Abstract: The rotatable fork-plate of a fork lift truck is mounted to a large-diameter slewing gear, and the slewing bearing fits inside. In place of the usual ball bearing, a plastic strip is curved around into a circle, and placed between the slewing gear and the stator frame. The circle is not complete, in that a circumferential gap is left between the ends. The rotor and stator are formed with suitable faces for supporting journal forces, and thrust forces both ways, via the plastic strip. The preferred profile of the strip is channel-shaped. The strip floats circumferentially between the rotor and the stator. The plastic strip being corrosion free, no seals are provided on the bearing, even for operation near sea-water.

  • Patent number: 5511885
Abstract: A plain flanged bearing or bushing for supporting a rotating shaft in a thin walled frame of an electrophotographic printing machine. The composite bearing has a flanged end and is adapted to be inserted in an opening in a thin walled support member until the flange abuts the surface of the wall. • Patent number: 5232056
Abstract: A drawbar assembly includes a self-locking bushing which is supported from the drawbar mounting bracket by a conventional nut and bolt fastener. Each end of the bushing includes radial line projections which bite into the mounting bracket and into a washer interposed between the nut and the bushing when the nut is threaded onto the bolt. By capturing both bushing ends, the bushing cannot rotate to loosen the nut or wear against the mounting bracket and washer. The bushing is formed as a single component with the radial line projections by a powdered metal process and hardened to provide wear resistance. Dissimilar metals in the bushing and the drawbar at the pivotal connection reduce wear.

  • Patent number: 5107716
Abstract: In a horizontal revolute robot, an upper end of a ball screw (21) of a direct-acting actuator (100) is rotatably supported by a top plate of a column (10), and the lower end thereof is coupled to a drive unit (40) disposed on a base plate of the column. A first link (220) is pivotally coupled to a coupling member (210) of a manipulator (200) fixed to a slider (30) of the actuator, and a second link (240) is pivotally coupled to the first link. The ball screw is rotated by the drive unit to move the manipulator along the ball screw in unison with the slider, and servomotors (230, 250) of the manipulator are driven to turn both the links within a horizontal plane, so that a wrist portion of the robot is positioned in a robot installation space for robot operation. Since no base is required to turnably support the actuator, the robot is small-sized, light in weight, and low-priced. Since the lower movement limit position of the manipulator is low, the range of action of the robot is wide.
