Patent number: 12236983Abstract: Various systems and methods are presented regarding interrupting a write operation to enable a read operation to be performed on a digital tape system. An initial write operation to the tape can be paused, a read operation performed on a previously written data file conducted, and upon completion of the read operation, the write operation can be recommenced. Interrupt points can be positioned within respective data blocks. Based upon knowledge of the amount of data written during the initial write operation, a position P can be determined (relative to the location of the nearest prior interrupt point) such that when the tape is advanced to place the tape head in a position to recommence the write operation after the read operation has been performed, the tape can be positioned such that the tape head is at position P. Accordingly, interruption of the write operation enables random access of the tape.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2023Date of Patent: February 25, 2025Assignee: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Xizhuo Zhang, Jing Ren, Zhao Yu Wang, Yi Jie Ma, Jing Wen Chen

Patent number: 9971791Abstract: A method for clustering product media files is provided. The method includes dividing each media file corresponding to one or more products into a plurality of tiles. The media file include one of an image or a video. Feature vectors are computed for each tile of each media file. One or more patch clusters are generated using the plurality of tiles. Each patch cluster includes tiles having feature vectors similar to each other. The feature vectors of each media file are compared with feature vectors of each patch cluster. Based on comparison, product groups are then generated. All media files having comparison output similar to each other are grouped into one product group. Each product group includes one or more media files for one product. Apparatus for substantially performing the method as described herein is also provided.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 2015Date of Patent: May 15, 2018Assignee: ADOBE SYSTEMS INCORPORATEDInventors: Vikas Yadav, Balaji Krishnamurthy, Mausoom Sarkar, Rajiv Mangla, Gitesh Malik

Patent number: 8948575Abstract: A time code signal is transmitted. An audio input is provided. An audio signal is received through the audio input. A first time code signal is generated. A value of the first time code signal is displayed on a display. A data stream including the audio signal with the first time code signal superimposed on the audio signal is generated. The data stream is transmitted to a first external device. An interruptible feedback signal is transmitted to the first external device or a second external device. A talkback signal is transmitted between a second external device and a third external device. A second time code signal is received from a second external device and the first time code signal is synchronized with the second time code signal. An interface is provided for noting the value of the first time code signal.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2012Date of Patent: February 3, 2015Inventors: Reginald Webb, Laurie Webb

Patent number: 8786667Abstract: A videoconference may be initiated between a plurality of endpoints. At least one of the endpoints may be coupled to a recording server, which may be configured to record the videoconference. A configuration may be selected (e.g., automatically or manually) for performing the recording. The endpoint (e.g., acting as an MCU) may transmit information to endpoints and may transmit recording information to the recording server. The recording information may be different from the videoconference information. For example, it may be in a “streaming friendly” format, at a different bit rate, encoded differently, have different inputs, etc. The manner in which the videoconference is stored and/or recorded may be based on the selected configuration. Clients may be configured to receive and display the videoconference from the recording server and may be configured to change the provided layout to different layouts, e.g., based on user input.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2011Date of Patent: July 22, 2014Assignee: LifeSize Communications, Inc.Inventors: Binu Kaiparambil Shanmukhadas, Hrishikesh G. Patent number: 8606077Abstract: The present invention provides a video file playing method, and also a corresponding user end. Wherein, a video file is downloaded from a server and added with an index area, where the index area includes a start address, a next file address, a start time; the video file is inserted into a local video file queue, so that a next file address of an index area of a previous video file of the video file is the start address of the index area of the video file, and the next file address of the index area of the video file is a start address of an index area of a next video file of the video file.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2011Date of Patent: December 10, 2013Assignee: Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.Inventor: Zhaozao Li

Patent number: 8548301Abstract: A record carrier is described carrying a video signal and at least one additional information signal, such as graphics or audio. The at least one additional information signal is meant to be reproduced simultaneously with said video signal. The record carrier further carries scheduling information indicating in which order parts of the at least one additional information signal or video signal have to be read from said record carrier. The scheduling information enables a reproducing device according to the invention to read parts of the video signal and the additional information signals such that no buffer overflow or underflow occurs. The size of the buffers in the apparatus can be reduced by means of the scheduling information.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2010Date of Patent: October 1, 2013Assignee: Koninklijke Philips N.V.Inventor: Wilhelmus Jacobus Van Gestel

Patent number: 8498521Abstract: Provided is a video reproduction method with a less difference between a target speed and an actual speed, when fast forward reproduction or fast rewind reproduction is performed on reproduction units consisting of a plurality of connected video units. When the video units are switched, in fast forward reproduction, as an elapsed jump time duration, a difference between a reproduction time of a last displayed picture in a source video unit and an end time of the source video unit is calculated (S104), then, as a remaining jump time duration, a value is calculated by subtracting the calculated elapsed jump time duration from the jump time duration corresponding to the designated speed (S105), then, as a reproduction start time, a time is calculated by adding the calculated remaining time duration to a start time of a destination video unit (S106), and the video is reproduced from the reproduction start time.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2012Date of Patent: July 30, 2013Assignee: Panasonic CorporationInventors: Takashi Aoki, Katsuhiro Okawara

Patent number: 8385728Abstract: Provided are an apparatus and method for searching a start position of a broadcast program. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a received broadcast program is recorded in a recording medium while being output as video and audio. If a new broadcast program is started, position information regarding a start part of the new broadcast program is stored in a memory. Thus, a current broadcast program is reproduced from a start part by searching a start position of the current broadcast program recorded in the recording medium with reference to stored position information. A determination on whether the new broadcast program is started is done on the basis of Electronic Program Guide (EPG) information or a change in audio and video signals. Accordingly, it is possible to quickly search and reproduce a start part of a broadcast program which is currently recorded.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2006Date of Patent: February 26, 2013Assignee: Humax Co., Ltd.Inventor: Dong Chul Chung
