability communication on Layer 2 (data link layer of open system interconnect “OSI” model) for time coordinated capabilities such as industrial automation and control applications. Processors in a system may have an application time domain separate from the communication time domain. In addition, each type time domain may also have multiple potential time masters to drive synchronization for fault tolerance. The SoC supports multiple time domains driven by different time masters and graceful time master switching. Timing masters may be switched at run-time in case of a failure in the system. Software drives the SoC to establish communication paths through a sync router to facilitate communication between time providers and time consumers. Multiple time sources are supported.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for the communicating between remote devices using a low message rate wireless connection via monitoring, control and information systems. The network described in this invention is capable of supporting billions of such devices in an efficient and cost effective manner. The network uses a very low signaling rate and centrally controlled architecture in order to achieve this efficiency. The network can easily support numerous applications each controlling large numbers of devices. As the complexity of protocol used in the network is very much reduced in comparison to existing hierarchical mobile wireless networks, it is possible to produce devices that use very little energy allowing their use in many new and novel applications.

  • Patent number: 8170187
Abstract: A system for (and a method of) selectively establishing communication with one of plural devices associated with a single telephone number during a disaster or disaster recovery period. In a preferred embodiment, the system includes two wireless connection units, each connected between a respective private branch exchange (PBX) network and a public switched telephone network. Each wireless connection unit preferably serves as a gateway between its respective PBX network and one or more remote communication devices. The wireless connection units replicate each others databases. In the event of a disaster that destroys or renders one of the wireless connect/PBX networks inoperable, telephone calls destined for the inoperable network are seamlessly routed to the operable wireless connect/PBX network. Since the operable wireless connection unit contains information for both networks, inbound, outbound and extension to extension calls for each network can be handled despite the disaster.

Abstract: An apparatus and technique configures an intermediate network node, such as an aggregation router, to implement automatic protection switching (APS) redundancy among its line cards in the event of a failure to one of those cards. The APS line card redundancy provides redundancy among a pair of line cards connected to a performance routing engine of the router. Internal APS data paths are implemented in the router through the provision of an alias logic circuit that selects packet data from one of an adjacent pair of line cards and sends identical copies of data to that adjacent pair of line cards.

Abstract: The present invention provides clear and robust arbitration of which of two system controllers is in control of a telecommunications switching system. Each system controller monitors and actively reports its status to a separate arbitration circuit. The resultant signal from the arbitration circuit tells the system which controller to obey. By feedback of its own output unnecessary switching or ill-defined control states are avoided. In particular, if either both or neither system controllers is reporting itself as OK, the system does not switch controllers. In addition, the arbitration circuit is fed redundant clock signals and support, making it effectively redundant.

Abstract: An agent workstation in a computer-telephony system is controlled to provide a fault tolerance technique. A telephony device driver in the workstation is controlled by a server process in the workstation. A first client process interfaces a controller to the server process. The controller is also interfaced to the server process by a second client process, the second client process serving as an alternate interface between the controller and the server process in the event of failure by the first client process. Control of the server process by the controller is transferred from the first client process to the second client process in the event of failure by the first client process.

Abstract: Any one of a plurality of terminals sharing the same number determines whether or not to switch a transfer to any of the other terminals sharing the same number. If it determines that the transfer is to be switched, it authenticates one terminal among the other terminals sharing the same number, and then outputs a transfer switching request according to the authenticated terminal to a communication control station. The communication control station performs a transfer switching process concerning the authenticated terminal based on the transfer switching request outputted from the first terminal.

Abstract: A high-capacity electronic switching system includes two or more first stage switch modules to each of which one or more subscriber terminals (telephone sets, fax machines, personal computers, etc.) are connected and each of which executes signal switching for signals from/to the subscriber terminals, and a second stage switch module for switching signals between the first stage switch modules. In the high-capacity electronic switching system, each of the first stage switch modules is connected to another one of the first stage switch modules via a special-purpose link for setting a communication link between the first stage switch modules when necessary. For example, the setting of the communication link via the special-purpose link is executed when an abnormal condition of the second stage switch module occurred and normal communication link setting between two first stage switch modules via the second stage switch module is impossible.

Abstract: Apparatus of facilitating circuit card replacement without down time, comprising a redundancy connector assembly having a first connector and a second connector, a redundant bus, and a first circuit card coupled to the first connector of the redundancy connector assembly. The first circuit card has a logic circuit and a switch operable to selectively couple and decouple the logic circuit to one of the first connector and the redundant bus. A second circuit card also has a logic circuit and a switch operable to selectively couple and decouple the logic circuit to the redundant bus. A bypass cable is used to couple the second connector of the redundancy connector assembly to the second circuit card during replacement of the first circuit card and routing signals destined for the first circuit card to the second circuit card.

Abstract: The present invention concerns an exchange control method, wherein an old host exchange accommodating a remote switch unit or subscribers is adapted to be accommodated in a new host exchange, and its object is to allow call processing control to be performed by the new host exchange while making effective use of the resources of the old host exchange including the remote switch unit. The new host exchange and the old host exchange are connected in an interoffice configuration by a signaling link, and each exchange includes an emulation processor; the old host exchange and the new host exchange perform message editing and exchange between the respective emulation processors, and exchange control is performed in such a manner that when there occurs data or a request for basic control that is normally processed at the old host exchange, the data or request is transferred to the new host exchange, and the new host exchange processes the data or request and sends a notification to the old host exchange.

Abstract: Restoration of an inoperative network element (12) such as a digital cross-connect system is accomplished by receiving updates from each element as they occur in a local controller network (18). The local controller network forwards the updates to a DCS-Operations support system (22) that generates a restoration map for each element in its native language, and thereafter updates each map upon receipt of each update. In response to a user command, the DCS-operation system directs (transmits) the update map either to directly the inoperative element or to an intermediate element to achieve restoration.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a procedure for ensuring the operation of signalling channels in a V5 interface between a local exchange (LE) and an access node (AN). The interface includes at least two links (L), in conjunction with redefinition of the interface composition. Redefinition generally involves making changes in the V5 interface data, such as the location of signalling channels on the links. According to the invention, the operation of protected channels in conjunction with restarting is ensured by starting the protected channels on the channels defined for them in the new composition and on the channels to which they were transferred in conjunction with the protection switch-over.
