  • Publication number: 20140270122
Abstract: The invention provides a communication protocol and serial interface having an approximately fixed interface clock and capable of accommodating a variety of communication rates. The interface employs a variable-length frame that may be expanded or reduced to obtain a desired communication rate, even though the interface clock rate is held approximately constant. The invention further provides a method for designing an agile barrier interface. In particular, the barrier clock rate is preferably selected to be an approximate common multiple of the various communication rates that the barrier interface must handle. The frame length corresponding to each communication rate may then be obtained by dividing the barrier clock rate by the ?? rate. Finally, the invention provides an agile barrier capable of communicating data across a serial interface at a variety of data rates and at an approximately fixed interface clock rate.

Abstract: A signal transmission method includes using a signal integrating device to receive a first digital signal from a network line or to transmit a second digital thereto; feeding the power transmitted from the network line into the first digital signal to form an integrated signal; using a signal converting device to restore the integrated signal back to the network line power and the first digital signal; converting a first digital signal into a first analog signal or a second analog signal received from outside into a second digital signal; and using a coiled-wire cord connecting the signal integrating device and the signal converting device to transmit the integrated signal from the signal integrating device to the signal converting device or transmit the second digital signal from the signal converting device to the signal integrating device. The invention thereby achieves transmission of digital signals by a coiled-wire cord.

Abstract: An audio communications host device has a communications network interface, digitizing circuitry, and a headphone jack. A demultiplexer has an input coupled to receive a signal from a pin of the headphone jack, and multiple outputs coupled to inputs of the digitizing circuitry, respectively. An uplink audio processor receives digitized microphone signals from multiple outputs of the digitizing circuitry, and in response delivers an uplink signal to the communications network interface. The uplink signal contains audio from one or more of the digitized microphone signals. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

Abstract: The invention provides a single digital communication link between system-side and line-side circuitry in a DAA, capable both of carrying data signals and of transferring a substantial amount of power to the line-side circuitry. The invention comprises a system-side interface circuit, a line-side interface circuit, and an isolation barrier including a transformer. Each interface circuit is capable of connection to an upstream communication circuit (either line-side or system-side), from which it may receive data signals to be transmitted across the isolation barrier to the other interface circuit, and to which it may pass data signals received across the isolation barrier from the other interface circuit. The line-side interface circuit may further include a rectifier and a storage device.

Abstract: A system and method for establishing a high speed, substantially constant circuit based data connection over a conventional telephone line is provided. The circuit based connection is non-switched, thereby eliminating the need to establish a connection through a dial-up process. The circuit based connection is established between a user's terminal device and a digitizer, such as a basic rate interface transmission exchange card. The user's terminal device may be a modified version of a conventional integrated services digital connection modem. A user's computer, telephone, or other device may be connected to the user's terminal device to access an external network. The connection established in accordance with the present invention can transmit data at a rate far exceeding that of traditional dial-up connections.

Abstract: Distortion caused by a DSL signal can be determined with the DSL signal. The DSL signal and/or the power spectral density (PSD) can be altered to suitably reduce or eliminate the distortion effects, which normally would be reduced by a POTS splitter. As a result of such adjustments to the DSL signal, the POTS band noise is suitably reduced to resolve potential adverse POTS quality issues. In addition, the DSL performance can be improved as well as the undesirable distortion is reduced. Splitterless DSL allows the DSL equipment to be connected to subscriber loops without needing a POTS splitter. This splitterless DSL configuration may be used with conversion equipment utilized to provide indirect DSL service over loaded and/or unloaded loops. In addition, the splitterless DSL configuration also will work with normal DSLAMs.

  • Patent number: 7349536
Abstract: Uninterrupted digital communications are provided between a central office and a customer premises by using a high-pass or bandpass filter to bypass local loop generation equipment. In many present-day telecommunications installations, local loop generation equipment may be placed in series with a communications path that runs between the central office and the customer premises. This communications path is adapted to convey digital signals as well as voice information and/or other types of baseband communications signals. In order to avoid interference between baseband signals and digital signals, each of these signals is allowed to occupy only a specified portion of the frequency spectrum. When activated, the local loop generation equipment breaks the entire communications path, interrupting voice signals, as well as any digital signals which may be carried thereon.
