  • Patent number: 9068658
Abstract: Apparatus to bias valve closure members are described. An example valve includes a valve body having an opening defining a passageway. The opening has an axis that is substantially coaxially aligned with a flow path axis defined by the passageway. A first shaft supports a closure member within the passageway of the valve body and relative to the opening and an end cap removably coupled to the valve body retains the shaft within a bore of the valve body. A spring is disposed between the first seating surface and a second seating surface opposite the first seating surface to provide a force to oppose the weight of the closure member and facilitate alignment of the closure member relative to the opening of the passageway.

Abstract: The invention provides a submersible pumping system which includes a motor containing self-centering rotor bearing assemblies. Each rotor bearing assembly in accordance with the present invention includes a sleeve, a journal, and at least two seals. The journal is preferably disposed about the sleeve which is keyed to the power transmission shaft of the motor. The journal has a peripheral surface which is configured to have at least two circumferential support regions which are spaced apart from one another. Each of these circumferential support regions supports a corresponding seal. Each seal includes an interface member and an activating member. When in place in a rotor section of a submersible pump motor, the seals frictionally engage the inner surface of the stator and exert a centering force against the journal and thus against the bearing sleeve and the power transmission shaft.

  • Patent number: 4877339
Abstract: The invention relates to bearing support of a throttle valve shaft in the housing of an exhaust gas line in which the shaft is rotatably supported on both sides in a bearing sleeve element constructed cup-shaped. The cups themselves are retained by spring force against the housing extending correspondingly conically within these areas. In order to keep small the actuating forces necessary for the rotation of the throttle valve shaft, each bearing sleeve element is retained by itself against the housing by means of a spring supported at the housing and the securing of the shaft against any axial displacement takes place by a separate axial bearing.
