A pair of stretchable support cords replace the typical support ropes that permanently attach to the bag at the bottom and removably attached near the top at a pair of cord receivers. The support cords have a tubular outer sheath that stretches. Within the outer sheath, a non-stretchable inner cord limits the outer sheath's extension. The bag folds upwardly, near the bottom to retain a quantity of produce within. When both support ropes are removed from the cord receivers, the bottom of the bag folds down to dump the produce. The stretchable support cords extend to increase the holding capacity of the bag automatically.

The ends are folded over to enclose the drawstring, and are adhered, welded, or otherwise secured in this fashion. The remaining two opposed edges are then joined, thereby reconfiguring the rectangular panel as a cylinder, with one open end encircled by the drawstring and the other open end closed by the gather.

The device includes a central panel and a plurality of flexible aprons, brought into firm engagement with the bottom and lower side, respectively, of the damaged flexible bulk container by means of elastic members. After securing the device to the damaged flexible bulk container, the container may be handled, stored and transported, with the device minimizing and containing spillage of flowable material in and about the damaged flexible bulk container. An aperture in the central panel accommodates the flexible bulk container discharge spout, and allows the contents of the container to be discharged therethrough. Other embodiments of the invention include an aperture in one of the flexible aprons to accommodate side-discharge flexible bulk containers, and extension flaps on each flexible apron to contain leakage from the upper sides of a damaged flexible bulk container.
