  • Patent number: 8218821
Abstract: An apparatus processes video signals containing video information related to a scene which may contain a vehicle license plate. The apparatus includes a video camera having a video imaging device for viewing the scene and generating a first video signal. A character detector in the video camera processes the first video signal to detect a license plate within the scene and to generate location information indicating the location of the license plate. A line detector in the camera determines a particular video line of the first video signal into which the location information is to be embedded. An insertion circuit in the camera embeds the location information into the particular video line of the first video signal to form a second video signal. The apparatus may also include a video capture device for receiving the second video signal from the video camera and converting the second video signal into digital image data.

  • Patent number: 8200063
Abstract: The subject invention relates to a system and method for video summarization, and more specifically to a system for segmenting and classifying data from a video in order to create a summary video that preserves and summarizes relevant content. In one embodiment, the system first extracts appearance, motion, and audio features from a video in order to create video segments corresponding to the extracted features. The video segments are then classified as dynamic or static depending on the appearance-based and motion-based features extracted from each video segment. The classified video segments are then grouped into clusters to eliminate redundant content. Select video segments from each cluster are selected as summary segments, and the summary segments are compiled to form a summary video.

  • Patent number: 8184947
Abstract: An electronic apparatus includes a detecting unit and a categorizing unit. The detecting unit compares each of a plurality of frames that constitute each of a plurality of video contents with one another, and detects a video feature generated by one of a camera operation and video editing from each of the plurality of video contents. The categorizing unit judges, based on the detected video feature, a visual activity level of a video contained in each of the plurality of video contents, and categorizes each of the plurality of video contents based on the judged activity level.

Abstract: The present invention facilitates reading in advance information on addresses where data of each reproduction path to be reproduced is stored. Clip AV stream 1 to Clip AV stream 3 of angles forming a multiangle are managed by PlayList#1 to PlayList#3 for the different angles. Each of PlayList#1 to PlayList#3 is divided by angle change points. Each of the divided reproducing sections corresponds to a PlayItem. Correspondences between source packet numbers and presentation time stamps of the angle change points are recorded in an EP_map. The present invention is applicable to DVD recording and reproducing apparatus, for example.

  • Patent number: 8090149
Abstract: An image capturing device includes an image capturing module, an image processing module coupled to the image capturing module, a comparing module, and an activating module. The image capturing module is capable of capturing images of an object including a pair of sequential pre-images and a final image of the object. The image processing module is capable of determining a movement of the object in the pair of sequential pre-images. The comparing module determines whether the movement of the object is within the range of a pre-determined movement tolerance stored in the comparing module and is capable of outputting a first trigger signal if the movement of the object is within the range of the pre-determined movement tolerance. The activating module receives the first trigger signal and activates the image capturing module to capture the final image of the object according to the first trigger signal.
