  • Patent number: 5052825
Abstract: The axial mounting with skewing compensation for a turbomachine has a fastening flange (1) and a bearing housing (2) which is in one piece with the latter and which is subdivided into a middle housing part (9) and an outer housing part (10) by means of at least one pair of slots (4,7) in two respective planes. The slots (4,7) are widened in a lobe-like manner at their ends, and these ends respectively limit at least one pair of webs (5,8) located diametrically opposite one another in the said planes. These webs (5,8) perform the function of rigid joints for damping angular deflections of the shaft which are caused by operating loads. The webs (5,8) of the two planes are offset relative to one another by 90.degree., generally by the amount of half their circumferential division.

  • Patent number: 4909639
Abstract: A bearing assembly for a shaft comprises a body having a cylindrical bore open at one end, a mount bracket extending from the one end and an annular stop flange at the other end of the bore. An apertured bearing of a hardened plastic material is enclosed within the body and at one end has an annular stop shoulder bearing against the stop flange and defining a cylindrical extension of reduced diameter extending outwardly of the body adapted to journal a shaft. In a modification, an annular groove in the cylindrical extension outwardly of the stop flange receives a snap ring to restrain the bearing against endwise movements relative to the body.

  • Patent number: 4645361
Abstract: An end shield for an electric motor or the like includes a generally disk shaped planar portion having a cylindrical bearing socket therein for mounting a cylindrical bearing. The socket has a cylindrical side wall and an end wall, and is formed from ears and tabs from the material of the disk such that the ears are bent out of the plane of the disk to extend at right angles to the planar portion. The ears define the cylindrical side wall of the socket. The tabs extend generally radially inwardly and define the end wall of the socket. A cylindrical bearing within the socket is retained radially and in axial alignment by the cylindrical side wall of the socket, and is restrained in an axial direction by the end wall of the socket. A spring may be mounted within the socket to resiliently preload the bearings of the motor in the axial direction.

  • Patent number: 4565356
Abstract: A fiber reinforced plastic leaf spring including a curved central section and a pair of end sections, each having a bushing to receive a connecting member. The spring is formed from a plurality of longitudinally extending substantially continuous strands of fibrous material impregnated with a cured thermosetting resin which are wound in a loop configuration around the bushings. The windings consist of a pair of generally parallel runs which extend between the bushings and are disposed in contiguous relation and the resin is cured to formed an integral structure. Each bushing includes a tubular section and at least one circumferentially extending rib that extends outwardly from the tubular section and is encapsulated in the fibrous windings. The ribs act to prevent delamination of the two runs along the neutral axis of the spring when the spring is subjected to load in service.
