  • Patent number: 10555715
Abstract: An apparatus and method for imaging quality assessment of an imaging system employs an aggregate phantom and a processor for imaging analysis. The aggregate phantom includes a plurality of self-contained sections configured to be moved independently and re-assembled in the imaging system. Each section includes fiducial features of known relative location. The processor: quantitatively determines location of the fiducial features within an image of the aggregate phantom; compares the determined location within the image to the known relative location of the fiducial features to produce a distortion field; and distinguishes between actual geometric distortion of the imaging system and rigid-body transformations of sections of the aggregate phantom, in the distortion field. For extended fields-of-view, the aggregate phantom may be repositioned, and sets of images combined to determine a distortion field of the extended image.

Abstract: Rooms, structures, vehicles, and other objects can be accurately diagrammed, often without performing a physical on-site inspection. Photographs of a room, structure, vehicle, or other object are uploaded to a computer having a processor. A base calibration measure is determined for a room, structure, vehicle, object, or component thereof, depicted in the photographs using at least one known dimension for items observable in the photographs. The base calibration measure is then used to determine dimensions of other areas, items, or objects depicted in such photographs, and to create at least one scale diagram of the subject matter of the photographs. Damages areas of the structure/vehicle/object can be assessed from the scale diagram. The scale diagram can then be used to calculate appropriate insurance payment amounts for damage claims.

  • Patent number: 8565511
Abstract: Disclosed is an alignment system comprising: an upper reflector to couple to an end effecter and a camera kit to couple to a fixture. The camera kit includes: a plurality of light sources; a camera; and a lower reflector including a camera opening and a plurality of light source openings. The lower reflector may be approximately parallel to the fixture. The camera may be positioned beneath the camera opening and may capture light images reflected from both the lower reflector and the upper reflector from the plurality of light sources. An image processor is coupled to the camera, wherein image data associated with the captured light images is transmitted from the camera to the image processor. The image processor is used to determine an adjustment value based upon the image data to tilt the end effecter such that the end effecter is moved to be approximately parallel to the fixture.

Abstract: An image transfer assembly and method capable of adjusting the registration of an image printed on paper. A first image location being determined on at least one first sheet by measuring for each of at least three corners of a first sheet the distance between the two adjoining edges of the respective corners to a portion of at least one first fiducial mark. For each of the measured first sheet corners the measured portion of the at least one first fiducial mark is closer to that respective corner than any other of the first sheet corners. Then a second image to be transferred is adjusted by changing, relative to at least one second sheet, at least one of a size, shear, position and orientation of the second image based on the determined first image location. The adjusted second image being then printed on the second sheet(s).

Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes: a division section for dividing input image data into portions; an orientation determining section for calculating reliabilities of directions of image data of each portion when the directions are regarded as orientations, and setting an orientation with the highest reliability as an orientation of each portion; a display control section for generating display image data including an image of a target portion whose reliability of an orientation is less than a predetermined value and images of designation regions from which a user's input to designate the orientation of the target portion is entered; and a character recognition section for recognizing characters of each portion in such a manner that the orientation is designated from the designation regions or set by the orientation determining section. This allows prompt recognition of characters of a portion whose reliability of orientation is low, in accordance with a right orientation.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses, including computer program products, are provided for re-layout of composite images. In some implementations, a method includes identifying geometric transformations corresponding to multiple images from a collection of images, where a geometric transformation reorients a corresponding image in relation to a common reference frame when applied and identifying a reference image for the multiple images in the collection of images. The method also includes determining overlapping image regions for the multiple images starting from the reference image, the determining based on the identified geometric transformations, determining additional transformations of a specified type for the multiple images based on the overlapping image regions, where an additional transformation lays out a corresponding image in relation to the reference image when applied, and making the additional transformations available for further processing and output with respect to the collection of images.

  • Patent number: 8487994
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for determining the annual ring center of a wood block are disclosed. A plurality of lines of path is figured out and generated. Each line of path is composed of a plurality of lines each extending normal to a line that is tangential to an annual ring in an image of the wood block end. The normal line may be figured out, for example, by calculating the variance of values of pixels lying on each of a plurality of straight lines of a filter and the sum of the variances for the plurality of straight lines at a plurality of different angular positions of the filter. The annual ring center in the image of the wood block end is determined through calculation based on the points of intersection of the generated lines of path.

  • Patent number: 8447097
Abstract: When computation of a three-dimensional measurement processing parameter is completed, accuracy of a computed parameter can easily be confirmed. After a parameter for three-dimensional measurement is computed through calibration processing using a calibration workpiece in which plural feature points whose positional relationship is well known can be extracted from an image produced by imaging, three-dimensional coordinate computing processing is performed using the computed parameter for the plural feature points included in the stereo image used to compute the parameter. Perspective transformation of each computed three-dimensional coordinate is performed to produce a projection image in which each post-perspective-transformation three-dimensional coordinate is expressed by a predetermined pattern, and the projection image is displayed on a monitor device.

Abstract: A method (100), an apparatus (1100), and a computer program product are disclosed for generating alignment marks. A basis pattern (120) and a high frequency component (130) are combined (140). The basis pattern is defined such that a scaled and rotated version of the basis pattern correlated with the basis pattern is substantially equal to the auto-correlation of the basis pattern within a complex multiplicative constant. The high frequency component is of sufficient energy for cross correlation without detriment to the basis pattern. The basis pattern may be generated from a basis function, which may be a logarithmic radial harmonic function (LRHF). The combination is output as at least one alignment mark having an increased maximum frequency. The method (100) may further comprise printing the at least one alignment mark on a print medium.
