Patent number: 10645484Abstract: A loudspeaker cabinet comprised of interlocking panels which may be assembled using external compressive forces and internal tensile forces is described. The panels may include corresponding tongue and groove elements that aid in the interconnection of the panels, and which may be at least partially swaged together. Internal tension members, such as tension rods, may run the length of the cabinet, up and down, and front to back, to keep panels of the cabinet under constant tension. An example cabinet body having six sides that sits above an integrated foot or shelf is constructed out of three interlocking panels. The present system and method may be used to create an inherently rigid cabinet that minimizes the movability of its constituent parts to avoid parasitic vibrations that interfere with the original sound waves emanating from the membrane of the driver of the loudspeaker.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 2017Date of Patent: May 5, 2020Inventors: Tadeusz Kwolek, Robert Kwolek

Patent number: 7239715Abstract: A speaker apparatus to be mounted on a vehicle includes a speaker unit and a mounting device. The speaker unit has a frame. The mounting device mounts the frame of the speaker unit on a panel member of a vehicle body. The mounting device includes insulators, which prevent vibration, which is caused by operation of the speaker unit in any direction, from being transmitted to the panel member in any direction.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2004Date of Patent: July 3, 2007Assignees: Pioneer Corporation, Tohoku Pioneer CorporationInventors: Koji Maekawa, Tetsuya Onuma, Takeshi Ito

Patent number: 7221772Abstract: An electronic device has a loudspeaker unit and a casing with a support, which receives the loudspeaker unit, and with a wall perpendicular to the mounting direction of the loudspeaker unit in the support. A vibration absorbing body forms a spacer between the loudspeaker unit and the support. An abutment protruding from the wall in the mounting direction contacts the vibration absorbing body.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2002Date of Patent: May 22, 2007Assignee: Thomson LicensingInventors: Michel Evenisse, Patrice Fremanteau, Cornelius Sperle

Patent number: 7218748Abstract: A speaker driver surround has tapered thickness to provide improved linearity of the force versus displacement response. The tapered thickness surround provides for a larger emissive piston area, thus increasing the acoustic efficiency of the transducer. The surround has an integral gasket with a groove to accept grill to cover the speaker cone.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 2004Date of Patent: May 15, 2007Assignee: TC Sounds Inc.Inventor: Thilo Stompler

Patent number: 7212646Abstract: The present invention is a wireless headset having a removable compliant polymer sheath that is retained in the ear of a user via friction. The wireless headset is reduced in size to earpiece, in which the comfort and sanitation of the user and the life span of the device may in increased by providing a replaceable compliant polymer sheath for the sound tube which is inserted into the ear canal. In alternative embodiments, the sheath and ear canal may mechanically cooperate to retain the wireless headset in the ear canal. The sheath may be easily removed and replaced so as to adapt the length and diameter of the device for the needs and comfort of different users, allow safe and sanitary use of one wireless device by more than one user, and allow for easy repairs and refurbishments.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 2005Date of Patent: May 1, 2007Inventor: Shary Nassimi

Patent number: 7206422Abstract: An assembly (100) for acoustic sealing of a transducer (104) in a communication device is provided. The assembly (100) allows for assembly along one axis (112) and acoustical sealing along another axis (115). The assembly (100) allows for another transducer (106) to be acoustically sealed on a different plane than that of the first transducer (104). Through the use of a compliant member (204) and rigid member (108) coupled to the transducer (104) a floating seal is formed between the chassis (102) and the housing (103) of the communication device (100).Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2003Date of Patent: April 17, 2007Assignee: Motorola, Inc.Inventors: Jody H. Patent number: 7206428Abstract: The present invention is a receiver that includes electronics for converting an input audio signal to an output acoustic signal. The receiver has a housing for containing at least a portion of the electronics. The housing includes a port for broadcasting the output acoustic signal. A suspension system is coupled to the housing for dampening vibrations of the housing. In one preferred embodiment, the suspension system includes three resilient contact structures for contacting a surrounding structure in which the receiver is placed. The contact structures are positioned at specific locations to provide variable dampening levels. In another embodiment, the dampening is provided by a low-viscosity, gel-like material positioned between the housing and the surrounding structure.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 2006Date of Patent: April 17, 2007Assignee: Sonion Nederland B.V.Inventors: Onno Geschiere, Jan Hijman, Jeroen P. Patent number: 7181035Abstract: An acoustic receiver comprises means for converting an input audio signal into an acoustic signal. The receiver has a housing having a plurality of sides that surround the converting means. One of the sides include an output port for broadcasting the acoustic signal. A jacket fits around the housing and has sections for engaging the sides. The sections are generally flat. The jacket may also form a gap with a corresponding side surface of the housing. A printed circuit board can be located within the gap. The printed circuit board including electronics for processing said input audio signal.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2001Date of Patent: February 20, 2007Assignee: Sonion Nederland B.V.Inventors: Aart Zeger van Halteren, Paul Christiaan van Hal
