Abstract: The digital camera 1, when a length-direction range expanding button 14 or a breadth-direction range expanding button 15 is operated, changes the length-direction and breadth-direction image pickup effective ranges of a solid state image pickup device 40 using an image pickup effective range setting table 41. Due to this, there can be obtained picked-up images with a length-to-breadth ratio changed without rotating the main body of the digital camera 1. Also, since the length-direction and breadth-direction image pickup effective ranges are adjusted such that the area of the image pickup effective ranges of the solid state image pickup device 40 can provide a substantially constant value, there can be always obtained an image of good quality.
Abstract: A digital camera with rotatable components is disclosed. In the front of camera there is provided a lens, a flash, and a viewfinder, while in the rear thereof there is provided a liquid crystal display (LCD) corresponding to lens, a control button, and the rear of viewfinder. Control button is operable to press for rotating lens, flash, viewfinder, and LCD in the same direction and into a desired angle with respect to an object. Next a shutter button on the camera is operable to press for taking a picture. This camera has the benefits of ergonomic, precise picture taking, and full covering of the object by flash.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a viewfinder of a camera for taking vertical/horizontal special effect type photos, which may use APS film for taking the known type photos as well as vertical/horizontal special effect type photos. A photo setting piece with vertical/horizontal photo sections is moved in or out of the viewfinder. The photo setting piece has a toothed rack engaging a linking gear connected to a drive gear and a control rod with a drive toothed rack. With this structure, the vertical/horizontal photo sections may enter the viewfinder subject to the need for taking wider or longer photos.
