  • Patent number: 8199905
Abstract: The present disclosure generally pertains to systems and methods for identifying subscriber lines coupled to transceivers of interest. In one exemplary embodiment, an end of a subscriber line is coupled to and terminated by a transceiver of interest. The other end of the subscriber line is coupled to a speaker. The transceiver is then selectively activated and deactivated causing it to transmit its normal frequency spectrum in a predefined pattern. The frequency spectrum includes frequencies audible to humans. Thus, the speaker produces sound capable of being heard by a human, and the sound exhibits periods of noise followed by periods of silence. Indeed, the periods of noise and silence are in a pattern according to the activation/deactivation pattern of the transceiver. Thus, a user can identify the subscriber line that is coupled to the transceiver by identifying which of the lines is coupled to the speaker when the speaker emits noise and silence according to the predefined pattern.

Abstract: The device comprises a microphone for detecting a speech signal from a near speaker, and a loudspeaker for reproducing a speech signal from a remote speaker. The processing for canceling the interfering acoustic echo implements an adaptive linear filtering algorithm. Double talk situations are detected by: evaluating an index representative of the convergence or divergence of the algorithm; assessing a predetermined condition for detecting a double talk situation; and if the condition is satisfied, modifying at least one parameter of the algorithm in response to the detection. The representative index may be the norm of the gradient vector describing the adaptation of the filter from one iteration of the algorithm to the next, the conditions being a comparison between the gradient and a threshold. The parameter that is modified double talk situation may be the adaptation stepsize of the algorithm, and also the gain control of an echo suppression stage.

Abstract: A consumer electronics device makes content available and include a control unit and a transmitter. The control unit is able to create a representation of a human perceptual signal and instruct the transmitter to broadcast the representation. The device is able to access new content via a receiver. The control unit uses the receiver to receive representations of multiple further human perceptual signals and generate a human perceptual signal from these multiple representations.

Abstract: Standard telephone handset ports provide a bias voltage for any attached peripheral devices. The present invention provides bi-directional control signaling where telephone sets vary the bias voltage for detection by peripheral devices and where the peripheral devices provide short, load, and no-load conditions for detection by the telephone sets using the bias voltage.

Abstract: A calibration device automatically calibrates a telephone hands free system. The device includes a signal processor that processes a received telephone signal that may be converted into audible sound through the hands free system. A first telephone and a second telephone communicate with the signal processor. The first telephone is programmed to transmit a predetermined test signal to the second telephone through a wireless or physical medium. A comparator compares the received test signal to a predetermined reference signal at a hands free interface. The comparison determines a deviation from the reference signal. An adaptor modifies the processing of the digitized aural information based on the deviation.

Abstract: An IP telephone terminal and a method for controlling IP telephone terminal capable of performing IP telephone communication upon receiving information from a conversation application through a user interface provided with a microphone and a loud speaker when a conversation is to be performed with the microphone and the laud speaker. The IP telephone terminal is connected to an internet. The terminal has a mouse and a keyboard operable as an operation input device, and a microphone and a loud speaker operable as an audio input device. A first selecting unit selects the operation input device of an interface device, and a second selecting unit selects the audio input device of the interface device. A third selecting unit selects one of the interface devices. A first control part controls the first selecting unit so that the first selecting unit selects the operation input device of the interface device selected by the third selecting unit.

  • Patent number: 7496187
Abstract: An in-bound call directed telephone station, and a method, which may be embodied in a computer readable medium, directs a telephone station based on an in-bound call. The inbound directed telephone station includes means for providing a handset having a call receiver and a call originator, means for providing a first memory location, coupled to the call receiver, and means for providing a comparator coupled to the first memory location and to the call receiver. Upon receipt of an inbound call by the call receiver and before the call receiver answers the in-bound call, the comparator compares an identifier of the in-bound call to an identifier list in the first memory location and terminates receipt of the in-bound call by the call receiver. Upon locating a match between the identifier list and the identifier of the in-bound call, the comparator automatically activates the call originator to perform a function associated with the in-bound call identifier.

  • Patent number: 7388955
Abstract: A circuit where the same amplifiers and the same volume adjustment circuitry are used for the ringer mode as well as for the audio mode of a mobile phone is achieved. The volume adjustment in the audio and ringer mode is provided by a precise amplitude setting via the gain control stages of an inverting voltage amplifier used in a bridge circuit through a current-voltage conversion. This volume adjustment circuit avoids the high power dissipation of a volume control through pulse width modulation (PWM) and avoids the risk of over-and undershooting of the amplifier's output signal due to a high slew rate in combination with the inductance of the loudspeaker. The current-voltage conversion is performed by a series of resistors activated by a series of correspondent switches. High impedance current less sense paths are eliminating the parasitic effect of the resistance of low cost standard switches to adjust the volume of the loudspeaker in the audio and the ringer mode.

  • Patent number: RE42590
Abstract: The telephone line coupler circuit has a single transmit opto-coupler whose output includes a DC bias component connected to a gate of a line seize switch for connecting a DC line seize load across the ring and tip contacts of the telephone line. The line seize switch is saturated by the transmit opto-coupler bias output and the AC component of the transmit opto-coupler output is sent over the telephone lines. The receive opto-coupler is used both for receiving communications signal and for detecting the ring signal. The band pass filter connected to the output of the receive opto-coupler may be switched to pass a ring signal frequency band or a communications frequency band. The circuit operates using two opto-coupler devices while conventional circuits require four opto-coupler devices.
