Abstract: A conical rotary valve for chromatographic applications is provided, including a valve stator, a valve rotor, a drive adaptor and a pair of stoppers each mounted to the stator. The drive adaptor is rotatable and coupled to the valve rotor for transmitting a rotating force thereto. The drive adaptor has a body and a pair of radial arms projecting from the body radially outward from the axis of rotation on opposite sides thereof. Each of the pair of radial arms is movable along a respective arcuate travelling course with respect to the stator. The stoppers are each positioned to obstruct one of the radial arms at an end of the corresponding travelling course. The stoppers are positioned to simultaneously engage the radial arms, thereby balancing the reaction forces created within the valve when the radial arms reach the ends of their travelling courses.
Abstract: A motor support has a slidable carriage that includes a pair of elongated tubes slidably encompassing parallel elongated fixed cylindrical rails on a stationary base bed with bearing sleeves press fitted in the end portions of the glider tubes. The bearing sleeves support the guide tubes on the rails and transfer the motor load on the glider tubes to the rails with a reservoir of a viscous lubricant within the center portions of the glider tubes. A spring commands the strength of the movement of the slidable carriage and is sealed in a spring housing using one or more gusset plates.
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved rocker arm system for actuating poppet valves in high performance internal combustion engines. The rocker arm provides trunnion journals extending from each side fitted to outboard bearing mounts to guide the motion of the rocker arm. An I-beam rocker arm having high stiffness and low mass is disclosed.
Abstract: Wet cup throat seal (3) and bearing (2) combination is designed for use in a reciprocating piston pump where in the wet cup (1) is designed to hold the seal assembly thereby insuring proper displacement rod (5) alignment and maximizing seal life. The construction also allows for easy and inexpensive replacement and allows piston seals (6) and throat seals (3) to be interchangeable.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for snap-fit attachment of a throttle shaft to a throttle body. A pair of resilient cantilevered tangs is formed on a distal end of the throttle shaft. Bearings are installed within a bore formed in the throttle body to rotatably support the shaft. The shaft is inserted through an opening in the bearings to compress the tangs and the tangs are resiliently returned to an extended position to prevent withdrawal of the shaft from the throttle body.

Abstract: An EGR valve having a self-compensating bearing assembly for use with a valve member having a shaft reciprocable within a valve body, includes a rigid bearing member for providing radial support and axial guidance to the valve shaft as the shaft reciprocates in the valve body; and a pliant annulus supporting the bearing member, where the pliant annulus has a density and thickness sufficient to accommodate distortion of the rigid bearing member in response to changes in temperature without interfering with shaft actuation.
Abstract: A poppet valve assembly having a spring for holding the valve in a closed position and permitting opening of the valve in response to air pressure including valve stem alignment provided by a sleeve in engagement with the spring and having a cross pin supporting surface for engagement with the pin in shear to avoid bending.
