For Hand-held Drill Shaft Patents (Class 384/31)
  • Patent number: 11256043
Abstract: An optical device includes a first waveguide that propagates light in a first direction; and a second waveguide including a first mirror, a second mirror, and an optical waveguide layer. The first mirror extends in the first direction and has a first reflecting surface, and the second mirror extends in the first direction and has a second reflecting surface. The optical waveguide layer is located between the first and second mirrors and propagates the light in the first direction. A forward end portion of the first waveguide is disposed inside the optical waveguide layer. In a region in which the first and second waveguides overlap each other when viewed in a direction perpendicular to the first reflecting surface, at least part of the first waveguide and/or at least part of the second waveguide includes at least one grating whose refractive index varies periodically in the first direction.

  • Patent number: 10690845
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to semiconductor structures and, more particularly, to three dimensional (3D) optical interconnect structures and methods of manufacture. The structure includes: a first structure having a grating coupler and a first optical waveguide structure; and a second structure having a second optical waveguide structure in alignment with the first optical waveguide structure and which has a modal effective index that matches to the first optical waveguide structure.

  • Patent number: 9103978
Abstract: A light-trapping sheet of the present disclosure includes: a plurality of light-transmitting sheets each having first and second principal surfaces; and a plurality of light-coupling structures arranged in an inner portion of each of the plurality of light-transmitting sheets at a first and second distance from the first and second principal surfaces, respectively. Each of the plurality of light-coupling structures includes a first light-transmitting layer, a second light-transmitting layer, and a third light-transmitting layer sandwiched therebetween. A refractive index of the first and second light-transmitting layers is smaller than a refractive index of the light-transmitting sheet; and a refractive index of the third light-transmitting layer is larger than the refractive index of the first and second light-transmitting layers. The third light-transmitting layer has a diffraction grating parallel to the first and second principal surfaces of the light-transmitting sheet.

  • Patent number: 8267583
Abstract: A multi-chip module (MCM), which includes a three-dimensional (3D) stack of chips that are coupled using optical interconnects, is described. In this MCM, disposed on a first surface of a middle chip in the 3D stack, there are: a first optical coupler, an optical waveguide, which is coupled to the first optical coupler, and a second optical coupler, which is coupled to the optical waveguide. The first optical coupler redirects an optical signal from the optical waveguide to a first direction (which is not in the plane of the first surface), or from the first direction to the optical waveguide. Moreover, the second optical coupler redirects the optical signal from the optical waveguide to a second direction (which is not in the plane of the first surface), or from the second direction to the optical waveguide. Note that an optical path associated with the second direction passes through an opening in a substrate in the middle chip.

  • Patent number: 5599107
Abstract: A self-aligning linear bearing for use with the feed column of a drilling rig includes a bearing block having a pivot shaft extending therefrom. A pivot block connected to a mounting plate of a drill head rotatably connects with the pivot shaft, enabling the bearing to rotate such that the bearing surfaces of the bearing maintain substantially full contact with the feed column despite forces moving the drill head and mounting plate away from or toward the feed column.
