Specified Casing Or Housing Patents (Class 381/322)
  • Patent number: 11504533
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to compact hearing aids, components thereof, and support systems therefor, as well as methods of insertion and removal thereof. The compact hearing aids generally include a sensor, such as a microphone, an actuation mass, an energy source for providing power to the compact hearing aid, a processor, and an actuator enclosed in a housing that is designed to be inserted through the tympanic membrane during a minimally-invasive outpatient procedure. In operation, the microphone receives sound waves and converts the sound waves into electrical signals. A processor then modifies the electrical signals and provides the electrical signals to the actuator. The actuator converts the electrical signals into mechanical motion, which actuates the actuation mass to modulate the velocity or the position of the tympanic membrane.

Abstract: A method for controlling a controllable acoustic valve of a hearing device. The valve includes a moveable valve element adapted to be positioned in one of at least two essentially stable states. The moveable valve element is configured to be maintained in each of the essentially stable states by a retention force. A neutral point with essentially cancelling retention forces exists between the least two essentially stable states. The method includes providing a first drive signal to the controllable acoustic valve to overcome a retention force of a first essentially stable state in order to initiate movement of the moveable valve element from the first essentially stable state to a second essentially stable state. The provided first drive signal is capable of bringing the moveable valve element from the first essentially stable state and beyond a neutral point between the first and second essentially stable states.

Abstract: A method adapts a hearing device. The hearing apparatus has a signal processing unit for processing an electrical input signal into an electrical output signal and a receiver for outputting an acoustic output signal based on the electrical output signal. Furthermore, the hearing apparatus has an individual sound transmission element with a frequency-dependent individual amplification profile for transmitting the acoustic output signal. The individual amplification profile is determined on the basis of a reference transfer function. The measured individual amplification profile is subsequently compared with a reference amplification profile of a reference sound transmission element, and the reference transfer function is adapted based on a difference between the individual amplification profile and the reference amplification profile.
