A damping plate with a surface facing a surface of a raceway is provided at a moving block body. The surface of the damping plate is set to be in contact with the raceway rail or is set such that a gap between its surface of the raceway rail is as close to zero as possible. When vibration occurs from the raceway rail or the moving block, the surface of the raceway rail and the surface of the damping plate come into contact with each other. Abstract: A parallel guide apparatus comprises two roller-type linear guide apparatuses disposed in spaced-apart, confronting, parallel relation. Each roller-type linear guide apparatus comprises a rail 2 and a slider 3 slidably assembled into the rail 2 via a roller 9. The rail 2 is made by deforming a plate material to form a channel-shaped cross section. The slider 3 has at least three roller 9 which are disposed such that their entire width d becomes slightly larger than the distance 2 between opposite guide planes of the rail 2. The rollers 9 supported on the slider 3 are brought into contact with guide planes of the rail 2. The rollers 9 may be made of a sintered metal impregnated with a lubricant. The rollers 9 in one of the roller-type linear guide apparatus are slightly movable toward the rollers 9 in the other roller-type linear guide apparatus.

Abstract: A stiffener assembly which provides for improved performance of a movable stage arrangement. Often, it is desired to provide a movable stage arrangement in which a stage moves linearly with respect to a stationary base. In many applications, it is necessary for the stage to move to successive rest positions, with movement of the stage inhibited at each of the reset positions. The stiffener of the present invention allows for controlled movement of a stage along its direction of travel, with the stiffener inhibiting undesired movement when the stage is at a rest position. In one form, a stiffener extends in the direction of travel of the stage, with one end of the stiffener assembly mounted to the stationary base, and the other end urged into frictional contact with the movable stage by a force applicator. As a result, the stiffener is placed in frictional contact with the movable stage.

Abstract: A linear bearing assembly comprising sets of guides (ways) for guiding rolling elements (ball bearings or rollers) constrained within a cage. Typically, two sets of rolling elements and cages are used between a moving part and a stationary part. Each set has four resilient elements (springs) with one end of each spring anchored to the cage and with the other ends of two springs anchored to the stationary way or part and the other ends of the other two springs are anchored to the movable way or part. This arrangement provides a restoring spring force that gradually forces the cage to its correct tracking position. If the cage is tracking properly, the spring forces cancel out and there is no inherent rubbing in the restoring mechanism.

Abstract: Apparatus for force restoration of a bearing retainer uses a loop of resilient line around a pulley at an end of the bearing retainer. One end of the loop attached to a slide and the other end is attached to a base of a positioning table. A second loop is similarly attached at the opposite end of the retainer. These loops apply equal tension to both ends of the bearing retainer as long as the bearing retainer remains in its proper position without creep. When the bearing retainer moves out of position, unequal forces are exerted by the two loops, with a resultant force in a direction necessary to return the bearing retainer to its proper position. This controls the position of the bearing retainer relative to the slide. Provision for detecting and controlling broken force restoration lines may be included. In a second embodiment, a positioning table is disposed in a non-level position wherein gravity tends to produce bearing creep in a downward direction.

A second rail is flexibly coupled to the first and biased against a motorized driving roller by a simple tensioning mechanism. The tensioning mechanism maintains the friction contact between the driving roller and the second rail. The flexible coupling joining the first and second rails compensates for any misalignment in the mounting of the componentry. The flexible mounting also allows for the door to be driven around curves.
