  • Publication number: 20030021502
Abstract: The instant invention includes a two-piece interlocking wear bearing insert 10. The wear bearing insert 10 of the instant invention utilizes a complementary two-piece design that prevents rotation of the entire assembly in a groove 16 of one reciprocating element. A plurality of lubrication slots 28 and 38 in a respective axial edge of each interlocking element 20 and 40 facilitates even distribution of lubricants. Slots 28 and 38 may be molded into the interlocking elements 20 and 40, thereby obviating the need to machine holes into the wear bearing insert 10 material. Each element 20 and 40 contains an axial slot 26 and 46, respectively, wherein each slot axially extends through a relatively narrow or cylindrically short section 24 and 44, respectively, of each element 20 and 40, respectively. Known designs contain axial slots that axially extend across the length of the bearing surface thereby increasing the likelihood of bearing insert failure given an associated reduction in the bearing surface area.

  • Patent number: 5131615
Abstract: A chair column comprises a stand tube. A support bush is inserted into the upper end portion of the stand tube. A gas spring cylinder extends axially through the receiver bush. The piston rod is directed downward and is connected with a bottom of the stand tube. The gas spring cylinder is guided through two axially spaced bearing bushes. The bearing bushes are radially supported by the receiver bush through a radially prestressed transmission ring or a plurality of circumferentially distributed buffers. The radial prestress is transmitted to the contact face between the bearing bushes and the gas spring cylinder.

  • Patent number: 5118265
Abstract: A pumping apparatus comprises a piston/cylinder assembly mounted between two laterally spaced end cap sections attached to base means and including spring-loaded valve devices. A piston rod is movably supported in and extends outwardly from one of the end cap sections. A manually operated linkage mechanism effects axial longitudinal movement of the piston rod and a support mechanism maintains longitudinal axial alignment of the piston rod during its longitudinal axial movement. The longitudinal movement of the piston rod operates in concert with the spring-loaded valve devices to pump fluid manually when the pumping apparatus is positioned in any angular disposition with respect to the horizontal.

  • Patent number: 5052278
Abstract: A fluid cylinder has improved wear rings in a combination that includes a tube having a tubular wall and first and second end caps. The tubular wall defines a cylinder bore that has a central axis. Each end cap also has a bore extending along the central axis. A piston assembly is mounted in the cylinder bore with a piston rod mounted in the bore of one of the end caps, so that the piston assembly is slidable along the central axis. The piston assembly includes a piston head that has a reservoir defined by an annular recess opening toward the tubular wall. The reservoir houses a prepacked lubricant. One wear ring closes off the annular recess from the tubular wall. The wear ring seal has a plurality of radial apertures extending therethrough, through which lubricant is capable of flowing to lubricate the piston assembly. Another wear ring closes off a reservoir in the bore of an end cap and functions as the first mentioned wear ring also to lubricate the piston assembly.

  • Patent number: 4928577
Abstract: It is a question of a piston and cylinder unit comprising a cylinder barrel defining a piston space, a piston able to run axially in said barrel with a support action due to a peripheral bearing surface of the barrel. The piston includes at least one annular running belt which is coaxially arranged thereon along part of the length of the piston. The belt has a surface facing radially outwards which makes contact with the inner bearing surface of the barrel with sliding fit to support the piston, while an inwardly directed surface of the belt bears on an outer peripheral surface of the piston, which is spaced from the bearing surface of the barrel. The belt further has an inwardly directed retainer spur fitting into a groove-like peripheral recess in the piston. The belt is made of a material with resiliently elastic properties and is interrupted at one position on its periphery so that in the fitted condition of the belt there is a closed interruption able to be opened out for fitting purposes.

  • Patent number: 4890937
Abstract: A cartridge bearing assembly includes a non-resilient tubular bearing element and a spring for causing the tubular bearing element to float with a shaft therethrough within a surrounding housing. Because loading between the bearing element and the shaft is eliminated, very close tolerances can be held therebetween and wear between the bearing and the shaft therethrough is substantially reduced. Seals may be incorporated into the bearing member in applications where a pressure drop is desired across the bearing shaft interface.

  • Patent number: 4796516
Abstract: An improved linear guiding mechanism with a standing part and a moving part which have respective uniform cross sections. A pair of spaced guiding channels is formed between these parts and respective linear ball bearings are arranged in both channels that interconnect the two parts. The channel walls are abutting the balls via steel bars extending along the channels. Preferably the standing part defines a cylinder in which a piston is moved and its shaft is connected to the moving part. The parts are made of light and soft material such as aluminum or plastic and manufactured by extrusion technique. The rather high variation of dimensions of such parts are compensated by means of biasing forces that press the channels together, and the biasing forces are sufficiently high to resist operational load. The length of the ball bearings is at least the half of the maximum stroke.
