  • Patent number: 7660416
Abstract: A delivery and display system 10 prepares and delivers daily film rushes and/or film “cuts” (i.e., rough edits) in full motion video to users via the Internet in a collaborative application and display interface. The delivery and display system includes a system server 32, parsing and embedding software 34, an encryption system 36, and a collaborative display interface 70. The system server receives and stores digital media files 50 and AV log files 60. The parsing and embedding software 34 reads meta-data in an AV log file 60 and segments the digital media files 50, wherein the parsing and embedding software is capable of reading meta-data from both .FLX AV log files and .ALE AV log files. The parsing and embedding software 34 embeds meta-data from an AV log file 60 into the segmented digital media files 50. The encryption system 36 secures the digital media files 50, which have been embedded with meta-data from an AV log file 60, using digital rights management encryption.

Abstract: When a channel which is not scrambled is selected, an error occurs in a digital stream processed in a CA processing module, which causes noises to occur in video and audio signals to be viewed. If a FAT channel to be received is a channel that is not CA-scrambled, a digital stream is directly supplied from a FAT demodulator to a demultiplexer without passing the digital stream through an external processing module. As a result, no noise occurs in video and audio signals to be viewed because the video and audio signals are not influenced by an error of the digital stream that occurs in the processing module.

Error resilience scrambling is produced by shuffling transform coefficients between arrays of coefficients arranged along an axis substantially orthogonal to the axis along which packetization of the coefficients proceeds. Scrambling transform coefficients requires a reasonable level of processing resources and has minimal impact on the efficiency of the compression process. Shuffling can be performed in a number of ways to provide good access security and a variety of security. Scrambling the image data in a direction substantially orthogonal to the direction of packetization of the transform coefficients distributes any transmission error in the image reducing the effects of data error or loss on the displayed image.

Abstract: A method and apparatus of encrypting optical images using binarization or phase only information is presented with a number of ways to secure the image also being provided. An image to be encrypted is first multiplied by a random phase function. The Fourier transform of the product of the image and the random phase function is then multiplied by another random phase function in the Fourier (or Fresnel) domain. Taking the inverse Fourier (or Fresnel) transform, an encrypted image in the output plane is obtained. Alternatively, the image to be encrypted can be phase encoded and then encrypted to provide an extra level or security. The image can be secured using one key in the Fourier or Fresnel domain followed by phase extraction. This encrypted image may then binarized, which may include binarizing the phase-only part of the encrypted image. The use of binarization enables ease of implementation and data compression while still providing recovery of images having good quality.

  • Patent number: 6954532
Abstract: What is disclosed is an image path for work flow or printing in which a scanner or image editor produces a raster image. The raster image is segmented into a background plus a plurality of objects represented as foreground, mask pairs (henceforth the background or a foreground, mask pair will be referred to as a field). Each field possesses a potentially different security level. Each security level corresponds to a public encryption key used to encrypt each layer with its corresponding security level. A publicly known file storage and transmission format that supports mixed raster content is used to store or transmit the raster image. Upon retrieval or reception, a viewer enters in a private key into a user interface. The private key can only decrypt that content to which the viewer is authorized.

  • Patent number: 6948073
Abstract: Theft of decompressed digital content as the content is being rendered is prevented. A requested slow-down of the rendering of the content is detected. Transfers of relatively large amounts of data are detected. A re-compressor-based requested slow-down of the rendering of the content is detected. A re-compressor re-compressing the content is detected. In each situation, the detected activity is presumably initiated by a content thief attempting to steal the content. In each situation, the detected activity is responded to in a manner designed to frustrate the presumed attempt of the content thief to steal the content.

  • Patent number: 6735312
Abstract: A method for encrypting programming in which a controlled number of unintended recipients of a broadcast are allowed to view a program so that a set of encryption keys can be found which enables a broadcaster to more quickly broadcast the program to its intended paying recipients than conventional encryption methods which only allow programs to be viewed by its intended recipients. To find the set of keys, a broadcaster first determines an acceptable f-ratio of a total number of viewers of the broadcast program to a number of intended viewers in an identified target set who paid to receive the program. The target set of viewers is included in the total number of viewers. The broadcaster then constructs an f-redundant establishment key allocation set from which the establishment keys for encrypting the program are selected.

Abstract: Various described embodiments provide for per-pixel functionality in connection with pixel data that is processed by a video card for rendering on a display monitor. That is, pixel data that is associated with individual pixels that are to be rendered on a display monitor are imparted with a characteristic that enables various functionalities to be implemented at the pixel level. In one embodiment, per-pixel functionality is provided by including, in the pixel data itself, a specification of an auxiliary function that is to be performed on the pixel data associated with the individual pixels. For example, the security of the pixel data associated with each pixel can be enhanced by providing the ability to encrypt and decrypt the pixel data for individual pixels.
