  • Patent number: 6589031
Abstract: A turbo blood pump includes a housing 1 having a pump chamber 2, an inlet port 3, and an outlet port 4, an impeller 5 disposed rotatably in the pump chamber, an upper bearing 9 and a lower bearing 10 supporting the impeller rotatably, and a driving force transmitting unit for driving the impeller to rotate. The upper bearing is supported at a position in the pump chamber below the inlet port, so that a cross-sectional area of the pump chamber in a plane including an upper end of the upper bearing and being orthogonal to a shaft of the impeller is larger than a cross-sectional area of a flow path of the inlet port at a portion where the inlet port is coupled to the pump chamber, and thus obstruction with respect to blood flow by the upper bearing is of such a degree as to be permissible from a practical viewpoint, while an impeller is supported by upper and lower bearings. Thereby, the pump is less likely to cause problems of blood stagnation and thrombus formation.

  • Patent number: 6520476
Abstract: A spindle positioning support structure includes a support body housed in a center opening of an air fan seat. The support body has an arched trough which has same profile as the bottom end of an air fan spindle. The arched trough has a top end formed a plurality of arched latch lips. Every two latch lips are spaced by a slot. Therefore the latch lips are extensible according to the diameter of the air fan spindle, and may couple with an indented annular groove formed on the peripheral rim of the air fan spindle thereby to allow the air fan spindle anchoring at a restricted center of the aid fan seat for positioning the air fan spindle accurately. The arched trough also may contain lube oil to reduce rotational friction of the air fan spindle.

  • Patent number: 6406185
Abstract: A spindle seat in a fan provides a spindle holding seat and a spindle with a conical end. Because the conical end contacts with the holding seat by way of point contact, the frictional area between the holding seat and the conical end is very small. Hence, a little friction force may generate to result in the fan is provided with a smooth running, low noise, and less heat generation.

  • Patent number: 5598746
Abstract: A transmission assembly used to connect with a rotatable ornament or a toy to provide bilateral rotations for achieving their cosmetic effect comprises a casing enclosing a set of three pinions which are driven by a battery-operated electrical circuit therein. An elastic rectangular bar used to restrict the rotary extent of a first pinion will elastically obstruct the rotary movement of the pinion in order to provide continuous bilateral rotation and each turn of the bilateral rotation will exceed 360.degree. without making any noise. The noses of the spindles of the pinions are formed as tapering sockets or as tapering pointed plugs to enhance the intensity of the assembly. Most of the components in this assembly are made integrally of plastic material so as to reduce the time and cost to manufacture.

  • Patent number: 5570956
Abstract: A shaft toe mount intended for inclined or vertical agitators such as are used for the processing of materials including food materials in a kettle, the present toe mount provides a bearing surface for that end of a rotary shaft of the agitator which extends into the interior of the kettle. Agitators advantageously mounted by the shaft toe mount of the invention include mixing structures capable of stirring or mixing operations within a kettle and particularly when inner walls of the kettle are to be scraped to prevent material adhesion or "burn-on" such as occurs when food materials are heated and/or cooked within a kettle. The present shaft toe mount is configured to allow rapid removal from the kettle so that the mount as well as the kettle and agitator can be cleaned daily according to accepted standards of cleanliness.

  • Patent number: 5190379
Abstract: A roller cutter assembly for a roller reamer which can be attached to a drill string is formed of a cylindrical body having an integral tapered bearing pin at each end. A journal bearing block for each bearing pin can be secured to the roller reamer by welding so as to hold the cutter rotatably on the reamer. The bearing block has a diameter slightly larger than that of the bearing pin. The angle of taper of the bearing pins and bearing surfaces is greater than the arc tangent of the coefficient of static friction between the coacting bearing surfaces such that the bearing pins do not self-lock in the bearing blocks.

  • Patent number: 5145298
Abstract: A high speed spindle is provided which includes a rotor driven by an electric motor and provided with tapered journals received in tapered rubber bearings. Lubricating water flows to the bearings through metered openings in the journals, flowing from the openings through reverse spiral grooves in the journals which have diminishing cross section. The water flowing through the rotor also cools the rotor, as well as the collet driven by the rotor and a tool held by the collet. Rubber seals around the rotor shaft wear to a zero clearance during run-in for confining the water that exhausts from the bearings. Compressed air is introduced into the spindle to cooperate with the seals in preventing water leakage. The compressed air also reacts against a bladder that is arranged to impose an end load on one of the bearings, which is movable, to urge the bearing toward its journal. The force is varied to increase the bearing end load as rotor speed increases.
