  • Patent number: 5906800
Abstract: A steam sterilizer device having a steam generation system is disclosed. The steam generation system has a fluid connection to a water source (1) to provide water to a venturi apparatus (27) for the selective creation of a vacuum in a sterilization chamber (71). A fluid connection to a particle filter (33) and a reverse osmosis filter (37) is also provided and water passed through the filters is delivered by a metering pump (53) to a steam generating apparatus (59) which in turn supplies steam to a the chamber (71). The chamber (71) is provided with a discharge conduit including a mixing chamber (31) and a split tubing air break (131).

  • Patent number: 5892888
Abstract: An electric heating apparatus heats a circulating fluid for a basin or pool. A section of a duct is connected, at its upstream end, to an intake duct for the fluid. Its downstream end is connected to a duct for the discharge of that fluid, this forming an end-to-end series for conducting the fluid. The apparatus includes a plurality of heating elements elongated in the direction of the elongation of the duct. The heating unit includes the heating element mounted on an elongated base and approximately parallel with the longitudinal dimension of said base. The heating unit is mounted on the duct in such a manner that the base closes an opening which is provided to facilitate the assembling of the heating unit on the duct. The heating elements are supported by a support that is movably mounted inside an opening in the base.

  • Patent number: 5559923
Abstract: A device for producing a stream of vapor for wind tunnel airflow visualization is described. An electrically conductive heating tube is used to resistively heat a vapor producing liquid. The heating and delivery systems are integrated to allow the device to present a small cross section to the air flow, thereby reducing disturbances due to the device. The simplicity of the design allows for inexpensive implementation and construction. The design is readily scaled for use in various wind tunnel applications. The device may also find uses in manufacturing, producing a vapor for deposition on a substrate.

  • Patent number: 5549078
Abstract: The present invention relates to a heating device for submersion within a tank of water to boil the water to produce steam, and for superheating the steam, comprising an outer sleeve; an inner sleeve partially disposed through the outer sleeve and having a proximal end, and a distal end in the form of an outlet port, the inner sleeve further defining a vapor chamber; a heating element disposed within the vapor chamber and in electrical communication with an external electrical power supply, the heating element adapted to produce heat in response to electrical energy from the power supply; a steam inlet tube extending outwardly from the inner tube and in fluid communication with the vapor chamber; and a one way valve disposed within the vapor chamber adjacent the outlet port, the valve adapted to selectively gate the flow of vapor from within the vapor chamber through the outlet port; wherein the heating device is configured to heat the water within the tank to a boil to produce steam, the steam inlet tube ada

  • Patent number: 5537996
Abstract: A heated respiratory humidifier conduit for use with a respiratory humidifier/ventilator circuit. The conduit consists of an inspiratory tube passing gases from the humidifier/ventilator to the patient and an expiratory tube passing exhaled gases from the patient back to the gases supply. An insulated resistance heating wire runs the full length of the inspiratory tube to reduce condensation forming on the walls of the tube. The return path for the heating wire is supplied by an insulated conductor which also runs the full length of the inspiratory tube and is connected to the heating wire near the patient. This ensures that the voltage of the heating wire is substantially zero volts at the patient end of the conduit, minimizing the interactions with other patient connected equipment.

  • Patent number: 5400969
Abstract: Apparatus for vaporizing liquids to be burned in an internal combustion engine or furnace for the purpose of increasing fuel efficiency, improving cold weather starting and reducing pollution. The device may also be used in non combustion processes such as heating coating or disbursing. A three dimensionally porous electric heating element constructed of a PTC ceramic is utilized in combination with a liquid injection apparatus for the purpose of vaporizing liquid injected into it. The PTC ceramic is resistantly heated by electrical power leads a temperature at which the injected liquid vaporizes and diffuses through its pores. The porous PTC ceramic is designed to auto-stabilize its temperature at a point for the optimum vaporization of the desired liquid.

  • Patent number: 5355456
Abstract: A pebble-bed evaporator and superheater assembly includes a tubular pressure shell with internal baffles, the latter including a plurality of apertures therein for passage of gas therethrough. Contained within the shell are heater elements and pebble elements which store heat and transfer the same to liquified gas which is vaporized and flows through the shell whereby the gas supplied to the shell and is heated to a predetermined elevated temperature above its input temperature. The heated gas output of the shell flows to a mixer unit connected to the shell and the mixed gas flows out of the mixer. Connected to the mixer is a supply of liquified gas to cool the high temperature gas entering the mixer from the shell such that the temperature of the gas exiting the mixer is below the temperature of the heated gas exiting the shell. In this way the temperature of the gas exiting the mixer is controlled to the desired level.

  • Patent number: 5113478
Abstract: This liquid fuel vaporizing apparatus is so designed that liquid fuel is vaporized by a heating plug disposed in a tubular body when the temperature in a combustion chamber is low while it is vaporized by a radiant heat of the combustion chamber received by heat-receiving fins provided in the outer-peripheral part of the tubular body when the temperature in the combustion chamber is high. Particularly, an open-cellular member having intercommunication porosity which has numerous intercommunicating pores being excellent in heat conducting properties is disposed in a fuel passage in the tubular body, and the heat transfer area of said member is increased to make uniform the state of reception of heat from the heat-receiving fins.
