Abstract: A system and method of generating a virtual image and displaying the virtual image so that the image appears to be anchored to a real world object. A data frame of spatial data obtained by one or more sensors is analyzed to determine whether one or more real-world objects to be detected is located in the data frame. If one of the real-world objects is in the data frame, the coordinates of a real-world reference point associated with the real-world object are determined. A virtual 3D space is generated and a base plane is constructed passing through a virtual object reference point in the virtual space. One or more planar content elements are placed on or parallel to the base plane. An image is formed in which the content elements appear to lie in a plane passing through the real-world reference point of the detected object.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques that provide a “best” picture taken within a few seconds of the moment when a capture command is received (e.g., when the “shutter” button is pressed). In some situations, several still images are automatically (that is, without the user's input) captured. These images are compared to find a “best” image that is presented to the photographer for consideration. Video is also captured automatically and analyzed to see if there is an action scene or other motion content around the time of the capture command. If the analysis reveals anything interesting, then the video clip is presented to the photographer. The video clip may be cropped to match the still-capture scene and to remove transitory parts. Higher-precision horizon detection may be provided based on motion analysis and on pixel-data analysis.

Abstract: The present disclosure can obtain a high-quality composite image by determining a suitable boundary when input images are sequentially stitched together to generate the composite image. An image generating apparatus 1 generates a composite image by stitching sequentially input images together. A difference value calculating section 15 calculates difference values by using the pixel values of a reference image and the pixel values of a target image that partly overlap the reference image. The difference values represent the relative relationship between the reference image and the target image. A boundary determining section 16 determines a boundary for stitching the reference image and the target image together by using the difference values calculated by the difference value calculating section 15. Then, an image compositing section 18 generates the composite image by stitching the reference image and the target image together based on the boundary determined by the boundary determining section 16.

Abstract: The present technique relates to an image processing device, an image processing method, and a program for obtaining a high-quality panoramic image when a 360-degree panoramic image is generated. A projected image generation unit generates projected images by mapping, on a cylindrical surface, captured images taken by a camera being rotated 360 degrees. Finally, a combined image is generated by combining the captured image and the retrieved digital version of the content displayed on the presentation surface.

  • Patent number: 9576403
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for improving a main image by fusing the richer information contained in a secondary image are described. A 3D structure of objects contained in the secondary image is retrieved and a parallax-corrected version of the secondary image is generated using the 3D structure. For this purpose a camera pose for which a projection of the 3D structure of the objects contained in the secondary image best resembles the perspective in the main image is determined and the parallax-corrected version of the secondary image is synthesized based on the determined camera pose. The parallax-corrected version of the secondary image is then fused with the main image.

  • Patent number: 9571727

  • Patent number: 9532754
Abstract: A marker-coordinate detecting unit detects coordinates of a stent marker on a new image when the new image is stored in an image-data storage unit; and then a correction-image creating unit creates a correction image from the new image through, for example, image transformation processing, so as to match up the detected coordinates with reference coordinates that are coordinates of the stent marker already detected by the marker-coordinate detecting unit in a first frame. An image post-processing unit then creates an image for display by performing post-processing on the correction image created by the correction-image creating unit, the post-processing including high-frequency noise reduction filtering-processing, low-frequency component removal filtering-processing, and logarithmic-image creating processing; and then a system control unit performs control of displaying a moving image of an enlarged image of a set region that is set in the image for display, together with an original image.

  • Patent number: 9516223
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer readable media for stitching or aligning multiple images (or portions of images) to generate a panoramic image are described. In general, techniques are disclosed for using motion data (captured at substantially the same time as image data) to align images rather than performing image analysis and/or registration operations. More particularly, motion data may be used to identify the rotational change between successive images. The identified rotational change, in turn, may be used to calculate a motion vector that describes the change in position between a point in a first image and a corresponding point in a subsequent image. The motion vector may be utilized to align successive images in an image sequence based on the motion data associated with the images.

Abstract: A matting method and apparatus for extracting a foreground object are disclosed. The matting method includes extracting one or more pixels from an input image and a trimap; calculating a first processing cost by extracting one or more nonlocal neighboring pixels; calculating a second processing cost by extracting one or more local neighboring pixels; and performing matting on the input image by estimating an opacity value for each of the extracted pixels based on the first and second processing costs. Accordingly, it is possible to perform high-quality image matting, and thus increase a performance in extracting a to foreground object from the input image, so that the matting method and apparatus can be applied to multiple-purpose image editing software.
