Abstract: To facilitate a trouble-free charging of scrap metal having differing constitutions, such as light and heavy scrap metal, from a lower discharge opening of a shaft-shaped charging device or a charging stock preheater (1) into a melting vessel by a pusher (13), the lateral surfaces of the pusher (13) are formed so as to converge from the upper side to the lower side and the actuating device (2) of the pusher (13) is pivotably supported in a frame structure (3) about a horizontal axis. In addition, the upper boundary of the discharge opening for the charging stock from the shaft (2) is preferably formed by a horizontal, rotatably supported roller (26), more preferably with engaging elements (30) distributed around the circumferential surface. Sections of the charging device that are severely mechanically stressed are preferably formed by steel billet sections connected to form a structural unit.

Abstract: The invention teaches a new type of mesh bag suitable for machine packaging. The first end of the mesh bag is a reserved opening for filling and sealing. The second end of the mesh bag includes a one-pull, easy-open mechanism and a re-closing mechanism. The re-closing mechanism is a drawstring perforating around the second end of the mesh bag. The one-pull, easy open mechanism is a line of easy open stitches which sews a small strip of hard paper with the wall of the mesh bag at its second end. The two mechanisms can be pre-set in parallel or integrated in a same line with the small strip of the hard paper overlaid on the drawstring.

Abstract: A security bag for displaying items of merchandise includes a mesh bag formed of metal wire providing an internal storage chamber. A two-piece member locking device is attached to an open end of the bag. A magnetically attachable locking tine is mounted in one of the members and engages a locking projection on the second member which is slidably received into the first member to lock the bag in a closed position protecting the stored merchandise from theft. An EAS tag is secured within one of the locking members. A magnetic key moves the locking tine to an unlocked position when placed adjacent the locking tine enabling the two locking members to be separated into an unlocked position and the bag open end spread apart for removing items therefrom.

Abstract: An airbag and a method for making an airbag of the type that includes an irregularly-shaped panel, such as the side panels of a passenger airbag. The irregularly-shaped side panel is first divided into two segments with a single straight line to define an inflation segment and an impact segment. The straight line drawn to define the largest polygon that can be defined by any single straight line without coming too close to the inflation module hole. By segmenting the larger, irregularly shaped panel into two smaller ones with one of those being polygonal, better nesting of the segments can be obtained, which significantly improves fabric utilization to offset the labor cost from sewing the two segments together when making the irregularly shaped side panel required for the airbag.

Abstract: The invention relates to a coated fabric object and a method of making the coated fabric object, including a vase, container or furniture panel, the object having an outer fabric wrapping with a sewn seam and drawstring to tighten the seam around the neck of the object, an inner fabric collar applied and fitted to the opening of the object, after which a clear resin coating is applied to the fabric, causing the fabric to become stiff as the resin hardens, permanently bonding the fabric to the object to which it is applied.

Abstract: A re-sealable container closure label including a base label and a cover label, and a hook-and-loop fastener system and a tamper-evident tear strip is sandwiched therebetween. In a preferred embodiment, the base label is adhered to the front wall of a container, preferably a bag, adjacent an opening in the bag. A flap of the bag is folded downwardly over the opening and adheres to the front wall, the cover label, the two-part hook-and-loop fastener system and the tear strip. In an alternative embodiment, container closure label includes a hook-and-loop fastener system and a tear strip secured only to a base label. This alternative embodiment label is adhered to the front wall of a bag as in the preferred embodiment, except that the flap is adhered directly over the fastener system and tear strip. To open a bag sealed with the re-sealable container closure label, a user pulls the tear strip, which permits the flap to open and form a pour opening.

The package is formed of a flexible material and includes a front panel, a rear panel, and a pair of opposed side gussets. The package is initially sealed, e.g., by a peelable seal line. The panels and gussets each include a top portion. The package also includes a pour-through mouth, e.g., a portion of the panels and one side gusset is arranged to be removed from the remainder of the package. The pour-through mouth is located at the top of the package at one of the side gussets and is arranged to be opened by the pour-spout closure to provide access to the contents of the package. The closure includes a pair of closure sections hingedly secured to each other and each section includes a cut-away portion.

Abstract: A bag with a security closure having two opposing main segments corresponding to the bag front panels, and a pair of side segments at each end of the opposing main segments which are foldable about a crease line, the upper edges of the front panel segments and side segments defining the bag mouth. A stiffening bar is provided at the upper edge of each of the main segments and side segments, the stiffening bars being formed in a group when the bag segments are folded to close the bag mouth. There is a closure bar having a U-shape channel with an inwardly extending flange at each end and the group of stiffening bars fits within the inwardly extended flanges of the U-shaped channel as the closure bar is moved over the group of segments with the flanges being below the group of stiffening members. A locking member is fastened to the end of the closure bar to prevent its withdrawal from the bag and a receiver for the locking member can be on a piece that is articulated from the closure bar.

Abstract: A device for the closure and sealing of envelopes and the like. First and second elongated strips of plastic material are foldable upon each other along a narrow longitudinal hinge line. The first strip has a series of locking pins distributed along its length. Each of the locking pins has a weakened base. The second strip is provided with a series of sockets adapted for receiving respective locking pins in locking relation therein. To permit the device to be opened easily when it has been applied to a plastic envelope with the locking pins penetrating orifices formed along the two borders at the mouth of the envelope, at least a part along the length of the longitudinal hinge line is weakened starting from a first end, and each strip is provided, at its first end, with an appendage capable of being held between the fingers of the user.

Abstract: A bag (2) with an access opening defined by a pair of edges and a closure (4) for closing the access opening is described. The closure (4) comprises a first bar (6, 8, 6a, 8a) secured to one edge and a second bar (6, 8, 6a, 8a) releasably connectable to the first with the edges clamped together to close the opening. The releasable connection is formed by at least one bayonet connector (20, 22, 30, 20a, 22a, 33a).

Abstract: A security bag having front and rear panels with first and second patterns of openings along upper edges of front and rear panels, respectively, of the security bag. A flap has a lower edge connected to the outside surface of the rear panel so that the flap covers the second pattern of openings. Preferably, the flap extends beyond the upper edge of the rear panel a length permitting the flap to be folded over the front panel and cover at least a portion of the first pattern of openings. An adhesive covers surfaces of the flap that cover the first and second patterns of openings. A release liner covers the adhesive. Upon the release liner being removed and the flap being folded over the front panel to cover the first pattern of openings, an adhesive-to-adhesive seal is created through continuous and contiguous portions of the first and second patterns of openings that extends through the front and rear panels.

Abstract: A re-usable device for closing bags and the like, which may be sealed in a locked configuration by applying a security seal (24). The device (1) comprises two elongate parts (2, 3) the may be superimposed on each other, The first part (2), which is attached along one side of the mouth of a bag to be closed, is provided with a series of locking pins (6, 6') that--on closing the bag--pass into corresponding orifices (9) in the second part the which is attached along an opposite side of the mouth of the bag. The device is locked in this bag closed configuration by means of locking elements (13, 13') that slide longitudinally along internal passages (8, 8') in the second part until the reach a position where they lock the locking pins (6, 6'). The locking elements (13, 13') may be sealed in such configuration by applying a security seal (24).

Abstract: The invention provides a disposable litter bag system comprising a holder with a clip for holding a bundle of tear-off bags. Each bag is provided with a flap adjacent to a top opening in the bag having at least one flap opening for insertion therethrough of engaging tabs projecting from the clip. The clip has opposed jaws hingedly connected together, with engaging stops projecting from one jaw and a receiving channel formed in the second jaw for detachably lodging the engaging stops therein. The holder preferably comprises a pair of flexible straps extending through the clip which can be trapped in the clearance between the panels of an automobile cabin, for example the glove compartment.

Abstract: A substantially tubular bag for containing materials and protecting same against moisture and fine particle contamination, and having improved resistance to breakdown of structural integrity during loading and handling. At least one outer layer forms an outer tube member, while at least one inner layer forms an inner tube member. The at least one inner layer is formed from a substantially moisture and fine particle-impermeable material. An inner seal closes an end of the inner tube member. Outer closure means are arranged across the end of the outer tube member substantially adjacent to the inner seal. The end of the bag is folded to isolate the inner seal, and the outer closure means is affixed in place against one side of the bag, so as to prevent shock and disruption of the inner seal during loading and/or handling of the bag.

Abstract: A flexible hinged handle sewn to the closure strip of a multiple ply bag. The hinged handle has a generally U-shaped and a pair of notches pivotably joining a grip member to the legs of the U-shape so that the grip is pivotal to provide a comfortable grasping surface for lifting the bag when filled with a product.

Abstract: A shipping sack having side walls defining a mouth from which contents may be discharged, includes a non-reclosable stitched fastener across and closing the mouth. The stitched fastener includes a removable chain stitch and a removable rip tape for facilitating manual opening of the stitched fastener. The rip tape in one embodiment is composed of a strip having a cut-out opening therethrough defining a handle adapted to be manually grasped for carrying the shipping sack. The rip tape also includes a free end extending beyond the edge of the shipping sack to facilitate manual access to the rip tape and to facilitate pulling the rip tape to remove the stitched fastener. In another embodiment, the handle rip tape includes a continuous row of finger holes in lieu of the single cut-out opening.

Abstract: A reclosable sack having a mouth from which contents may be discharged, including a primary non-reclosable stitched fastener across and closing the mouth. The stitched fastener includes a removable chain stitch and tear strip for facilitating manual opening of the primary fastener. The reclosable sack also includes a secondary reclosable fastener having a pair of interlocking profile strips that are attached at lower inner wall portions to the upper edge of the sack walls outboard of the stitched fastener. The secondary profile fastener is heat sealed at its ends and allows the sack to be reclosed once the primary non-reclosable fastener has been removed.

Abstract: A security envelope for transporting confidential papers or money is disclosed having a high degree of security, being easy to close and seal as well as simple to manufacture. The envelope of the invention is provided with a closure and seal device having a first part extended along one side of the opening thereof, external of the envelope, such part being formed with a series of long pins distributed along its length. The pins pass through both sides of the envelope along a line adjacent to the opening to be received and locked in locking sockets formed in a second part extended along the opening on the other side of the envelope. The two parts of the closure and seal device are preferably hinged together along corresponding londitudinal edges so that when closed, the hinge lies along the opening so as to prevent access to the interior of the envelope through the spaces between the pins.

Abstract: A combined protective and suspending assembly for fenders, more particularly to an abrasion and weather resistant cover for pneumatic or foam boat fenders of the cylindrical double-ended-eye type. The cover is a generally rectangular sheet of material preferably rip stop nylon, having a drawstring pocket at the bottom, and a heavy webbing along the side margins. In use, the cover wraps around the fender with one eye projecting below the drawstring. The drawstring passes through the eye and then extends to be used as the lacing to lace the cover to the fender. Extensions of the webbing form a hanger strap having grommets therein for being secured to turnbuckles fastened to the boat. The fabric cover may have a reflective exterior surface for night safety, and the strap may be used as a sling for carrying or for throwing the fender when used as an auxiliary float in man-overboard situations. The cover overlies the webbing to provide a flap to protect and hide the lacing.

Abstract: A tamperproof, resealable bag of the type used to sell and store materials such as dog food, and the like. A unique sealing strip of the hook and loop fastening variety is employed therein. The bag is a flexible, frangible material such as paper and includes a flap extending from the rear edge over the front edge and down along the front piece. A strip of adhesive is disposed along the bottom edge of the flap to secure it to the front piece. A piece of cording is disposed between the flap and the front piece adjacent the top of the adhesive strip with an end extending outward therefrom for gripping. The two strips comprising the hook and loop fastening system are disposed between the flap and the front piece above and adjacent to the cording with one of the strips adhesively attached to the flap and the other to the front piece of the bag.

Abstract: A bulk material bag includes an inner bag united with a cover bag. One tape of a closed slide fastener overlaps the interior of an inner bag rear top extension and is secured thereto. The top extension, together with the attached closed slide fastener and a rear top cover bag flap is folded over the front face of the cover bag and the second tape of the slide fastener is secured to the front face of the cover bag and the flap is secured to the front face of the cover bag and covers and protects the slide fastener until the initial opening of the bulk material bag.

Abstract: A hood-like top closure on a bag top has end portions extending beyond opposite sides of the bag and the end portions are closed against leakage. The top closure may have a zipper separably connecting a pair of attachment flanges one of which extends along and is secured to one face of the bag top along the top opening and the other of which flanges is secured to a second face of the bag top along the opening. More particularly, the end portions of the attachment flanges are adhesively bonded so as to prevent sifting or leakage therethrough. A method of and apparatus for making the bag are also provided.
