Having Braking Or Damping Member In Path Of Shutter Patents (Class 396/454)
  • Patent number: 9864039
Abstract: An electronic device includes a housing, one or more processors, and one or more proximity sensor components, each having an infrared signal receiver to receive an infrared emission from an object external to the housing. The proximity sensor component is disposed by a first aperture and a second aperture, the first aperture having a first axis oriented in a first direction and the second aperture having a second axis oriented in a second direction. Attenuation of infrared emissions can occur through one of the first aperture or the second aperture. The one or more processors can determine whether a received infrared emission is attenuated to detect whether the received infrared emission was received from the first direction or the second direction.

  • Publication number: 20140363150
Abstract: A drive mechanism having a bi-stable motor driving an actuator with a high starting torque, and a slower, regulated velocity as the actuator moves through its range of travel. This advantageously maintains high torque margins at low velocity, and lowers the kinetic energy of the bi-stable actuator at end of travel by limiting the terminal velocity and establishing a softer stop. A solenoid may be used in one embodiment. Actual bi-stable motor values are obtained immediately before the move to maintain accurate control of the motor, such as the resistance and inductance of the motor coil. For instance, the bi-stable motor may be driven into a stop, and the coil resistance may be calculated by sensing current associated with the calibration voltage. Inductance may be measured similarly by applying low level AC currents. Back-emf is sensed through the coil resistance, and an estimated motor rotation rate is sent to a feedback loop to maintain the desired rate.

  • Patent number: 7699544
Abstract: A shutter base plate is made of synthetic resin and is configured with one overhang section on the blade-chamber-side surface at one end of an arcuate slot and the other overhang section on the blade-chamber-outside surface. A shock absorbing member made from elastic material is configured with concave portions on the blade-chamber-side surface and three concave portions on the blade-chamber-outside surface. The shock absorbing member is mounted to the shutter base plate in such a way that these concave portions come in contact with the overhang sections, and as is well known, when an exposure operation is completed, the driving pin of a driving member abuts on the shock absorbing member.

  • Patent number: 7614806
Abstract: A damping system for an electromagnetically operable rotary shutter includes a damper for arresting the motion of a pivotally supported shutter actuating drive arm. The damper has a first portion composed of an ultrahigh density polyethylene and a second portion composed of a damped polyurethane that are arranged to strike one against the other during operation of the shutter. Moreover the first portion of the damper has a straight edge and the second portion has a surface that is curved so as to maintain substantially a point contact between the two portions throughout the duration of the impact between the two. The combination of materials and configuration of the surfaces of the two portions provides energy absorption while avoiding the adherence of the two portions upon impact.

  • Patent number: 7168865
Abstract: A normally closed shutter in a camera has at least one blade that is moved to open and close the shutter. A movable blade-driver in the camera has a supporting connection with a fixed support to support the blade-driver for movement, and has a driving connection with the shutter to drive at least the one blade to open and close the shutter when the driver is moved. A fixed blocking ramp in the way of the blade-driver stops the blade-driver once the blade-driver has moved to drive at least the one blade to close the shutter. The fixed ramp is inclined to urge or cam the blade-driver to create a high friction-type force at the supporting connection that impedes movement of the blade-driver to drive at least the one blade to re-open the shutter, whereby the shutter is prevented from being reopened unintentionally.

  • Patent number: 7025513
Abstract: A shutter/filter unit as an optical apparatus includes a shutter actuator, a filter actuator, a shutter drive ring, two shutter blades, and one ND filter, which are connected to a driving source body in series. The shutter blades are rotationally driven via the shutter drive ring so as to open and shut by the shutter actuator, and the ND filter is back and forth and rotationally driven by the filter actuator directly. The shutter blades and the ND filter are coaxially supported to a blade-support pin, and are rotationally driven independently. According to this apparatus, a conventional optical apparatus having a light-exclusion member and a light-attenuating member housed therein is further miniaturized so as to contribute miniaturization to an image-pickup apparatus, such as a camera, having the optical apparatus mounted thereon.
