  • Patent number: 10645484
Abstract: A loudspeaker cabinet comprised of interlocking panels which may be assembled using external compressive forces and internal tensile forces is described. The panels may include corresponding tongue and groove elements that aid in the interconnection of the panels, and which may be at least partially swaged together. Internal tension members, such as tension rods, may run the length of the cabinet, up and down, and front to back, to keep panels of the cabinet under constant tension. An example cabinet body having six sides that sits above an integrated foot or shelf is constructed out of three interlocking panels. The present system and method may be used to create an inherently rigid cabinet that minimizes the movability of its constituent parts to avoid parasitic vibrations that interfere with the original sound waves emanating from the membrane of the driver of the loudspeaker.

The ribs extend at an angle of from approximately 5 to 35 degrees to the longitudinal axis of the panel. The angle is acoustically matched to the complex speaker edge to improve the accuracy with which said acoustic vibration is reproduced. The effectiveness of the differential damping capacity of the edge in improving the quality of sound output from a speaker assembly is determined by observing the average magnitude of the excursions of the sound level pressure versus frequency curves for comparable complex and single speaker edges, particularly in the 200 to 10,000 Hertz range.

Abstract: A speaker support system, adapted to prevent destructive resonance between a speaker and a speaker cabinet, comprising a vibration damper, a vibration transferer, and a connector. The speaker support prevents primary-mode resonance from building up to damaging levels in a speaker cabinet. The vibration damper damps sound vibrations that are passing from a speaker into a speaker cabinet. The vibration damper is tuned to not resonate at any resonant frequency of the speaker cabinet. The vibration transferer transfers sound vibrations from the vibration damper to a vibration sink, which is preferably a portion of the speaker cabinet that is remote from the vibration damper. Preferably, the vibration transferer comprises a metal rod. The connector fixedly connects the vibration transferer to the vibration sink. The vibration transferer is tuned to not resonate at any resonant frequency of the speaker cabinet.

Abstract: A speaker system is provided, including a suspension element having an outer edge and an inner edge. The suspension element, such as a spider or surround, varies in shape along at least a portion of the suspension element to help relieve both the radial and tangential stress placed on the suspension element when it is stretched. The shape employed in the suspension element allows the suspension element to stretch more easily, creating a higher performance speaker of the same size by increasing the diaphragm excursion and voice coil movement.

Abstract: A speaker includes: a speaker unit; a baffle fitted with the speaker unit; a cabinet fixed to the baffle, the cabinet covering a back of the speaker unit; a plurality of mounting bosses projected from at least one of the baffle and the cabinet; and a packing having elongated mounting holes, the packing located at an abutting part between the baffle and the cabinet, the packing sealing the abutting part. The abutting part includes a plurality of similar sealing areas, which are substantially common in size and shape as a whole except that at least one projecting position of the mounting boss is slightly shifted. The elongated mounting holes of the packing is used for the similar sealing areas. The elongated mounting holes of the packing correspond to the at least one projecting position of the mounting boss and compensate a position shift between the similar sealing areas.

The wireless headset is reduced in size to earpiece, in which the comfort and sanitation of the user and the life span of the device may in increased by providing a replaceable compliant polymer sheath for the sound tube which is inserted into the ear canal. In alternative embodiments, the sheath and ear canal may mechanically cooperate to retain the wireless headset in the ear canal. The sheath may be easily removed and replaced so as to adapt the length and diameter of the device for the needs and comfort of different users, allow safe and sanitary use of one wireless device by more than one user, and allow for easy repairs and refurbishments.
