With Mono Or Stereo Audio Signal Patents (Class 386/338)
  • Patent number: 8045840
Abstract: A video-audio recording and reproducing apparatus (101) has a built-in stereo microphone (21a, 21b) and an external microphone connection terminal (32). The external microphone connection terminal (32) is connected to a binaural microphone (3) to be attached to the ears of a photographer (300). When the binaural microphone (3) is used to collect ambient sounds, an audio signal to be recorded on a recording medium is switched from an audio signal from the built-in stereo microphone (21a, 21b) to a binaural audio signal from the binaural microphone (3). The photographer (300) puts the binaural microphone (3 (31a, 31b)) on his or her ears and collects ambient sounds around the photographer (300) including a sound emanating from an object. The object is photographed with a camera unit (11). The recording medium records the binaural audio signal, a photographed video signal, and a binaural flag signal.

Abstract: An audio relay apparatus and an audio relay method can relay audio data without being restricted by the reception capacity for receiving audio signals of a downstream audio output apparatus. An AV amp according to the present invention converts the format of the DVD audio data it receives from a DVD player, which is an upstream audio output apparatus, so as to make it match the audio reception capacity of a TV, which is a downstream audio output apparatus and transmits the obtained transformed audio data to the TV. Thus, it can transmit audio signals from the DVD player to the TV regardless of the audio reception capacity of the TV.

Abstract: A method and computing system for seamlessly inserting a local audio clip into a primary audio stream. The method sends the primary audio stream to an audio output port, and determines main parameters for the primary audio stream. The method receives a request to insert an encoded local audio clip, locates an insertion point in the primary audio stream that coincides with an end of a frame boundary, and identifies a best matching encoded local audio clip for the main parameters. The method receives and sends the best matching encoded local audio clip to the audio output port, stores the primary audio stream in a buffer while sending the best matching encoded local audio clip, and resumes the sending of the primary audio stream when the sending of the best matching encoded local audio clip is complete.

Abstract: A contents reproduction apparatus (e.g. an AV receiver) is connectable to various sources (e.g. audio/video devices) having audio/video contents which are related to predetermined activities (e.g. Listen, Watch, Play) and predetermined sound field options (e.g. Music, Movie, Entertainment) via a sound field table describing a plurality of sound field modes. The contents reproduction apparatus allows the user to arbitrarily select the source, the activity, and the sound field option, thus determining a desired sound field mode via the sound field table. The desired sound field mode is adopted in the signal processing performed on the output signals (e.g. audio signals) of the selected source. Thus, the user is able to select the optimum sound field mode from among various sound field modes with a simple operation without needing to carry out troublesome and complicated operations.
