Abstract: The present invention is directed to a peel-open, non-reclosable package formed from a single thermoplastic laminate comprising a first film laminated to a second film by a lamination film or lamination layer. The package includes a peelable heat-seal seam adhering an interior surface of a first sealing section of the interior package surface to an interior surface of a second sealing section of the interior package surface. The package also includes an asymmetric cross-sectional seal interface formed at the peelable heat-seal seam by disjoining a segment of the first film from the first sealing section prior to heat sealing the first and second sealing sections together.

Abstract: A convertible bag is provided. It may include a bag front, a bag back, a drawstring retention compartment, and at least one drawstring. The bag front may include a front perforation, a front part of the drawstring retention compartment, and a mailer front top with a top flap. The bag back may include a mailer back top, a back perforation, and a back part of the drawstring retention compartment. The convertible bag may be configured for converted from a packaging mailer configuration to a drawstring bag configuration. In the packaging mailer configuration, the top flap of the mailer front top may be folded over and secured to the mailer back top to close the convertible bag. In the drawstring bag configuration, the convertible bag may be configured to be cinched closed by pulling a portion of the at least one drawstring out of the drawstring retention compartment.

Abstract: Resealable packages having a pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) layer that is fully integrated into the packaging film and a removable portion easily accessed by a peel tab at the edge of the package, adjacent to a score. Removal of a portion of the package exposes the pressure sensitive adhesive layer and allows for access to the product in the package interior. The package is easily resealed by folding the exposed pressure sensitive adhesive layer to adhere to the outer surface of the package.

Abstract: A heat-shrinkable packaging article has one or more tear initiators for initiating a manual tear that can be propagated to open a package and allow a product to be readily removed therefrom, without the use of a knife or scissors or any other implement. The tear initiators are present in a skirt and/or header of the article. The skirt and/or header has a first side and a second side. In one embodiment, some or all of the first side of the skirt and/or header can be heatset in order to reduce the shrink and curling of the skirt and/or header. This improves identification and utilization of the tear initiators by a consumer upon shrinking the packaging article around the product. In another embodiment, the skirt and/or header has a plurality of pairs of tear initiators to allow portions of the package to be torn off to expose a portion of the product that can then be sliced off while the remainder of the packaged product remains covered by a remainder of the film.

Abstract: A bag 1 with a reclosable tape includes a reclosable tape 20 having a male fastener part 21 and a female fastener part 22 attached to one inner surface of a bag body 10, a cut tape 23 provided between mounting base parts 212 and 222 of those fastener parts, and an easily unsealable structure 50 formed on the mounting base part 212 adjacent to the cut tape 23 in an unsealing start part 30 of a side seal part 60 of the bag body. The wrapping has two elongate edges sealed to one another in a fin area extending along the length of the chewing gum piece and two sealed end areas extending beyond the ends of the chewing gum piece.

Abstract: A connecting portion is provided between a first thick portion and a second thick portion in a cutting portion. Further, a thinnest portion on which a stress can be concentrated is provided to the connecting portion. Accordingly, when tearing a base material film of a bag body, the connecting portion can guide a cutting line toward the thinnest portion to position the cutting line in the thinnest portion, so that the bag body can be easily opened.

In a bag body comprising a bag made of two plastic films, both ends of which are welded, and having plastic zipper with a slider at an opened portion of the bag, a cover film rides astride and covers top portions of the plastic slider, under a condition wherein the plastic zipper is closed, and of the plastic zipper, except for a welded portion located opposite to the slider of the bag body, at least one lower end of the cover film extending for full width of the bag body, and the plastic film, the lower ends of the cover film and the flange portions are welded together.

The hanging milk storage bag includes semi-circular perforations or other lines of weakness for creating an aperture to receive the breast milk pump. The hanging milk storage bag further includes upper linear perforations or other lines of weakness for creating an opening at the top of the hanging milk storage bag for pouring the contents into a subsequent receptacle. The hanging milk storage bag further includes a leak-resistant zipper for forming a storage volume.

Abstract: A reclosable bag or pouch configured to store, and to easily pour, material. The reclosable bag is configured with an integral pour spout having a reclosable fastener to facilitate the pouring of material from the bag, and subsequent resealing. By locating the pour spout along an upper side of the bag, material is focused downward from the bag, and not outward, when poured. Bags configured in this manner thus provide end users with enhanced control over the dispensing rate and direction of their contents. In some embodiments, the bag is also configured as a self-supporting bag capable of resting generally upright upon its bottom end.

Abstract: A reclosable package formed from a sheet having a layered structure formed on a first region of the outer surface proximate a top edge thereof, formed by a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) and a sealant coating covering the PSA. The sheet is folded about transverse fold lines and side seals are formed along the two side edges of the sheet, and a flap portion of the sheet overlaps the layered structure. Permanent seals are formed between the sealant coating of the layered structure and the flap portion. The first permanent seal has a higher bond strength than that between the sealant coating and the PSA.

Abstract: A catheter product package and method of forming same in which the package comprises a sheet material wrapped about the catheter product to form a package for the catheter product. The catheter product extends generally longitudinally within the package, and the sheet material extends from a point beyond the proximal end to a point beyond the distal end of the catheter product. The sheet material of the package is wrapped about the catheter product in a mariner defining confronting proximal end edges, confronting distal end edges, and confronting side edges. The confronting proximal end edges, distal end edges and side edges of the sheet material are joined by a seal after the sheet material is wrapped about the catheter product to define a sealed cavity. The sheet material has a tear strip affixed to it which causes the sheet material to tear along the tear strip to thereby cause the package to open along an intended opening line.

Abstract: A flexible shipping bag may be turned inside out to make a stylish cosmetic bag. Sealing flaps permit closing the flexible shipping bag. Sealing-flap top segments may be cut-off to open the flexible shipping bag and these fold into the flexible shipping bag when the flexible shipping bag is turned inside out. Cosmetic flaps are attached inside the flexible shipping bag below the sealing flaps. These invert and become visible when the flexible shipping bag is turned inside out. A zipper to close the cosmetic bag is attached to top edges of cosmetic flaps below the point where the top segment is cut off. Once the flexible shipping bag is turned inside out, the zipper is positioned below the top edge of, and inside, the cosmetic bag and the cosmetic-flap bottom edge is positioned at the top of the cosmetic bag to provide a finished edge.

Abstract: A reclosable, multi-compartment package for storing foodstuff separately in at least two compartments which are combined upon opening is disclosed, and methods of use and manufacture thereof. The package also provides for mixing of the separated foodstuff upon opening of the package just prior to use. The opening of the package further includes a reclosable structure. Upon opening the package, the frangible seals are separated thus combining the at least two compartments into one compartment.

Abstract: A package including a package body having closed ends, at least one of the closed ends being openable. A reclosable member including a band disposed on the package body, the band being adjacent to and encircling the openable closed end. The reclosable member maintains the at least one of the openable end in a closed condition after opening thereof. The openable end is selectively and repeatedly openable and reclosable upon manipulation of the package body.

Abstract: A closure strip for a bag. Two supporting webs are provided, on their internal surfaces facing each other and at a distance from their longitudinal edges, with at least one longitudinal closure assembly. Each web has an upper portion, extending longitudinally in an upper portion thereof, and a lower portion, extending longitudinally in a lower portion of these. At least one of the webs includes internal faces which correspond to the faces of the upper and lower portions made in materials having different melting temperatures. The melting temperature of the material of the upper portion is less than the melting temperature of the material of the lower portion. The closure strip also includes a line of weakening which extends longitudinally in an intermediate area of each web. The intermediate areas are made of a third material having a lower tensile strength than the upper and lower portions.

Abstract: A side-gusseted bag has two front walls which are joined by a side gusset at a longitudinal side provided with a reclosure. The side gusset is folded-over outwards in the region of the reclosure in such a manner that the side gusset ends at its folded-over section at the associated longitudinal side. The reclosure running in the longitudinal direction is fastened to an inner surface of the side gusset at the folded-over section. A method for manufacturing a side-gusseted bag is also provided.

Abstract: A reclosable bag is disclosed which includes a reclosable zipper with interlocking profiles and a slider. The interlocking profiles include flanges which include arcuate cut-outs at the ends thereof. The width of the flanges is thereby reduced at the distal ends thereof. This allows the flanges to be sealed to the front and rear panels of the reclosable bag without being sealed within the side seals of the reclosable bag. In order to maintain the integrity of the bag, the flanges are sealed to each other immediately inwardly adjacent from the arcuate cut-outs, and the seal lines between the flanges and the front and rear panels are extended so that the front and rear panels are sealed to each other in an area bounded by the arcuate cut-outs and the side seals.

Abstract: A sealable plastic bag has a first panel and a second panel. The first panel and second panel are joined along three edges to define a bag interior and an opening to permit access to the bag interior. A permanent sealing structure is configured to permanently seal the first and second panels to close the opening and prevent access to the bag interior. A release liner strip overlies the permanent sealing structure to prevent the permanent sealing structure from sealing the first and second panels until activation by a user. A resealable sealing structure is configured to repeatedly and nondestructively seal the first and second panels to close the opening and prevent access to the bag interior.

Abstract: A specimen collection bag includes a flexible bag with a bottom end and a mouth end. A sleeve extends around at least a portion of a perimeter of the mouth end. The sleeve is adapted to receive the jaws of a grasping tool that are movable between a closed position and an open position. Opening the jaws causes the mouth end of the specimen collection bag to open and closing the jaws causes the mouth end of the specimen collection bag to close.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a front sheet for packaging, the front sheet comprising a laminate of an inner layer and an outer layer relative to the interior of the packaging. The inner layer incorporates a removable strip having longitudinal edges abutting adjacent panels of the inner layer. Removal of the removable strip forms an opening through the inner and outer layers of the front sheet. An overlay sheet overlays and is substantially in contact with the removable strip. An improved product can thereby be produced. The invention also relates to containers and bags formed using a front sheet as described, and methods of manufacturing and filling and sealing such containers and bags.

Abstract: An automatic liquid stop bag with a bending portion comprises: two outer films, two inner films, a storage area, a discharge channel, a bent portion, an inlet, an outlet and a tear portion. The storage area is formed by coupling the two outer films by hot sealing. The two inner films are disposed between the two outer films and coupled the two inner films by heat sealing to form a discharge channel or the discharge channel is coupled to the two inner films by heat sealing and formed between the two inner films, and the internal sides of the two inner films are not coupled to form the inlet and outlet, and the tear portion is formed at an edge of the two inner films and the two outer films and separated from the two inner films to expose the outlet of the discharge channel.

Abstract: A belt-shaped base of a female member of a zipper tape attached to an inner surface of a bag body has a wide portion that extends wider toward an opening of the bag body than a belt-shaped base of the male member. An open tape is disposed on the wide portion and a seal layer is laminated on a surface of the open tape. A first projecting portion is also provided on the wide portion. A second projecting portion is provided on an opening-side end of the belt-shaped base. The projecting portions have a substantially trapezoidal cross section. When the zipper tape is bonded to the bag body and is sealed by the seal layer, a gap is provided between the open tape and the first and the second projecting portions.

Abstract: A film bag formed by folding a film has a front surface, a back surface, a laid-in first side fold, and a laid-in second side fold. The bag is closed off by a longitudinal sealing seam and a head sealing seam. The head sealing seam has a step shape, with a first head sealing seam segment extending from the outside edge of the second side fold to the ends of the re-closure strip attached to the inside of the front and back surfaces, and a second head sealing seam segment that follows the first in step shape and connects a bag segment that projects upward, at the edges, forming a seal, and extends to the outside edge of the bag, along the first side fold. The projecting bag segment can be removed entirely or in part, along a separating line disposed above the re-closure strip.

A spout is formed in the sealed perimeter when the package is open along at least a portion of the upper seal. A first recess is along the second side seal; and a second recess is along the upper seal opposite the discharge channel from the first recess. The first recess can engage the second recess such that a fold line is formed that intersects the discharge channel to close the discharge channel.

Abstract: Two side cut reseal with pressure sensitive adhesive. A flexible package having a reseal integrated within the opposite layers of its film is constructed using existing vertical form fill and seal packaging machines. The invention involves a single sheet of flexible packaging film web having at least three layers. In a preferred embodiment, the reseal is comprised of two offsetting score lines on interior and exterior sides of the film and spaced apart by 0.5 to 1 inch. The scoring creates lines of weakness, which define an opening in the package. Upon opening, a pressure sensitive adhesive layer, which is pattern applied in between the offsetting score lines, is exposed from an interior side of the film. The adhesive releasably adheres the inner and outer layers of the film back together once separated by a consumer.

Abstract: A vertical form, fill and seal machine in conjunction with a product supply apparatus provides a continuous, heat sealable plastic film and zipper tape and provides separate, product filled, reclosable, top opening sealed bags. The apparatus includes a means for supplying the continuous plastic film, a means for supplying zipper tape, a means for sealing the zipper tape sections to the film, a vertical fill tube assembly, a feeding means including a film drive roll upstream, film pull belts adjacent the vertical fill tube, a vertical sealing means for sealing the edges of the continuous film to the edges of the continuous zippered cap strip, a horizontal sealing, perforating, and severing means for severing the plastic tube between the first and second horizontal seals, and a tensioning means for horizontally elongating the flexible plastic tube transverse to its length prior to formation of the horizontal seals.

Abstract: A package is provided of the type with a tear-away header which is separated from the product contents of the package by a zipper sealed to the interior of the package walls. The space within the header is used to package and an item such as a toy, game card, game token, coupon, or punched foam strip which can be used as a promotional or gift item. In this way, the item packaged within the header is kept separate from the product contents of the package.

Abstract: A flexible container for holding a liquid includes two walls made of a flexible material, the free overlaying edges of the walls being assembled together by a weld or an adhesive seam so as to define an inner sealed volume of the container. The two walls also define a spout designed to protrude outwards from a peripheral portion of the container, and an outflow channel connects the spout with the inner volume of the container. One or several obstacles are formed by welding or bonding together the two walls in the inner volume, substantially opposite from and in the vicinity of, the channel leading to the spout in such a manner as to limit the section of the passage available for the liquid between the inner volume and the outflow channel. One narrowed passage is left open in such a manner that a portion of the surface including the spout is deflected. This portion of the surface is substantially defined by the obstacle(s) and by folds directed substantially transverse with respect to the obstacles.

Abstract: A resealable container having an easily accessed yet airtight seal via the use of a tamper evident rupture strip which provides the container or package with improved shelf life for the product contained therein.
