Abstract: An image scanning system includes an image scanner and a terminal device connected with the image scanner. The terminal device accepts a password, stores an image encryption key, encrypts the image encryption key with the password, sends the encrypted image encryption key to the image scanner, receives image data encrypted from the image scanner, and decrypts the image data encrypted using one of the image encryption key and an image decryption key corresponding to the image encryption key. The image scanner receives the encrypted image encryption key from the terminal device, accepts a password, decrypts the encrypted image encryption key with the password, performs document scanning to create image data, encrypts the image data using the image encryption key decrypted, and sends the image data encrypted to the terminal device.

Abstract: Input data is converted into an image, and in the input image, an encryption region that is a region in which the image is to be encrypted. Meanwhile, on the basis of an encryption key, encryption key-related information that is information related to the encryption key is generated, and the encryption key-related information is embedded into the image in the encryption region, to generate a first intermediate image. Next, the first intermediate image is converted on the basis of the encryption key, to generate a second intermediate image. Then, the pixel values of the second intermediate image are converted so that the position of the encryption region can be specified. As a result of the conversion, an encrypted image in which the part corresponding to the encryption region in the input image is generated.

  • Patent number: 7367060
Abstract: A secure document printing system is provided. A policy server is used to define access rules for a document, and select individual users and/or groups that will have access to the document. The policy server stores the access rules along with a document decryption key. The policy server's name and address are packed in the document, and then encrypted and sent to a print server which stores it for later access. A recipient is notified that the document resides on a particular print server. The print server retrieves the specified document, contacts the policy server named in the document, and requests the document decryption key and access rules for the user, print server, and document from the policy server which replies with the related decryption key and access rules. The print server decrypts the document and prints the document based on the access rules.

Abstract: This invention intends to reduce the amount of calculation required by a cipher strength estimating device for estimating a ciphertext in collectively finding session keys for plural rounds of transformation. The cipher strength estimating device is configured to: first calculate one session key prospect presumed to be equivalent to a session key for use at a certain round of transformation in encryption which is calculated from a key; perform a decrypting operation with the session key prospect presumed to be true; calculating a session key prospect for the round immediately preceding the certain round based on the resulting text thereby calculating session keys for different rounds. This device enhances the possibility that plural true session keys are calculated faster.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for ensuring secure transfer of a document from a client of a network to a printer. That is providing a system and method enabling safe printing of a print job by securing a transmission of the print job through a network to a printer and only releasing the print job to a user designated by a client of the system and method to access the print job. Further, the present invention provides a system and method for distributing a document to a plurality of users while maintaining a secure transfer of information from the transmitting client to the plurality of users. Additionally, the present invention provides a system and method performing controlled discriminatory user access to a printer connected in a network by identifying users at the printer.

Abstract: A system and method for the secure transmission of a facsimile, which verifies that a selected user transmitted the document and only allows for the designated recipient or recipients to receive the facsimile is provided. A sending user scans a document, which is then encrypted and digitally signed using the sender's private key, which is retrieved from a central authority or server. The digitally signed document is then encrypted using the recipient's public key. The encrypted digitally signed document is then faxed to the recipient. The device receiving the facsimile transmission then notifies the designated recipient of the receipt of the encrypted fax job. The recipient then logs onto the receiving device, which retrieves the sender's public key and the recipient's private key from the server. The retrieved keys are then used to decrypt the document and verify the identities of both the sender and the user.
