  • Patent number: 5553187
Abstract: This invention is for boosting the performance of any existing rockpile-type sauna generator by dividing the rockpile to two parts, the lower part for steam generation and the upper part for steam drying and superheating. The parts are separated from each other by an enclosed space, clear of rocks, which allows water to spread out onto a large area of the rocks at the lower part the rockpile and steam to expand into a large space below the top part of the rockpile and thus to touch a large volume of hot rocks when it rises through the rockpile. Water is transported down to the space above the bottom part of the rockpile without touching the hot rocks at the top of the rockpile, by using bypassers which allow water to run down past the upper part of the rockpile and to spread out over a large area of rocks at lower part of the rockpile.

  • Patent number: 5536375
Abstract: A distiller for producing potable water employs a metal boiler tray having a cover member in which there is an inlet for raw water and which together form a steam chamber having an outlet for steam. The boiler tray bottom has a plurality of steps including a highest, an intermediate and a lowest level step which are all covered with water at the beginning of a distillation cycle. The temperature of the highest level step is monitored with a sensor. A rise in the temperature of the highest level step by a predetermined amount above the boiling temperature of water indicates that the highest and intermediate level steps have become dry. This results in a signal to a controller to open a valve and admit replenishment raw water whose amount is dependent on valve open time. Steam evolved from the boiler tray is conducted through a first check valve in the cover member to demister chamber when the mist or carryover water in the steam impinges on a baffle and is separated from the steam as condensate.

  • Patent number: 5355456
Abstract: A pebble-bed evaporator and superheater assembly includes a tubular pressure shell with internal baffles, the latter including a plurality of apertures therein for passage of gas therethrough. Contained within the shell are heater elements and pebble elements which store heat and transfer the same to liquified gas which is vaporized and flows through the shell whereby the gas supplied to the shell and is heated to a predetermined elevated temperature above its input temperature. The heated gas output of the shell flows to a mixer unit connected to the shell and the mixed gas flows out of the mixer. Connected to the mixer is a supply of liquified gas to cool the high temperature gas entering the mixer from the shell such that the temperature of the gas exiting the mixer is below the temperature of the heated gas exiting the shell. In this way the temperature of the gas exiting the mixer is controlled to the desired level.

  • Patent number: 5021637
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of controlling the supply of electric power to an electric sauna heater, the sauna heater being divided into two portions to be heated separately: a stone space (1) and an air duct (2) each being provided with one or more heating elements (1A1-1A3, 1B1-1B3, 2A1-2A3, 2B1-2B3) to heat the heat-storing material placed in the stone space (1) and the air contained in the sauna room, respectively.
