  • Patent number: 5493799
Abstract: A steam press for pressing fabric is disclosed. The press includes a piston pump which draws water out of a water reservoir and forces the water into a water inlet port of the press. The pump is operated by a direct current motor which is coupled to the piston of the pump by a drive shaft. The piston is caused to slide back and forth by means of first and second relays coupled between a source of direct current and the motor. The first and second relays apply, respectively, direct voltage of a first polarity and a second reverse polarity to the motor.
