Abstract: A continuously variable transmission includes: (a) a drive pulley and a driven pulley in which the pulley width between a fixed disk and a movable disk may be varied in accordance with oil pressure, (b) a V-belt, which is wound around the drive pulley and driven pulley, and (c) a clutch for controlling the transmission of torque from an engine to the drive pulley. The continuously variable transmission further has a first spring for constantly urging the movable disk of the drive pulley to the fixed disk side and a second spring for constantly urging the movable disk of the driven pulley to the fixed disk side.
Abstract: A laundry mangle has at least one mangling roller held in a working position inside a heatable trough by at least one carrying arm. The mangle roller and the trough are held in relative moveable positions by at least one adjusting member, delimiting together the inlet and outlet sides of a passage for laundry pieces. The adjusting member allows a force to be exerted on the mangling roller and/or trough that counteracts the frictional force generated during operation of the mangle, so that a constant or increasing ironing pressure towards the outlet side is set. The frictional force (R) generated during mangling is thus compensated, so that a gentle, wear-free mangling process is achieved. In addition, the mangling capacity is increased, compared with known mangles.

Abstract: An ironing machine for automatically ironing garments or other articles which are conveyed through the machine on hangers. The machine comprises an ironing zone to receive an article to be ironed and a heat applying means for applying heat to an article received at the ironing zone. The heat applying means is mounted on a shuttle which is movable relative to the ironing zone for traversing that zone. The heat applying means includes two opposed heat applying surfaces one disposed on each side of the ironing zone for contacting a surface of an article at the ironing zone and conforming to the surface contour thereof while traversing the ironing zone.
