  • Patent number: 5425468
Abstract: A receptacle fox collecting body secretions or medical waste, including an outer rigid open-top container and an inner flexible, transparent bag or liner. The open top of the bag can be closed by a rib and groove type connection that extends the full width of the bag side tabs extend outwardly from opposite sides of the bag and are provided with finger holes. The bag has a size such that the upper portion of the bag drapes downwardly over the upper end of the container and the side tabs are located between the container and the downwardly hanging upper edge portion of the bag. After receiving secretions, the operator grasps the side tabs, pulling upwardly and outwardly to remove the bag from the container. The bag can then be closed through operation of the rib and groove connection.

  • Patent number: 5412906
Abstract: A wrapping apparatus having a springable base with attached arms which support a wrapping material. The spaced apart arms extend upward and outward from the perimeter of the springable base, which is flexible to assume an arched posture and a flat posture. In response to downward pressure on a central area of the springable base, the springable base snaps from the arched posture into the flat posture. When the springable base is in the arched posture, the arms and wrapping material are in an open position to receive an item to be wrapped. The arms and wrapping material move into a closed position when the springable base assumes the flat posture. The wrapping apparatus may be constructed with or without an upper skirt of wrapping material. The wrapping material may be inside the arms, outside the arms or may envelope the arms.

The oblong metal hoops are attached to the bag on each vertical side and to each other for 1/3 of their vertical length. The encased wire is thin enough so as not to interfere with the folding or rolling of the bag; but strong enough to support the weight of the empty bag. The present invention comprises of forming a plastic bags, in various sizes, out of sheet plastic and attaching metal wire hoops to its vertical seems so that when the two hoops are separated at the top and bottom the bag is self-supporting and maintained in an open position so that matter may be easily deposited. Since the bag requires no receptacle the bag may be made from plastic of colorful patterns.

  • Patent number: 4993846
Abstract: An expander for insertion into and expansion of a soft bag comprising a device which is folded or collapsed to a flat state or spread apart to an expanded state. The soft bag is collapsed to a compact form in the flat state for shipment. In the expanded position, the bag is expanded to give the appearance that it is filled. Some embodiments use a resilient member to automatically urge the device from a flat position to its expanded position when compressive forces are removed from the bag. Other forms use a cord for manually moving the expander device into its bag-expanding position. To provide for a greater extent of expansion in relation to the length of the device in the flat position, an expanding device having four sequentially arranged sections, each of which is articulatable with respect to each adjacent section is provided in some embodiments.

  • Patent number: 4989994
Abstract: An article of manufacture comprises a plurality of nested plastic bags for use in lining containers such as garbage cans or waste paper baskets. The assembly is manufactured by placing successive plastic bags over a jig. The upper edges of the plastic bags are adhered to each other, for example, by conventional heat sealing means. The adherence between individual bags is such that the innermost bag can be separated readily from the remaining bags after the assembly is placed within a container.

  • Patent number: 4979833
Abstract: A bag structure having a semirigid drawstring closure which passes through a hollow handle. The semirigid drawstring holds the mouth of the bag open so that articles can be easily deposited. A shoulder strap is attached to the handle. The shoulder strap and handle are provided for carrying as well as suspending the bag. A flexible tubular material partially inverted creates the double wall of the bag and a fold at the bag mouth. The fold contains the drawstring and the handle, and an additional seam is not required to encase the drawstring. The flexible tubular material is preferably a mesh. Mesh provides a strong bottom seam, which is preferably created by lacing a cord through the mesh openings in the four layers of material. Also, the transparency of the mesh enables an optional product tag to be trapped within the double wall of the bag and visible.

The walls and the bottom are sealed along their periphery to form the chamber. The pouch has a self-opening spout formed in part by the fold assembly which expands and springs open when the sealed end of the spout is cut off. The fold assembly not only provides a large spout opening, but also provides a spring force which keeps the spout open so that all the product may be emptied from the chamber.
