Abstract: A system and method for accessing a party with a telephone over a LAN with user verification and dialing achieved by making use of handwriting analysis. A server incorporating phone agents and user agents is linked to software for analyzing the handwriting from a touch sensitive pad. The system and method prevents unauthorized access to a dialed party and ensures user validity.
Abstract: Apparatus for a cable television subscriber to log onto a computer network with a modem over an upstream path using a USERID and password. The network validates the subscriber USERID and subscriber password with a stored database of valid USERIDs and associated passwords. After the USERID and password are validated, the modem then provides it electronic serial number to the network for validation against a stored database of authorized serial numbers. Upon additional validation of the modem's serial number, the subscriber is authorized to use the network.
Abstract: An integrated security and communications system combines a security system to either or both of a telephone system interface and a data interface. Users have access to voice-mail or other PBX-type telephone functions, many or all of which can be accessed not only at telephone sets, but also at keypads of the security system. Data functions such as electronic mail and possible partial or full World Wide Web access may also be provided at the keypads, as well as at connected personal computers or computer terminals. The system keypads may be enhanced to better accommodate some of the added functions. A central communications station could be used to maintain secure, shared private key encrypted communications with each premises system, using a redirector arrangement or relay to allow each premises system to communicate securely with a central monitoring station and with other systems. The secure communications system could be used without a security system to allow secure computer-to-computer communications.

Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a multi-function information communication apparatus which is perform data communication assuring security even in a publication telephone network requiring an SIM. For this purpose, the information communication apparatus includes a fixing unit to which a card-shaped communication device for performing data communication using a public telephone network is fixed, an operation means for executing various processes to the apparatus, a display means for displaying operation contents and an operation result obtained by the operation means, and a loading unit for inserting a card-shaped medium in which line subscriber information is stored. After data communication is performed by the card-shaped communication device fixed to the fixing unit, circuit use information is acquired, and the circuit use information is written in the card-shaped medium.
Abstract: When setting a call, a telephone number, a discrimination code for discriminating a telephone number from an identification number, and an identification number to unlock specified call restriction are continuously inputted by way of key operations in a key entry section for forming call-setting information the identification number is determined from the call-setting information in the control section; and the determined identification number is collated with an identification number previously registered, and if the two identification numbers are identical to each other, the specified call restriction is unlocked with call setting executed.
Abstract: Terminals having analog/digital telephone functions as well as data exchange functions are used by users who are of lower skill level than the average user of a personal computer. Therefore, a system comprising such a terminal should be as self-supporting and independent as possible, which can be realized by providing either at least the access provider/server provider or at least the terminal with a self-triggering mechanism for triggering said system for exchanging data via a connection between said terminal and said access means. Then the system itself can establish that for example new information has arrived or new software should be installed, and then for example make said connection and exchange the data.
Abstract: A system provides service information through a restricted broadcasting using an FM teletext multiplex broadcasting. When providing a reception authorization code that enables each receiver terminal to receive the service information, terminal unique information such as a production number is stored in a user file at the provider's end, such as an FM broadcast station. Further, a processing circuit encodes reception authorization information showing an expiration date of a reception authorization period or contract contents after appending an error detection sign using the terminal unique information, which is notified to the user via mail of the like. Upon input of the notified reception authorization code through an input device, a processing circuit at the receiver terminal's end decodes the reception authorization code using the terminal unique information stored in its memory and corrects an error.
Abstract: The present invention comprises an improved telephone system and method that reduce call interruptions to a telephone, i.e., reduce interruptions caused by a caller placing a call to the telephone. If the no-call feature is enabled and a call is received by the telephone, the telephone answers the incoming telephone call in response to receiving the telephone call. The telephone then plays a message to the caller indicating that no calls are being taken. The telephone does not generate an audible ring signal in response to the telephone call received from the caller. The telephone system further comprises an exemption logic unit for allowing calls placed by certain callers to come through even when the no-call feature is enabled. The user indicates the exception parties to the no-call feature prior to receiving a call from an external party or at a later time.
