Abstract: A data storage device and method for auto-peeling of surveillance video content to increase archival storage is provided. In one embodiment, a data storage device is provided comprising a memory and a controller. The controller is configured to determine that available storage space in the memory is less than a threshold; in response to determining that the available storage space in the memory is less than the threshold: read a video file from the memory; and re-encode the video file to decrease a size of the video file, wherein re-encoding the video file increases available storage space in the memory without deleting the video file. One method includes linking, by a processor of an electronic device of a user, a frequent flyer (“FF”) account credential with a streaming service account credential of a streaming service; storing, by an aircraft, an FF token with user data; pre-fetching, by an aircraft, media content from the streaming service based on user viewing history; receiving, by a seat device of the aircraft, the FF token from the electronic device for authentication during a first flight to access the media content, the seat device paired with the electronic device; authenticating, by the seat device, the FF token using the stored user data; presenting, by the seat device, the media content; and updating, by the seat device, the FF token with user viewing history of the media content indicating when presentation of the media content on the seat device was stopped.

For example, a device configured to play one or more of a plurality of audio streams includes a memory configured to store timing information and the plurality of audio streams. The device also includes one or more processors coupled to the memory. Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media may be operable to facilitate the allocation of digital video recorder storage. Storage for a device such as a digital video recorder may be partitioned into a plurality of segments, and each segment may be allocated to a specified user. The device may be configured to allocate a specified amount or percentage of storage to each one of a plurality of users. When a request to record a piece of content is received by the device, the device may identify the user requesting the recording, and the piece of content may be recorded and stored within a portion of device storage that is allocated to the user. If there is not enough room in storage allocated to the user to store the requested content, the device may identify and remove one or more recordings from the portion of storage allocated to the user.

Abstract: Various embodiments of systems, apparatus, and/or methods are described for selectively obscuring a rendering of a media stream. In one implementation, the method includes receiving a request to render the media stream. The media stream is accessed through a first media source. A content identifier is identified for an event within the requested media stream. Based upon the content identifier, it may be discovered that the event is accessible through at least one second media source. The rendering of the requested media stream may then be obscured and a notification provided to a user that the event within the requested media stream is accessible through at least one second media source.

Abstract: Systems and methods are presented for modifying scheduled storage of a series as a function of available storage. For example, a media guidance application (e.g., executed on a set-top box) monitors both the viewing progress of previously stored episodes of the series as well as the amount of available storage remaining on a storage device. The media guidance application then calculates, by inputting the current amount of available storage (e.g., 20% available) into a function of available storage, a threshold viewing progress (e.g., 50%). The media guidance application then determines from the viewing progress of the user through the episodes of the series whether the user has met the calculated threshold viewing progress (e.g., the user has watched 50% of the stored episodes). If the threshold viewing progress is not met, then the media guidance application modifies the series recording instruction (e.g., cancels the series recording).

A copy of the recorded media module is retrieved from memory. Portions of the copy of the recorded media module occurring before the position, and occurring after the another position, are discarded. Abstract: Techniques described herein may enable users to manage the division of storage, for multiple applications and on a per-content type basis, between cloud storage and local storage. A mobile device may receive user preference information relating to storage limits, each of the storage limits being applicable to an aggregate amount of data, of a particular content type, and associated with a number of applications executed by the mobile device. The mobile device transfer data, to and from cloud storage, to enforce the storage limits included in the user preference information.

Abstract: A system and method for pre-provisioning ABR assets in a content delivery network (CDN). In an example, historical delivery patterns of one or more ABR assets downloaded at respective content delivery nodes of the CDN are monitored. For each content delivery node, one or more delivery rules may be determined based on statistical distributions of the ABR assets delivered over a period of time. When a particular content is determined to become popular at a specific content delivery node, a pre-provisioning policy may be modulated such that only certain representations or adaptation sets of the particular content's assets that pass the delivery rules are pre-provisioned for the specific content delivery node.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for expanding the storage capacity of one or more DVRs in a household by attaching them to a shared network storage device are described. Recorded content is encrypted in at least some embodiments on a per customer basis rather than on a per DVR basis allowing content to be moved between devices at a customer premise and played back by any of the devices at the customer premise where the content was recorded. Network congestion delays are avoided by allowing a user to specify when content is to be locally available at a DVR and moving the content prior to the specified time, if necessary, to the local storage device in the DVR. DVRs can access, decrypt and display content stored on the network storage device that was recorded by another DVR in the same household.
