Parallel Decompression Or Decoding Patents (Class 386/354)
  • Patent number: 11818495
Abstract: A method of producing an image frame from event packets received from an event camera comprises: forming a tile buffer sized to accumulate event information for a subset of image tiles, the tile buffer having an associated tile table that determines a mapping between each tile of the image frame for which event information is accumulated in the tile buffer and the image frame. For each event packet: an image tile corresponding to the pixel location of the event packet is identified; responsive to the tile buffer storing information for one other event corresponding to the image tile, event information is added to the tile buffer; and responsive to the tile buffer not storing information for another event corresponding to the image tile and responsive to the tile buffer being capable of accumulating event information for at least one more tile, the image tile is added to the tile buffer.

Abstract: The performance of a discriminator is improved at low cost. An image quality parameter group in the development processing is obtained so that the discrimination success rate of a discriminator based on developed image data obtained by performing the development processing on captured image data is increased. For example, the discrimination success rate is obtained by comparing a discrimination result from the discriminator with the correct answer discrimination result in a ground truth database. Since the image quality parameter group in the development processing is optimized in accordance with a discriminator, a preprocessing unit for enhancing the discrimination performance of the discriminator is unnecessary. The performance of a discriminator can be improved at low cost.

  • Patent number: 11410700
Abstract: A video playback buffer adjustment system is disclosed. The video playback buffer has a target size, measured in units of time of content, and includes a compressed frames queue and an uncompressed frames queue. The uncompressed frames queue has a minimum threshold queue size. If the size of the uncompressed frames queue falls below the minimum threshold size, then a next encoded frame in the compressed frames queue is removed from the compressed frames queue, decoded, and enqueued in the uncompressed frames queue. If a current size of the playback queue exceeds the target size plus ? (a hysteresis value), then a playback frame rate is increased, and a presentation time of one or more frames in the uncompressed frames queue is adjusted according to the increased playback frame rate. If the playback queue size is less than the target size minus ?, the playback speed can be reduced.

Abstract: A digital video recorder stores digital video streams having sequences of encoded frames that are predominantly non-keyframes. The digital video recorder synthesizes keyframes for the digital video stream by decoding the frames in sequence and occasionally capturing the state of the decoder as it decodes the frames. The decoder states are stored in a state index in association with the frames. During playback at normal or accelerated speeds, the digital video recorder is capable of random accelerated access of any frame in the digital video stream. A decoder state associated with the accessed frame is retrieved from the state index and used to begin decoding at or near the accessed frame. The decoder state initializes a playback decoder to the state that enables complete decoding and rendering of the accessed frame without having to decode multiple frames previous to the accessed frame, thereby minimizing time delays in playback.

Analog TV streams are converted to an MPEG formatted stream for internal transfer and manipulation, while pre-formatted MPEG streams are extracted from the digital TV signal and presented in a similar format. Indexes within the MPEG stream are determined and saved at predefined intervals and are stored on a hard disk along with the MPEG program material and used to create navigation packets when writing to a DVD inserted in an integrated DVD player/recorder. When a program is requested for display from the hard disk or the integrated DVD player/recorder, the program material are extracted from the appropriate source and reassembled into an MPEG stream which is sent to a decoder. Abstract: A data multiplexing apparatus for arranging video streams and audio streams respectively into packs and multiplexing these packs to create a system stream. The apparatus includes a virtual decoding video buffer occupancy calculator virtually calculating an occupancy of a decoding video buffer temporarily storing the video streams, a virtual decoding audio buffer occupancy calculator virtually calculating an occupancy of a decoding audio buffer temporarily storing the audio streams, a virtual decoding audio buffer storing a calculation result in the virtual decoding audio buffer occupancy calculator, and a payload length setting section setting an overflow limit value for the virtual decoding audio buffer. The payload length setting section sets the overflow limit value to a value of an integral multiple of an audio frame length.

Abstract: The present invention has an objective of realizing compatibility of an optical disk having a high resolution video signal recorded thereon and a system for reproducing the optical disk, with a conventional system for producing a standard resolution video signal. A high resolution video signal is divided by video division means into a main signal and a sub signal, and the main signal and the sub signal are MPEG-encoded. The stream of the main signal and the stream of the sub signal are divided into 1 GOP or more of frames. First interleave blocks 54 each including 1 GOP or more of the stream of the main signal and second interleave blocks 55 each including 1 GOP or more of the stream of the sub signal are recorded on an optical disk 1. A high resolution reproduction apparatus reproduces both the first and second interleave blocks to obtain a high resolution video output.

  • Patent number: 8126318
Abstract: A system, which minimizes a time delay caused by one device being unable to access a recording medium until access by another device ends, when transcoding is performed by distributed processing, includes a main device transcoding each coded piece allocated to itself from among a plurality of coded pieces of a digital stream, and writing a transcoding result onto the recording medium, in a pipeline. While the recording device is performing the transcoding and the writing, an auxiliary device transcodes each coded piece allocated to itself one by one. Having completed the transcoding of all coded pieces allocated to itself, the auxiliary device transmits its transcoding results to the recording device and has the recording device write the transcoding results onto the recording medium which is a copy destination.

  • Patent number: 8036517
Abstract: A video stream (for example, H.264 video) includes intra-encoded portions. Decoding an intra-encoded portion utilizes the result of decoding one or more other portions (called predecessors) in the frame. Frame reconstruction involves identifying a portion that has no predecessor portions that have not been decoded and then initiating decoding of the identified portion(s). When the decoding of a portion is substantially complete, then the remaining portions to be decoded are examined to identify portions that have no predecessors that have not been decoded. By carrying out this method, multiple portions may be decoded simultaneously. Each can be decoded on a different work entity, thereby increasing the rate of decoding of the overall frame. Because deblock filtering a predecessor destroys information needed in the intra-decoding of other portions, prefiltered predecessor information is stored in a buffer for subsequent use during intra-decoding, thereby facilitating simultaneous decoding of multiple portions.

The SVC file includes: a scalable base track including at least one scalable layer entry each storing metadata of the at least one scalable layer; and at least one sub track generated based on the scalable base track, which includes identification information of the scalable layer that is a basis of generation of a sub track among the scalable layers and identification information of the scalable base track instead of the scalable layer entry. Accordingly, when an SVC coded content is stored as a file, it is possible to reduce a storage capacity by avoiding duplication of common data and to provide convenience when the stored content is reprocessed by allowing a relation of tracks correlated to one another to be represented.
