A first opening device is provided for providing a first opening and an access by a user to the first substance in the bag, and at least one second opening device is provided for, subsequent to accessing the first substance via said first opening, providing at least one second opening and an access by the user to the at least one second substance in the bag. The first opening device is positioned such that first opening facilitates the access by the user to the first substance. The at least one second opening device is positioned such that the at least one second opening facilitates the access by the user to the at least one second substance.

Abstract: A female belt-shaped base is attached to a bag body at a region from a female hook to a first end near an open end of the bag body and to a second end near a housing space. A male belt-shaped base is attached to the bag body only in a bonding region without being attached at a region from a position where an engagement portion is continuously attached to a first end near the open end of the bag body.

Abstract: A medical device assembly is disclosed, comprising a medical device, such as a urinary catheter, and preferably having a hydrophilic surface coating, and a package forming a closed compartment around the catheter. The package is formed of at least one sheet of tearable material and comprises a first weld extending along a first side in a first direction of the package and a second weld extending along a second side in a second direction of the package. The first and second directions are different and preferably orthogonal to each other. A tear line is provided in the second weld, and arranged to direct a subsequent tear towards the first weld. Further, the first weld is provided with an inward protrusion, protruding inwardly towards the closed compartment, at a distance from the second weld. A corresponding method of production is also disclosed.

The first line of weakness has a plurality of gaps having no perforations in a region between the plurality of openings in the first layer and the plurality of traverse seals.

Abstract: A flexible packaging laminate has built-in opening/reclose and tamper-evidence features by forming the laminate from an outer structure joined in face-to-face relation to an inner structure. Score lines are formed in both structures to enable an opening to be formed through the laminate by lifting a flap or the like out of the plane of the laminate. The score line through the outer structure defines a larger opening than the score line through the inner structure, such that a marginal region of the outer structure extends beyond the edge of the opening portion of the inner structure. A pressure-sensitive adhesive is used to re-adhere the marginal region to an underlying surface of the inner structure adjacent the opening through the laminate. The outer score line includes at least one tab positioned within a heat seal region of the laminate.

Abstract: Described herein are devices pertaining to the closure of containers having at least one opening, such as bags. These devices can have at least one connecting structure configured to fit over at least a part of the container's opening, with the connecting structure being connected to at least two sides of the container. In some embodiments, the closure devices have base structures that the connecting structure can connect to and/or be held in place by. In some embodiments, these base structures are configured such that they substantially conceal the portion of the container to which they are connected. In some embodiments, the base structures have festive shapes, for example, being shaped like a birthday cake or flowers. Coupled with the ability to conceal the underlying container, the closure devices can effectively transform a basic paper bag into an enclosed festive gift bag.

The easily unsealable structure 50 may be formed by: forming a hole portion 50a or a portion formed by a weak line on the mounting base part 212, arranging a thickness of the mounting base part 212 in the unsealing start part 30 so as to be thinner than other portions, or forming a non-adhesive part between the mounting base part 212 and the cut tape 23.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a flexible pouch containing goods on a roll. The flexible pouch comprises a first flexible side wall, a second flexible side wall, a third flexible side wall, and a fourth flexible side wall. Adjacent flexible side walls are attached to one another to define the flexible pouch. At least two rolls of goods are located within the flexible pouch. A gusseted bottom is provided in the flexible pouch, a seal extending across the flexible pouch securing the bottom end of the flexible pouch. A gusseted top may also be provided in the flexible pouch with a seal extending across the flexible pouch securing the top end of the flexible pouch.

Abstract: An easy-open and reclosable package includes a pouch including a discrete strip, between first and second side panels; including a sealing segment, a backing segment, and an intermediate layer including a pressure sensitive adhesive, the first surface of the strip anchored to the inner surface of the first panel at a first location, and the second surface of the strip anchored to the inner surface of the second side panel at a first location; a die cut in the first panel, defining a primary die cut segment so arranged that when the package is opened, it can be reclosed by adhering the adhesive to the first side panel; and a product in the pouch. A secondary die cut segment can be disposed between the primary die cut segment and an end of the package. This secondary die cut can be at least partially underlain by the adhesive.

Abstract: A flexible film package for storing food products comprises a body with a side wall, a closed bottom end, and a closed top end. The body includes a primary line of weakness and a pair of secondary lines of weakness formed in the side wall. Each of the primary and secondary lines of weakness includes a plurality of score lines spaced apart by non-scored portions of the side wall. The score lines of the primary line of weakness have a greater length, width, and depth than the score lines of the secondary lines of weakness. The non-scored portions between the score lines of the primary line of weakness are longer than the non-scored portions between the score lines of the secondary lines of weakness.

Abstract: An easy open bag and method for making the same. A film is fed into a jaw assembly comprising a first seal jaw comprising a blade gap and a second seal jaw comprising a removable insert. The removable insert comprises a blade pin. When the first and second seal jaws are mated, a notch is formed. The film also comprises a score line in the outer layer. Upon tearing the notch the tear propagates along the score line. Thus, the package can be easily opened by initiating a tear at a tear notch.

Abstract: An easy-open and reclosable package includes a pouch including a reclosure mechanism including a first and second interlocking strip each having an interlocking segment having a base surface and an interlocking surface; a die cut in a first panel, the die cut defining a die cut segment so arranged that when the die cut segment is displaced, and the package is opened, a product can be accessed between the first and second interlocking strips, the first and second interlocking surfaces are at least partially exposed, and the package can thereafter be reclosed by folding the package such that the interlocking surface of the first interlocking strip is interlocked with the interlocking surface of the second interlocking strip. The first and second strips are not exposed until the package is initially opened, and are not interlocked with one another until the package is initially opened and then reclosed.

Any of the side panels may be configured in a manner which is both structural and functional as part of the bag enclosure, and aesthetic, ornamental or decorative and multi-dimensionally and graphically. The removable components may form part or all of any of the aesthetic, ornamental or decorative features of any of the side panels.

Abstract: The present invention provides a package (10) comprising an outer film layer (32) and at least one inner film layer (34,36), the inner and outer film layers being mutually laminated. The package also comprises a pair of mutually spaced lines of weakness (20) in at least the outer film layer, and means (22) for initiating tearing of the film layers. The lines of weakness and tear initiation means are disposed such that activation of the tear initiation means causes controlled tearing of all the film layers along the lines of weakness. The package is particularly suitable for block products such as chocolate bars.

Abstract: Provided is a packaging bag including a notch being formed in the edge seal portion, the notch serving as a starting point for opening of the bag body, and an easy-to-cut portion disposed on an extension of the notch in an opening direction. The easy-to-cut portion is formed to extend beyond the back seal portion between one side and the other side of the back seal portion, and the ends of the easy-to-cut portion are disposed away from side ends of the bag body, respectively.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for water storage and transport uses a container constructed from one of more flexible plastic sheets. A number of chambers for holding water are formed within the container. Each chamber is separated from an adjacent chamber by a web of the flexible plastic sheet. The web of the flexible plastic sheet is perforated to allow adjacent chambers to be separated from one another. In use, the water in the chambers may be liquid or frozen.

Abstract: A spout member including a base portion which is fixed to a bag body, a cylindrical portion which protrudes upward from the base portion, and a sealing portion which seals a front end of the cylindrical portion through a breakable thin portion is disposed between two sheets of film forming the bag body. Sealing-flap top segments may be cut-off to open the flexible shipping bag and these fold into the flexible shipping bag when the flexible shipping bag is turned inside out. Cosmetic flaps are attached inside the flexible shipping bag below the sealing flaps. These invert and become visible when the flexible shipping bag is turned inside out. A zipper to close the cosmetic bag is attached to top edges of cosmetic flaps below the point where the top segment is cut off. Once the flexible shipping bag is turned inside out, the zipper is positioned below the top edge of, and inside, the cosmetic bag and the cosmetic-flap bottom edge is positioned at the top of the cosmetic bag to provide a finished edge.

Abstract: A dual-chamber container with independent or combined access includes two individual chambers made of a breach-able material such as, but not limited to, a paper product. The container can be made from a unitary blank that is foldable to create a substantially triangular body. The triangular body includes a first and a second superimposed triangular chamber, each chamber having a distinct interior space for holding a dispensable substance. A first and a second access fin are positioned at each of a respective first and a second corner of the body, each access fin contiguous with a respective one of the first and the second chamber. The interior space of each chamber is individually accessible by removing a respective one of the access fins, thereby breaching it's respective chamber.

Abstract: A tearable closure and a container with a tearable closure is disclosed. The tearable closure includes non-penetrating perforations or score lines in and across the tearable closure on a first side, and has continuous film material on the second side. Such tearable closure can be incorporated into one of numerous types of containers, including envelopes, boxes, and bags. The tearable closure can be a flap, a lid, or a tape.

A release liner strip overlies the permanent sealing structure to prevent the permanent sealing structure from sealing the first and second panels until activation by a user. A resealable sealing structure is configured to repeatedly and nondestructively seal the first and second panels to close the opening and prevent access to the bag interior.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a front sheet for packaging, the front sheet comprising a laminate of an inner layer and an outer layer relative to the interior of the packaging. The inner layer incorporates a removable strip having longitudinal edges abutting adjacent panels of the inner layer. Removal of the removable strip forms an opening through the inner and outer layers of the front sheet. An overlay sheet overlays and is substantially in contact with the removable strip. An improved product can thereby be produced. The invention also relates to containers and bags formed using a front sheet as described, and methods of manufacturing and filling and sealing such containers and bags.

Abstract: A pouch for internal mixture of segregated reactants includes an outer containment envelope with a sealed reactant compartment inside. A middle shear strip and two outer strips, together defining two shear lines, are connected to the reactant compartment. The outer strips are folded under the reactant compartment with their tips anchored to the containment envelope. The middle strip extends away from the reactant compartment and through a slit in the containment envelope. Pulling on the middle strip causes the shear lines to lengthen until the reactant compartment is shorn open to release a reactant. A permeable second reactant compartment containing a second reactant may also be disposed inside the containment envelope, and may include a slit through which the middle strip passes. The reaction in the pouch may be exothermic and the pouch may be applied to any object to be heated such as a wet wipes dispenser.

Abstract: A package includes at least one layer of foamed thin film and an opening feature formed in the layer of foamed thin film. The foamed thin film has a caliper of from about 10 microns to about 250 microns thick. The foamed thin film comprises from about 5% to about 50% density reduction as compared to a non-foamed thin film of substantially the same caliper and substantially the same composition. The package may include foamed thin film made of a plastic resin and a whitening additive that is added to plastic resin. The whitening additive is selected to produce a foamed thin film having an opacity value of from about 35% to about 99%. The whitening agent is of substantially the same composition and is present in substantially the same amount as would be selected to produce substantially the same light reflectivity in a non-foamed thin film of substantially the same caliper and substantially the same composition.

Abstract: The disposable radiograph cassette cover is formed of two sheets of x-ray transparent pliable material having a low coefficient of friction to facilitate sliding the cover and contained cassette beneath a patient for the radiography procedure. The cover includes distinctively colored integral radiopaque anatomical markers disposed over a portion of the film or plate in the cassette to shield that portion of the underlying plate during the procedure. The plate is thus automatically marked during the procedure to show the side of the body where the cassette and cover were placed. The cassette is sealed within the cover by an adhesive flap, with the adhesive and/or release sheet also being color-coded to indicate the side to which the cover is to be used. The cassette is removed from the cover by tearing off the adhesively sealed end along provided perforations.

The plastic bag also includes a series of ribs that are formed in the region where the bag is folded to define a bottom end. The ribs reinforce the bottom end without compromising the flexibility of the bottom end.

Abstract: A handheld packet designed for one-handed operation with an elongated tab portion that can be gripped between the thumb and forefinger of the hand holding the packet. The elongated tab serves as a moment arm for breaching the neck of the packet when the elongated tab is pulled away from the packet. Breaching the neck portion of the packet permits the contents of the packet can be removed. The neck portion of the packet can be scored or serrated to further facilitate breaching the neck portion and opening the packet. The tab portion can be made from a textured material to increase grip, and the packet can be formed from layers of materials with different properties to enable storage of food, medicine, dangerous or sensitive chemicals, or other substances.

Abstract: A packaging for a food product that is configured to be easily openable includes a film substantially surrounding a food product and formed from a sheet having a first longitudinal side and a second longitudinal side, and a seam formed by the first longitudinal side overlapping and bonding to the second longitudinal side. The film may be formed to have directional tear properties generally perpendicular to the seam, the directional tear properties defining at least one tear path in the film.

The detachable corner portion is formed by a perforated tear line profile formed in juxtaposition in a front and a rear wall of the bag. The tear line profile defines a first straight line segment extending downwardly from the top edge of the bag and angulated at an angle with respect to the top edge in the direction of a near one of the opposed side edges of the bag. The first straight line segment merges into a concavely curved transition segment to connect to a second straight line segment extending downwardly from the transition segment at an angle with respect to the near one of the opposed side edges and terminates at the near one of the side edges. The concavely curved transition segment has a length which is approximately 15% of the total length of the perforated tear line profile.

The package also includes a first sealed end and a second sealed end at either end of the vertical sleeve to create a sealed package. The package includes a laser scribed ablation pattern extending across the web material with ablated portions having an about one to about three millimeter length separated by non-ablated portions of about 0.25 and about 0.75 millimeter length. The package has increased tensile strength to avoid breaking during the vertical-form-fill-and-seal process and provides a high likelihood that an outer edge and vertical seal of the package include ablated portions to provide an easy-to-start tear area to open the package. Also, the short spaces between ablated portions increase the likelihood of tear propagation along the ablation pattern, all the way across the package.

Abstract: A reclosable packaging having a slider/zipper assembly and a sealed header. The header has a tear notch for initiating tearing of the header material and a line of weakness for continued tearing of the header material at an elevation which is lower than the top of the slider. Most preferably, the line of weakness is lower than the bottom of the slider. When the header is torn along the line of weakness, at least part of the slider is exposed and accessible to the consumer. In one embodiment, the tear notch is located in a side edge at an elevation higher than the top of the slider. A slit is provided which traverses a range of elevations encompassing a first elevation near an elevation of the tear notch and a second elevation near an elevation of the line of weakness.

The bag-shaped film made of resin is a laminate film made of a front layer having an adhesive layer and a resin laminated thereon. The easy-fracture part is formed near an outer circumferential end of the bag-shaped film made of resin. On the surface layer, a non-adhesive part is formed toward a site of fracture from the easy-fracture part. Thus, the surface layer can be easily peeled off from this non-adhesive layer.

Abstract: A reclosable package includes a tray, a top sheet, and a fastener. The tray has a well for receiving contents and a peripheral flange surrounding the well. The top sheet is attached to the peripheral flange. The fastener has two interlocking members, one attached to the peripheral flange and the other attached to the top sheet. A tamper-evident feature located on the package prevents access to the fastener and is connected thereto by one or two lines of weaknesses. In one embodiment with one or two lines of weakness in the top sheet, the fastener remains adjacent to the tray's peripheral flange, which is intact after the tamper-evident feature is removed by tearing along these lines of weakness. In a second embodiment with two lines of weakness, the tamper-evident feature, comprised of portions of the peripheral flange and the top sheet, is torn from the package along both lines of weakness.

Abstract: A tear open package for a catheter having an insertion end and a funnel end includes a pair of thin elongated sheets of gas impermeable material joined about their edges by a perimeter heat seal. The elongated sheets of material form a catheter-receiving cavity in which the catheter insertion end is near one end of the cavity and the funnel end is near the other end of the cavity. The perimeter heat seal includes at least an insertion end heat seal, a funnel end heat seal, and a pair of side heat seals which extend along each side of the package from the insertion end heat seal to the funnel end heat seal. The elongated sheets of material each include a tear line extending at least from one side of the package toward the other side of the package through at least one of the side heat seals. Abstract: A package for consumable products includes an enclosure having a top, a bottom and opposing side portions, the enclosure containing one or more items chosen from a first set of consumable products, a first seal disposed about, and spaced inwardly from the periphery of, three adjacent side portions of the enclosure, a resealable closure adjacent the fourth side of the enclosure, the enclosure being folded so that the periphery of the fourth side is disposed adjacent to and parallel with the periphery of the side opposite to the fourth side, a second seal formed at the periphery of the folded sheets to form a second compartment of a size sufficient to house one or more items chosen from a second set of consumable products, and a third seal formed inwardly of the second seal and spaced outwardly of the first seal, the third seal being a perforated seal that enables detachment of a strip of material disposed between the periphery of the sheets and the third seal.

Abstract: A reclosable bag having a bottom flap with holes configured to allow a stack of the bags to be mounted on a wicket, a slider-actuated string zipper installed in a mouth at the top of the bag, and an open string zipper, not actuated by a slider, installed at the bottom of the bag. The wicket flap has a line of weakened tear resistance, such as a perforated line, along which the bag can be torn. Product is inserted into the receptacle via the open string zipper, and then that zipper is closed. After filling, the receptacle can be separated from the flap, which remains on the wicket, by tearing along the tear line.

Abstract: There is described a sealed package (1, 15) for pourable food products, formed from a multilayer packaging material (2, 16) and having an opening (10, 26) closed, on the inside of the package (1, 15), by a sheet element (11, 27), and a removable opening tab (12, 28) joined to the sheet element (11, 27) and covering the opening (10, 26) on the outside of the package (1, 15); the opening (10, 26) extending close to the end portion (8,17) of the package (1,15) and along at least half the perimeter of the package (1, 15).
