Patent number: 7751695Abstract: A new technique for recording a series of images of a high-speed event (such as, but not limited to: ballistics, explosives, laser induced changes in materials, etc.) is presented. Such technique(s) makes use of a lenslet array to take image picture elements (pixels) and concentrate light from each pixel into a spot that is much smaller than the pixel. This array of spots illuminates a detector region (e.g., film, as one embodiment) which is scanned transverse to the light, creating tracks of exposed regions. Each track is a time history of the light intensity for a single pixel. By appropriately configuring the array of concentrated spots with respect to the scanning direction of the detection material, different tracks fit between pixels and sufficient lengths are possible which can be of interest in several high-speed imaging applications.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2007Date of Patent: July 6, 2010Assignee: Lawrence Livermore National Security, LLCInventor: Derek E. Patent number: 7616883Abstract: A pair of rotation plates 10 are provided on an upper surface and a lower surface of a camera body 30. The rotation plates 10 are rotatable with respect to the camera body 30. During panorama imaging, a user holds the pair of rotation plates 10 with their fingers to hold a camera 9. An actual rotation angle of the camera body 30 with respect to the rotation plate 10 is detected by an encoder provided inside the camera. When the actual rotation angle reaches a target rotation angle, an image capturing process of an element image is automatically executed.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2006Date of Patent: November 10, 2009Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventors: Yukio Nakajima, Satoru Ogawa, Kenji Toyoda

Patent number: 6999072Abstract: In order to provide a data processing technique for easily and suitably executing an integrating process for a plurality of image groups obtained successively from different directions against the object to be the base for generating a three-dimensional shape data of an object, while the object SB in a first posture placed on a rotary stage is being rotated, images of the object SB are successively photographed by a photographing device so that a first image group is obtained. The posture of the object SB is changed into a second posture, so that a second image group of the object SB is obtained similarly. Corresponding points Sp1, Sp2, Sp3 and the like of the object SB are specified on a partial first image extracted from the first image group and a partial second image extracted from the second image group. Conversion parameters of the first and second image groups are calculated from the information about the specified plural corresponding points, so that the integrating process is executed.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2003Date of Patent: February 14, 2006Assignee: Minolta Co., Ltd.Inventor: Shigeaki Imai

Patent number: 5920735Abstract: A topological panorama camera has a track or other system upon which a linescan camera can move in one, two or three dimensions while recording the image of an object. The path, speed, acceleration and direction of the linescan camera can be controlled, as can the path, speed, acceleration and direction of the object. Further, the scan rate of the camera and the orientation of the scan can be controlled. These factors allow the user to record an image of an object which change many of the properties of the object. The relative motion of the linescan camera and the object allows a student to create images which change properties of an object from one geometry to another.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 1997Date of Patent: July 6, 1999Inventor: Janet L.
