Diaphragm Patents (Class 384/141)
  • Patent number: 10830152
Abstract: A gas turbine engine includes, among other things, a fan section, a core engine, a bypass passage, and a bypass ratio defined as the volume of air passing into the bypass passage compared to the volume of air passing into the core engine, the bypass ratio being greater than or equal to about 8 at cruise power. A gear arrangement is configured to drive the fan section. A compressor section includes both a first compressor section and a second compressor section. A turbine section is configured to drive the gear arrangement, and may have a low pressure turbine with four stages and a low pressure turbine pressure ratio greater than about 5:1, and a high pressure turbine with two stages. An overall pressure ratio is provided by the combination of a pressure ratio across the first compressor section and a pressure ratio across the second compressor section, and greater than about 40, measured at sea level and at a static, full-rated takeoff power.

  • Patent number: 10392970
Abstract: A shaft assembly for a rotary machine, the rotary machine includes a low pressure compressor, a high pressure compressor, a high pressure turbine, and a low pressure turbine. The shaft assembly includes an outer shaft configured to couple the high pressure compressor to the high pressure turbine. The outer shaft includes a first forward bearing assembly positioned forward of the high pressure compressor, and a first aft bearing assembly positioned between the high pressure compressor and the high pressure turbine. The shaft assembly also includes an inner shaft rotatable about a common axis with the outer shaft that at least partially extends about the inner shaft. The inner shaft is configured to couple the low pressure compressor to the low pressure turbine. The inner shaft includes a second forward bearing assembly positioned forward of the low pressure compressor, and a second aft bearing assembly positioned proximate the high pressure turbine.

  • Patent number: 6264204
Abstract: A sealing device for explosion-proof motors, the particularity of which is the fact that it comprises a first element which is coupled to the motor casing and a second element which is coupled to the driving shaft through rolling means; the first and second elements are mutually coupled through elastic elements to allow their relative movement.

  • Patent number: 5098112
Abstract: A dynamic seal assembly is intended for use as a facial seal between radially inner and outer relatively rotating members having a seal body mounted on a generally L-shaped annular ring, a counterface mounted on the inner of the relatively rotating members with the bearing disposed in journaled relation to the counterface, and the seal body having a sealing lip disposed at an acute angle with respect to the seal body to engage a radial flange on the bearing member and a flexible diaphragm extends radially and outwardly from the seal body to terminate in an outer circumferential sealing portion in sealed engagement with the outer of the relatively rotating members. The bearing member is so disposed with respect to the counterface as to maintain a uniform circumferential band of contact between the sealing lip and flange portion of the counterface notwithstanding axial or radial shifting between the relatively rotating members.

  • Patent number: 4968044
Abstract: A rotary facial seal and a thrust bearing are adapted to be installed between inner and outer concentric relatively movable members, such as, the spindle housing and axle of a motor vehicle, the facial seal having an annular diaphragm made up of an inner seating portion mounted on the axle, an outer sealing lip tapering away from a hinged section in a seal body to engage a radial wall of the housing, and an intermediate resilient wall section between the seal lip and seating portion to yieldingly urge the sealing lip into a thin band of contact with the radial wall under the biasing action of the intermediate wall section; and the thrust bearing includes a bearing member which is installed at the inner bore of the spindle housing and is freely rotatable with respect to the spindle housing when engaged by the end of the shaft and inner seating portion of the facial seal.

  • Patent number: 4841183
Abstract: A dynamoelectric machine or electric motor construction is disclosed in which the motor has a cylindrical shell having a stator core press-fitted therein and positioned axially with respect to the shell at a predetermined position. The stator core has a central bore which rotatably receives a rotor assembly, the latter having a rotor shaft extending outwardly from each end thereof. An end shield is press-fitted into each end of the cylindrical shell to a predetermined axial position thereby to support bearings journaling the rotor shaft, with the rotor shaft extending axially outwardly through one of the end shields for connection to its application. This one end shield has a seal which is maintained in perpendicular relation to the rotor shaft and which slidingly seals the interior of the motor relative to the end shield and to the rotary application and rotor shaft.

  • Patent number: 4687347
Abstract: An axial joint arrangement with integrated seal is provided with three successively arranged bearing rings, the upper and lower bearing rings having spherical guiding surfaces which oppose corresponding spherical surfaces of the middle bearing ring. The upper and lower bearing rings are connected and the middle bearing ring slides therebetween. The guiding surface of the lower bearing ring serves to center and guide the middle bearing ring and the guiding surface of the upper bearing ring serves to transmit operating loads to the middle bearing ring. A first sealing disk is attached to the middle bearing ring. One face of the first sealing disk abuts a first sealing surface and the other face abuts an intermediate disk. The intermediate disk is sealingly connected by a bellows to a second sealing disk, which is in turn connected to a second sealing surface.
