Abstract: A method and apparatus for outputting a bell sound are disclosed. The method includes receiving an ambient noise; extracting a target frequency band from the ambient noise; changing volume of a pre-stored bell sound by using the target frequency band; and outputting the changed pre-stored bell sound. In the apparatus for outputting a bell sound, when a bell sound outputting apparatus receives an incoming call signal, a user may hear a bell sound including a signal in a frequency band not existing in a peripheral environment, and thus may easily recognize the bell sound.

  • Publication number: 20120008800
Abstract: A telephone user's speech volume is monitored in relation to a minimum volume sufficient for a remote conversant, with whom the user communicates, to audibly perceive the user's speech. Upon detecting that the user's volume exceeds the level sufficient to communication, it is determined whether the user moderates the volume, without being prompted, to the sufficient level. Upon determining that the user moderates the speaking voice without being prompted, positive reinforcement is provided to the user. Results are recorded over multiple phone calls. A frequency of the user moderating the speaking volume without being prompted is tracked from the recorded results. Upon the frequency of the user moderating the volume without being prompted rising over the tracked phone calls, the quality and/or quantity of the positive reinforcement may be improved. The user is thus trained or treated, e.g., audiologically or therapeutically, to self-modulate the volume.

Abstract: An audio input signal is processed to produce a processed audio output signal. An audio input signal is received as an original signal. The audio input signal is dynamically filtered to produce a first stage signal consisting of a selected frequency band of the input signal. Gain applied to the first stage signal is dynamically controlled in response to a control signal to produce a second stage signal. The control signal is derived from the first stage signal. Processing the original signal in combination with the second stage signal to produce a processed audio output signal. Abstract: A motion picture soundtrack reproduction system has a center front soundtrack channel and a plurality of other soundtrack channels. A volume control adjusts the gain of all the channels. The volume control has a range of settings from a minimum to a maximum, the gain of the center front channel having substantially a first relationship to the volume control settings and the gain of the other channels having substantially a second relationship to the volume control settings, the relationships being such that for a range of volume control settings less than a first setting the gain of the center front channel remains substantially constant while the gain of the other channels decreases as the setting decreases or decreases more gradually than the gain of the other channels as the setting decreases.
