Abstract: System-initiated help is provided for operating an apparatus associated with a vehicle, in which alphanumeric characters and/or symbols can be selected using an operating device and can be assembled to form a character or function group and can be displayed in an input field on a first display device. A detection operation is carried out, on the basis of which it is detected whether the user inputs or must input a space in a next operating step with a predefinable degree of probability. If the detection operation has a positive result, assistance is displayed to the user on the first or second display device and/or is output to the user using the loudspeaker device. The assistance has an item of help information relating to how a space can be input in the apparatus using an operating action.

  • Patent number: 10152585
Abstract: The invention relates to a system and method of automatically distinguishing between computers and human based on responses to enhanced Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart (“e-captcha”) challenges that do not merely challenge the user to recognize skewed or stylized text. A given e-captcha challenge may be specific to a particular knowledge domain. Accordingly, e-captchas may be used not only to distinguish between computers and humans, but also determine whether a respondent has demonstrated knowledge in the particular knowledge domain. For instance, participants in crowd-sourced tasks, in which unmanaged crowds are asked to perform tasks, may be screened using an e-captcha challenge. This not only validates that a participant is a human (and not a bot, for example, attempting to game the crowd-source task), but also screens the participant based on whether they can successfully respond to the e-captcha challenge.

  • Patent number: 10068132
Abstract: Vehicles and other items often have corresponding documentation, such as registration cards, that includes a significant amount of informative textual information that can be used in identifying the item. Traditional OCR may be unsuccessful when dealing with non-cooperative images. Accordingly, features such as dewarping, text alignment, and line identification and removal may aid in OCR of non-cooperative images. Dewarping involves determining curvature of a document depicted in an image and processing the image to dewarp the image of the document to make it more accurately conform to the ideal of a cooperative image. Text alignment involves determining an actual alignment of depicted text, even when the depicted text is not aligned with depicted visual cues. Line identification and removal involves identifying portions of the image that depict lines and removing those lines prior to OCR processing of the image.

Abstract: According to an embodiment, a moving image recognition apparatus includes a moving object detection unit, a data code reading unit, a label recognition unit, an association unit, and an output unit. The moving object detection unit detects moving objects from a moving image stored in a buffer unit and identifies each of the moving objects. The data code reading unit detects a data code from each frame of the moving image and decodes the detected data code. The label recognition unit detects and recognizes a label from each frame of the moving image. When the recognized label and the decoded data code exist on the same object, the association unit associates them. The output unit outputs together the decoding result of the data code and the recognition result of the label associated with the decoding result.

Abstract: An approach is provided in which a knowledge manager selects an extraction layer from a convolutional neural network that was trained on an initial set of images. The knowledge manager processes subsequent images obtained from crawling a computer network that includes extracting image feature sets of the subsequent images from the selected extraction layer and generating tags from metadata associated with the subsequent images. In turn, the knowledge manager receives a new image, extracts a new image feature set from the selected extraction layer, and assigns one or more of the tags to the new image based upon evaluating the new image feature set to the image features sets of the subsequent images.

Abstract: An intelligent system detects triangles in digital photographic images, including portrait photography. The method extracts a set of filtered line segments as candidate triangle sides and/or objects as candidate triangle vertices. A modified RANSAC algorithm is utilized to fit triangles onto the set of line segments and/or vertices. Two metrics may then be used evaluate the fitted triangles. Those with high fitting scores are considered as detected triangles. The system can accurately locate preeminent triangles in photographs without any knowledge about the camera parameters or lens choices. The invention can also help amateurs gain a deeper understanding and inspirations from professional photographic works.
