Patent number: 6467964Abstract: A self cleaning bearing assembly for use in a dehydrator washer for particulate solids which comprises a feed reservoir for water and particulate solids and an inclined main screw conveyor having a projecting shaft lower end portion submerged in the reservoir. The bearing assembly comprises a housing having an end cap at one end and an opening at the opposite end in communication with the interior of the feed reservoir. The housing has its longitudinal center line coincident with the main screw conveyor and a stub shaft mounted on the end cap of the bearing assembly also has its axis coincident with that of the main crew conveyor and its shaft. The projecting lower end portion of the main conveyor shaft and the stub shaft are disposed with the stub shaft in radially spaced relationship within the main shaft and a sleeve bearing is disposed in the radial space between the stub shaft and the main shaft.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2001Date of Patent: October 22, 2002Assignee: National Conveyors Company, Inc.Inventors: Brian L. Smith, Arnold Serenkin

Patent number: 6296990Abstract: A gas (air) beating in a ceramic body is made using a separate restriction member to define the air restriction feature. The separate member may be a metal bushing in which an insert is fitted, the insert having an opening defining the actual restriction feature. Alternatively the separate member may be a ceramic plate with restriction features machined by laser or abrasion before or after attachment to the main body.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 1999Date of Patent: October 2, 2001Assignee: ASM Lithography, B.V.Inventor: Yim Bun Patrick Kwan

Patent number: 5437509Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a bearing and seal assembly apparatus for a endless chain drive for trenchers. The disclosure is particularly directed to the use of such an apparatus in trenchers used in rock or hard packed soils. The apparatus of the present invention uses bearing and seal assemblies that prolong the useful life of the gear box, the drive assembly and ultimately the trencher as a whole.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 1993Date of Patent: August 1, 1995Assignee: James C. Patent number: 5011301Abstract: An auxiliary sealing system generally includes a flexible sealing ring, with an optional restraining element, such as a metal band, secured therearound for further fastening same to a given circular member. Such circular member may comprise an extension of the inner race of a bearing assembly secured to a shaft by a plurality of set screw arrangements radially disposed about such inner race extension. The auxiliary seal may be provided with radial holes in the circumference thereof for selective alignment with such set screws to provide access thereto. After the set screws are tightened, the auxiliary seal may be rotated and clamped to the given circular member to thereby protect the set screws from contamination.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1989Date of Patent: April 30, 1991Assignee: Reliance Electric CompanyInventor: Howard W. Patent number: 4854743Abstract: The present invention includes a rear seal assembly that holds and seals a rotatable shaft extending through the cooling chamber and extending axially outboard through a rear wall in the cooling chamber. In the interior of the cooling chamber, the seal assembly includes a first resilient seal having a coupling section fitted about the shaft and a radially protruding lip section at the base of the coupling section. At the axially outboard end portion of the seal housing, an axially outboard male threaded extension protrudes from a wall abutment surface of the seal housing. The outboardly extending male threaded extension of the seal housing mates with complementary threads in the hole through the rear wall of the cooling chamber. A retaining ring, that is metal in the preferred embodiment, is threaded from the outside of the chamber onto the outwardly extending male threaded extension of the seal housing. The retaining ring has a threaded outer circumference.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 1988Date of Patent: August 8, 1989Assignee: ICEE USA CorporationInventors: Rodney N. Sexton, Floyd S. Woolf, Timothy W. Patent number: 4600318Abstract: Accelerated wear of the seal in a thrust bearing and seal assembly is avoided by the provision of a bearing having a thrust bearing pad engaging a shoulder on a shaft with the inner diameter of the bearing being spaced from the shaft sufficiently to define a seal receiving space. An axially movable seal having a sealing surface engaging the shoulder is located in the space and is biased against the shoulder by a biasing spring. When deflection occurs, the sealing element is free to yield axially, allowing the loading to be taken up by the thrust pad.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 1985Date of Patent: July 15, 1986Assignee: Sundstrand CorporationInventor: E. Patent number: 4556239Abstract: An arrangement at rotating shafts with a wheel fixedly mounted to the shaft, which wheel rotates in a housing surrounding the wheel, an essentially pipe-shaped element surrounding the shaft, an with essentially axially sealing surface provided sealing device between the pipe-shaped element and the wheel and a passage in the housing for the shaft with a sealing device, which seals against the pipe-shaped element. There is mounted a fastening device on the shaft for axial displacement of the pipe-shaped element in order to cause a sealing effect by means of the sealing device between the pipe-shaped element and the wheel. The fastening device is fixed in sealing position by a locking device.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1983Date of Patent: December 3, 1985Assignee: Sala International AktiebolagInventor: Bengt O. Patent number: 4368933Abstract: In a housing bearing composed of two parts connected to each other to form a chamber receiving a bearing a pressure-compensating valve is provided which includes an enclosure secured to the housing and having an internal wall, and a cover connected to the enclosure and spaced therefrom to receive a diaphragm. The diaphragm has a number of needle-shaped perforations which open when the diaphragm expands in response to overpressure in the bearing housing and close when the diaphragm is in inoperative position.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 1981Date of Patent: January 18, 1983Assignee: Kuhbier GmbH & Co.Inventor: Alfons Motsch
